I'm a newbie here, and after reading the FAQ:

Earning EXP and Leveling Up
Gaining EXP is simple: role-play battles, quests, and other events with your character, and you will be rewarded EXP for your efforts.
So, would regular, expositional posting be considered 'other events'? Or must my character specifically engage in battles and quests to be awarded points?

Thanks,

You typically get a little EXP after Bazaar transactions. :)

Okay, but seriously, sometimes we have events and you can earn extra EXP by participating in that. The now-defunct Athylia's Verse was a good example.

Any in-character thread that you participate in will net experience points. The reason "other events" is listed there is to highlight that you do not necessarily have to fight someone or search for the Mystical Bauble of the Red Dragon(tm) to earn experience. Points can be earned simply by having an interesting IC dialogue with another player, crafting a story about how you came into existence, or anything else you might imagine.

If it takes place in an in-character forum and its submitted for judging, it will earn experience.

Ah, so that's what the 'submit for judging' link is all about.

So, okay, next question. When I press the 'submit for judging' link, am I submitting a single post, or a whole thread?

And, moreover, should I submit all of my threads/posts, or is that considered 'spamming the crap out of the mods'?

Thanks,

Only submit the threads that are done, and not individual posts. Submitting individual posts would be spamming the crap out of the mods.

And don't submit a thread if someone else has already submitted it. Arrange who submits the thread with the other people/person in your quest/battle.

Keep in mind also, that if your thread doesn't meet the minimum post requirement which (another mod should correct me if we've changed it) is 10 posts or 10,000 words, then you may not get as much or any EXP, so be sure to finish your thread before you submit it to get as much experience as possible (and also a higher score, since it will make more sense to the judge if it is a complete story).
