The Guardian
Name: Grimble Greer the Bane of Petals
Age: 106 years old
Race: Pixie
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 4"
Weight: .15 lbs
Occupation: Self Proclaimed Baby Protector
Personality: Serious and angsty, Grimble is more of a teenaged drama queen than your average 14 year old human girl. Everything is a crisis situation, everyone is the enemy. Paranoid to a fault, but that doesn't mean that they aren't out to get her. She has a chip on her shoulder about her lack of fae skills, but what she lacks in magical ability, she more than makes up for in willpower. While she can whine and bitch with the rest of them, she'll never be caught not trying to improve her situation or do what she feels is her duty.
Appearance: Only 4 inches tall, it's easy to miss this woman. She's got large brown eyes, cropped earthy brown hair, and blushes at the slightest emotion. Her small, gossamer wings have spots of umber splashed across them, and she wears a threadbare red sun dress that was once given as a gift from a passing witch who used her as an informant.

Familiar: Acacia - Acacia is a ferocious black kitten who serves as Grimble's noble steed.
History
Once long ago, there was a small village of faery that lived in the forested Raiaeran hills. They, being so closely thronged to the elves, were highly magical in all they did. They coaxed beautiful flowers with healing properties to grow, and helped all the wildlife into harmony. One day a fae was born, unfolding from the petals of a wild orchid, and with her came a bad omen. From the mountains of Alerar, wild cats came, small and black and moved like a plague through the faeries' territory. They brought strife with them, until the native animals began to turn against each other. The faeries had harder time with their plants, and began to fight amongst themselves as well. When the feral cats settled, and the new fae began to learn the ways of her kind, it became apparent that she was just as cursed as the day she had been born. Any plant she tended withered and died, never blooming. She was named the Bane of Petals, and cast out. She wandered for decades on end, looking for that which we all seek. Purpose.
One hundred years passed, and the fae had gone the world over. She came back to Raiaera, but not back to her people. A wandering witch one day found her crying by the roadside. In return for a small doll's dress and her fortune, the witch asked for a bit of fairy dust. Grimble tried to explain that hers was talentless, useless, but the witch insisted. So Grimble, thinking she was getting the better of the deal, agreed and traded with the witch. Her fortune was thus: You shall soon find your talent.
Grimble went back to her people with the news of the fortune, only to find one of the kittens of the line of feral cats attacking a group of fae. No matter what spells they might try, the kitten seemed immune to their magical attacks. Grimble, enraged that such a thing should happen to the great magicians of her clan, flew head on at the kitten. They wrestled for hours, until finally the spry and clever fae had her opponent pinned to the ground. The kitten was broken, and hers to claim as a steed. Grimble was welcomed into the clan again as a great warrior, and while she had finally found her talent, she couldn't help but to continue to feel as an outsider.
Meanwhile, in a small Raiaeran village of humans, a woman was seeking the help of a witch. She and her husband had been trying for many years to conceive a child, but nothing had happened. The woman had been pooling money for several years and gave the witch everything she had saved, begging her to help. The witch smiled and gave her a potion of exotic herbs and spices, water from a fertility spring and a sprinkling of faery dust.
Five weeks later, the woman announced happily to her husband and friends that she was laden with child.
The pregnancy and labor was a happy event, with everyone all around the couple celebrating the joyous occassion. However, when Kari was born, things were soon seen to be strange. For instance, the couple, both tracing their ancestry to Fallien, were dark of features. The child was pale, with crystalline blue eyes and golden hair. The man accused his wife of having an affair and left her. The mother, stricken by the news and the lost of the family's breadwinner, turned to whatever job she could. She tried her best to stick to waitressing and errand running, but lucrative offers soon pulled her into modeling. It, like most downward spirals, started off innocently enough. A few racy lingerie pictures turned into nude modeling, and then into a few artistic peices with hunky men where nothing happened. Soon, she found herself a full fledged prostitute. The money was good, though, enough to take care of herself and the hungry fatherless baby she had at home, but the stress was mounting faster than the men. One day, another girl slipped her something to help the stress, to numb the shame.
The next day, she bought more, and soon she was trying new things. The ferocity with which she wanted so badly to make a good life for her special baby was replaced by a need for the numb, pretty colors that the little pills and powders brought her. Instead of cuddling with her burbling infant, she spent her days at home staring at the ever changing wall through a haze of smoke, barely hearing the laughter and cries of the neglected toddler beyond.
Like any unwatched child would, the moment Kari learned to walk, she walked right out the door. She didn't get far, the pretty flowers in the small field behind the house stopped her, but she wasn't alone either. A small black kitten loped over, looking at her with equal the amount of curiousity that it was being regarded with. On it's back, rode a small pixie. The child, amazed and delighted with the small woman, played with her and the kitten for hours. As the day progressed, and a mild sunburn began to spread along the child's cheeks, the pixie grew worried. When the sun began to set, she was in a state of panic. It was as the last rays of light were falling below the horizon that a woman stumbled into the yard. She looked around and her eyes fell on the child as if she were seeing the girl for the first time. Kari held her arms out to the woman and cooed, and after several long moments of staring, the woman came and picked her up.
"What do you have here?" she asked, as she stared down at the cat. Because she didn't believe, she could not see Grimble sitting so triumphantly on the kitten. Reaching down, she took the kitten and fae in her arms, and marched all three back into the house. With Kari now sitting with an old infant's toy and her Binkie in the living room, the woman reached into a small box that sat in an end table drawer, and pulled out a homemade cigarette. When the end flared red and grey smoke began to curl upwards, Grimble could smell just what herbs were being burned within. The woman's eyes dulled and again she could not see her baby daughter.
As Grimble shook her head, turning from the woman, a loud crash echoed through the room. She looked, to see the box that held the woman's drugs in pieces at her side, her hand clutching a place on her cheek that was red from the impact.
"How in the hell did that happen?" the woman was muttering as she began to pick up the pieces of the delicate box. Grimble, too, was puzzled. There had been no wind coming through the room, and the box would have been too heavy for a mere breeze to lift anyway. The smell of the herbs still hung in the air, and for a moment the fae looked back on the child that had been sitting on the other side of the woman than had been struck. Her eyes glowed with a strange blue light, her tiny fists curled in effort. A cold shiver moved down Grimble's spine, and leaving her faithful steed there, she left the house immediately.
That night she sought audience with the regional Pixie Queen, and told her of the child's powers, and their dark purposes. The Queen agreed with Grimble that the child would have to be properly trained, and her moral standards honed. In the environment she was currently in, as her powers developed, who knew what selfish and evil purposes they would be put to use for? That night Grimble and the Queen enlisted the help of goblins to carry the child out of the house and deep into the forest. Under the light of the full moon, and on the back of Acacia, they took Kari into a faery round. There the fae danced, to seal Kari into their territory until she reached adulthood. They intended on training her through her childhood, and a changeling was being sent to her home to live in her stead. All seemed to be going perfectly, until the child stood up, toddling on her legs, and lifted her hands.
Time seemed to stand still. Every hair on Grimble's body stood straight upwards, and she realized that Kari was sucking the magic that they were gathering as they danced. Even magicless, talentless Grimble was feeling drained, and before she could shout to the others to stop, a white hot flash of light invaded the circle. They shielded their eyes from the explosion, and when they lowered their arms again, the child was gone. Two of the goblins were missing as well, and the most agonizingly interesting development (where the fae were concerned) was that where Grimble was standing, blossoming flowers were spreading out in a wide spiral. Her gossamer wings were glittering as they had never before, and even her eyes held a shimmer of pure, raw, magic.
"Grimble Greer," The Pixie Queen spoke in eldritch tone, "You have found this dangerous weapon, you brought her upon us, and you will bring her back."
