I know we have the Currently Listening Thread, but you know everyone's posting only their cool songs. :P
So here's an idea: this is a variation of a meme that floats around every now and then over at Livejournal. Basically, you put your iTunes/Media Player/whatever you use to listen to music on shuffle, a.k.a. random, and post the first song that plays. No matter how embarrassing it is.
You can post the first few songs that play if you like, but you can't change the song to make you look less lame. Have fun.
I'll start: Faster, by Third Eye Blind.
Which fortunately isn't nearly as embarrassing as some of my other songs. :)
Everlong by the Foo Fighters
Fun, the random selection gave me exactly the song I wanted to hear. :)

Bad Day by Fuel
(followed by Alcohol by Brad Paisley!)
glad to see some other Third Eye Blind and Foo Fighters fans here!
I however, am not ashamed or embarrased by my music. I could post my entire library of music and not be embarassed by any of it.

Barbie Girl, by Aqua.
Hell yes.
glad to see some other Third Eye Blind and Foo Fighters fans here!
Oh, man. Third Eye Blind is my favorite band...ever. Words cannot express how much I love them. They're the only band whose every song I have memorized. :)
I however, am not ashamed or embarrased by my music. I could post my entire library of music and not be embarassed by any of it.
Oh, I'm pretty much the same way. I mean, I love my music. I have a grotesquely huge CD case and will probably need another one in the near future. My music is something I treasure and could never live without.
But I definitely have a few songs that would make anyone cringe.

Wow, you and me both then Empy --- I've seen them twice in concert --- the first time Stephen actually sang the whole first verse and chorus of Blinded to me (other people in the audience pointed out what I already questioned) and then grabbed my hand later. We had backstage passes and had pics made with him (his arm was around me). They are so amazing!

Auuuugh. I would hate you if you weren't so damn cool and stuff. You and me have got to talk. :) I want dearly to see those guys in concert. I heard they're working on a fourth album, so I hope it's true.
Just to stay on topic, here's my current shuffled song:
Judas, by Kelly Clarkson
1st song "Don't stop beliving" Journey.....could of been a lot worse
2nd song "Mack the knife" Bobby Darin...not bad
3rd song "Orinco Flow" Celtic Woman.....hey dont judge
I Buy my music exclusivly through itunes. My Library is so huge my computer could play for more than a month non-stop without once ever repeating itself. Well, maybe not that long, but it is pretty dang huge. 30 GB.
Music doesn't inspire my imagination, it fuels it. when I hear music, my mind jumps into overdrive and cunjures up entire universes to go with the music. I personally blame all the classical music I listened to when I was younger, and still do.
I thought Orinoco Flow was Enya? (Not judging I have some Enya.) Could be Celtic Woman, though. Although she seems kinda...not Celtic to me.
Oh the shark has pretty teeth, dear...
Anyway, my CD list is not all on my laptop at the moment, but from what I have...
"To Aslan's Camp," from the Narnia soundtrack.
no it was orginally done by enya...celtic woman just covers songs from all over the world, even songs from musical, and make them into their own sound.
1. "Lazzaro" - Poison The Well
2. "Night And Day" - Frank Sinatra
3. "Doin' The Cockroach" - Modest Mouse
4. "After Hours" - Phantom Planet

Heh, you sound just like me. I created one of my characters here based on one song. Every time I listened to it, it just drew out this image I couldn't get rid of. That's the wonderful thing about music. :)
Bobby Darin! Frank Sinatra! Enya! Everybody! You guys have good taste. :) That's what I love about these music threads.

This isn't my computer anymore, so all my music is on the laptop which doesn't work. However, I ripped some songs from CDs I've got that help me with certain threads, so here's the first five shuffled that I got from a very short list.
1. Instrumental - Ashokan Farewell (http://youtube.com/watch?v=sx6dxrhqPZY) Eric once told me that this was the song that reminded him most of his charrie, Devon dan Sabriel. It's managed to find it's place in Skie's soundtrack as well.
2. Groovie Ghoulies - Vampire Girl (http://youtube.com/watch?v=h1Q2SUMsHFE) Apocalyptica. n.n I'm working on the intro to my first quest with her and the Ghoulies really help me out when I'm working on her.
3. Ensiferum - Slayer of Light (http://youtube.com/watch?v=0H1eq12BTgo)
4. Ensiferum - Goblin Dance (http://youtube.com/watch?v=VV1-mfDejSo) So I guess WinAmp is liking the metal to-day.
5. Rancid - Ruby Soho (http://youtube.com/watch?v=U5IV3AbLBa0) This is a Chromanon Rockskin song, though lately she's been unusually quiet in mah head.

Manda, this is why you're cool. :) I'm glad I'm not the only one with soundtrack playlists for my Althanas characters. They really do help, too. All I need to set a certain mood is to click 'play' on that playlist. It's funny how perfectly the sound or words of a certain song can pinpoint a character like that. *snaps fingers*
Okay, I'm stealing your idea with the character thing. Here's some of Sanoë's and Rabhya's soundtracks, shuffled.
1. Over My Head - Lit This song I usually listen to for a scene where Sanoë's gotten herself into a bad, unwanted situation. So this song is played....all the time.
2. Will I - Aaron Lohr/Wayne Wilcox/ Cast of RENT This one's just a chorus sung repeatedly, but it's such a melancholy song it's perfect for writing sad things.
3. Mama's Good To You - Queen Latifah (from Chicago) I see my computer has chosen to reveal me as a theatre geek. Ah, well. This song is hilarious - and raunchy as all hell. It has a theme of uh....compensation that fits Rabhya very accurately.
4. Cold Hard Bitch - Jet Another Sanoë one. ......if this doesn't explain itself, I don't know what will.
5. Another Place To Fall - K.T. Tunstall Really just good for background music.

1. Thrice - Paper Tigers (http://youtube.com/watch?v=UrqSNjB1dj8) For None So Blind
2. Sage Francis - Broken Wings (http://youtube.com/watch?v=nItAUuG8cKQ) Definately a Skie song via Skie and Avery. The lyrics can be found HERE (http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Sage-Francis/Broken-Wings.html). I love this song so much. I listen to it on repeat for my Harmless posts.
3. Bad Religion - Social Suicide (http://youtube.com/watch?v=c2pIPi2bYUQ) - I use this song to fuel Skie and Tshael.
4. Nightwish/Lacuna Coil - A Ghost Between Us (http://youtube.com/watch?v=dz0rvo9YaP0) A great instrumental piece that I like to use for None So Blind, but I can also see coming up for Tshael and Apocalyptica.
5. Millencolin - Penguins and Polar Bears (http://youtube.com/watch?v=TCcGu4adnNg) This song is for Manda and Kahlina. ((Snootchybootchykins and Rumplegrumblepuss.))

Varia - That Puddle of Mudd song is awesome. I need to get a CD of theirs, I haven't listened to them in forever.
Emerald Hind - Okay, this is just further proof that we must one day quest together. I have, and love, every song you listed.
On with the shuffling:
"Sleep" - Get Set Go. This song is pointless, but I love it.
"Karma Slave - Splashdown. I'm very fond of this one. it has such an ancient, Eastern feeling to it. In fact, it was solely this song that inspired one of my characters on here.
"Everything Burns" - Ben Moody feat. Anastasia
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (cover) - Jake Shimabukuro. This is just an audio off a video, but this guy is amazing. He plays a cover of a Beatles song with no vocals, just ukelele. It's wonderful.
My Medea - Vienna Teng. She is brilliant. Her songs are brilliant.

Phantom of the Opera - Gerard Butler - Music of the Night
(Ohhhh lordy he's soooo loverly)
He looks pretty enough as the Phantom, but I was seriously disappointed by his singing. Considering the Phantom has virtually no speaking lines, I feel like they should've picked someone with a more capable voice.
Although Angel of Music wasn't quite so bad...
Xos - Oh, I LOVE Josh Groban's rendition of O Holy Night. He makes everything beautiful, he does.
Manda - Rufus Wainwright is a lovely man. :D Do you have his Across The Universe cover?
Aquarius - Regina Spektor. Everything she does is good.
Deliver Us - Ofra Hazal, Eden Reigel (composed by Stephen Schwartz & Hans Zimmer). Brilliant. Just brilliant.
Bother - Corey Taylor. I think everyone knows this one.
Gravedigger - Dave Matthews. It's a very dark song about mortality, I love it.
The Way - Fastball.
Everlong (Acoustic) - Foo Fighters. I'm not sure which version i like better, they're both pretty good.
Basketcase - Green Day. Yessss. Back when they were cool.

Empyrean, I'm up for a quest whenever you are. You have no idea how glad I am that I'm not the only person who the enjoys same random mix as me. I've had so many people look at my CDs and ask if I suffered from a multiple personality disorder. xD None of it matches.
Anyways, here it goes:
"Zoot Suit Riot" covered by Cherry Poppin' Daddies. I absolutely love big band music. This is just one of my favorites, even though it's just a cover.
"Kiss From A Rose" by Seal. Don't ask me why, but it's been one of my all time favorite songs since I first heard it. And that was a long time ago.
"I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness. I love the old 80sh feel. I am still stuck in that decade... I was born a little late to really enjoy it, though. u_u
"Mr. Brightside" by The Killers. It's just amazingly addictive.
"Love Me When I'm Gone" by Three Doors Down. As an interesting note, I live not far from where these guys grew up. I was going to try out to be in the music video they shot here at home, but couldn't make it for some reason.
"Tempered Steel" composed by Charles Rochester Young. I just loved playing this one. Yes, I'm was a committed band geek in highschool... >_>
Some good old fashioned oldies:
Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas
Staying Alive - The Bee Gees
Calcutta - Lawrence Welk
Sing Sing Sing, With a Swing - Benny Goodman
Watermelon Man - Mongo Santamaria
Sister Golden Hair Surprise - America
Disco Inferno - The Tramps
409 - The Beach Boys

Yeah, we should definitely quest soon. I should probably wait until I get my laptop, so I won't be stuck in the computer lab up at school all the time. So, probably in a few weeks. Gah, the wait.
Alright, you're my musical soulmate or something...because once again, I have/love every song you list. It's nice to know someone else has such varied taste. I can't like just a few genres, I love everything.
That Zoot Suit Riot is one of my favorites, for sure. And have you heard Angela Aki's cover of Kiss From A Rose? Half of it is in Japanese, but it's absolutely beautiful. I love both versions, though.
3 Doors Down is a great band, their music is so easy to get into. It's cool that you lived by them. They are fantastic in concert. :D
Staying on topic, woohoo:
Promise - Eve 6
Ancient Forest of Elves - Luca Turilli. Way more awesome than it sounds. Also amusing.
We Photocopy Our Body Parts - Andrew (Songs to Wear Pants To). Just go to Songs To Wear Pants To (http://songstowearpantsto.com/index.php), and you'll understand. Maybe.
The Last Time I Saw Richard - Joni Mitchell. Joni is and always will be a musical genius. She has one of the most gorgeous voices you'll ever hear on a person.
The Bridge of Khazad Dum (LOTR) - Howard Shore
Don't Wanna Try - Frankie J

No, haven't heard that one by him, Empy.
Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
Incubus - I Miss You (Acoustic)
Plain White Ts - Radios in Heaven
Zeromancer - Dr. Online
From Autumn to Ashes - Chloroform Perfume
Audioslave - I Am Highway
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn
Linkin Park - My December
Soundgarden - Pretty Noose
"Mr. Brightside" by The Killers. It's just amazingly addictive.
That Song reminds me of 28 Days Later so friggin much it's unbelievable.
Wolf Parade - Dears Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts. Fun little song, odd but I love the band lots.
Wham - Jitterbug. Mehehehehehehe. I just love this song. A good beat that you don't hear as much anymore.
Queen - I want to Ride my Bicycle. It's Queen. dur.
Phish - Farmhouse. One of their later songs, and one of my favorite by them. They are a Grateful Dead Style band, and I made the switch back when Garcia died. I'm a dead head! I also saw their final show, and it was made of awesome.
U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday. Just a song, not a big fan, but enjoyable.
Kings of Leon - The Bucket. A nice, punky beat. Band's a bit emo, but eh. I likes them.
Harry McClintock - Big Rock Candy Mountain. From the O Brother Where art Thou soundtrack. Just a fun little folk song to say the very least, about a hobo paradise.
Tool - Vicarious. From 10,000 days. I blame Storm for turning me onto this band, though it's a good blame. Dark song though. Very dark.
????? - 99 Red Balloons. I don't know the artist >< I feel bad about this.
String Cheese Incident - On My Way. Another Grateful Dead like band, pretty good, but not as good as Phish. Still fun, I've seen them live once.
Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall. I wub dis song because of Oz as well. That, and because I blasted it on the l;ast day of school a few months ago.
Bjork - Big Time Sensuality. Just Bjork, I wub her, and use her to help relax a lot.
Queen - Seaside Rendezvous. Just so old-timey and awesome it hurts.
Grateful Dead - Friend of the Devil. Another song so awesome I think it hurts.

Sounds great to me. ^_^ I don't mind waiting. I'm rather patient. Well, when I want to be, any way.
And have you heard Angela Aki's cover of Kiss From A Rose? Half of it is in Japanese, but it's absolutely beautiful. I love both versions, though.
Unfortunately not. And I'm not having any luck finding it for download. ;.; I'd love to hear her version. I can only imagine how wonderful it sounds in Japanese.
3 Doors Down is a great band, their music is so easy to get into. It's cool that you lived by them. They are fantastic in concert.
I know. I got to see them once before they made it big (they were already huge down here) at an annual music fest one of the local stations hosts. They invite local bands to play with well-known acts, and it's just awesome, and they were wonderful. I wish I could have made it to their last concert, though.
That Song reminds me of 28 Days Later so friggin much it's unbelievable.
I had to go and listen to the song again with 28 Days Later in mind just to see. I can't believe how right you are. o_O; Now every time I watch the movie I'll have this song in mind. And now I want to watch it. xD
Wow, that was a lot of quoting. 'Nough of that.
"Hey Jude" by The Beatles. Because they rock, and I love singing that song. I want to see the movie "Across the Universe" as it's supposedly based on The Beatels' songs.
"Pardon Me" by Incubus. It's just an awesome song, and I've always been a big Incubus fan for as long as I can remember.
"Mouth" by Bush. The song is just creepy, and, thanks to "American Werewolve in Paris", it always reminds me of werewolves. I think that's why I love it so much. I'm a bit obsessed with weres. It's amazing I haven't made such a character yet... Hmm...
"X-Files Theme" by DJ Dado. I'm odd like that.
"The Planets Suit" composed by Gustav Holst, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, and conducted by Sir Colin Davis. I can't decide which act is my favorite, Mars or Jupiter.

Awesome. I have three characters to choose from, so whichever one you think would fit best... :) There's Sanoë, Hana, and Rabhya, although I still have to finish the solo with the last one.

Then it is my obligation to introduce you to the wonderfulness that is Angela Aki. I'll upload it for you and PM you the link. Manda, let me know if you want it too.
Out Tonight (http://youtube.com/watch?v=QJBReRzobJI) - Rosario Dawson (from RENT). This is one of my favorite songs from the movie soundtrack. Rosario Dawson has a surprisingly good voice, especially for rock. This is one of those songs you have to blast out your windows and sing along to on a Friday night.
The Red Summer Sun - Third Eye Blind.
Hot Rod Lincoln - Charlie Ryan. I love those old story-telling type songs where it's not actually singing, more just...talking at a rhythm.
Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground. Anyone alive in the nineties must remember this song.
Kenan and Kel Theme Song - Coolio. ....hell, I loved that show.
ABC - The Jackson Five. Yes. Oh yes. Also, pre-creepy Michael Jackson was cool.

Hmmm... I'll have to take a look at the profiles for each of them, although, I'm already leaning towards Sanoë, her being involved with gemstones and all. Kaia is having a crisis with a gem with a mind of its own, so we could get something started with that. Or, if you don't mind waiting a little bit for me to finish up with my new character, which ever one of yours could put up with a loud mouthed centaur would be great.

I just looked them up on YouTube and was much impressed. I listened to one of their songs and there was "drum solo" that was just awesome. xD
Back to topic:
"Tourniquet" by Rasputina. 'Cause cello-playing goth chicks are just wonderful.
"Sweet Lullaby" by Deep Forest. Or Enya. I don't know which.
"Imagine" by John Lennon.
"Princes of the Universe" by Queen.
"The Tempest" composed by Robert W. Smith.

Yea, that was the one I was listening to. You have no idea how hard I was laughing! Then I just felt really old... o_O; I'll have to try out the other band here soon. I'm in great need of new artists to listen to.

Great! :D Just let me know when you're ready, and we can get something hashed out. I probably won't be on a whole lot over the weekend, though. My fiance should be home from work, and when he's home he's playing Diablo II, so no computer for me. >_<
