Kaylith DragonHeart walked through the general bussle of the Bazaar. She was in desperate need of some arrows. She had only ten remaining, and she needed more. "I can't believe I lost so many." She said to herself. She was headed back to Raiaera and she didn't know what she would meet on the way.

She spotted a likely shop, and headed towards it, on her way she was shoved backwards by a human male in a rush. "Excuse you." She said to his retreating back. "Bloody humans."

Kaylith went inside and looked around at the various items in the shop, she had a feeling she would have to come back when she got some more money. She then went over to the counter, and tried to get someone's attention. "Excuse me, I need to purchase some arrows, oaken, steel tipped. What are your prices?"

The bowman whose shop she entered was a handsome young half-Elven male with brown hair and shining green eyes. He was just fletching a beautiful set of cyper and plynt arrows, but he looked up and smiled as the lady stepped into his shop and requested arrow prices for simple steel and oaken arrows.

Grinning, he slid from the counter where he was seated to land lithely on his feet.

"Welcome to Josam's Shop of Bows and Accessories. I'm Mark, running the shop for my father in his absence. Steel and oak arrows..." he leaned back, running his hand through his thick hair. He knew his cyper and plynt arrows were five a piece, oak and steel would be considerably cheaper.

"I think those are two gold each. How many do you need?"

Kaylith looked at Mark, fully aware of how handsome he looked, and a little ruffled. She watched as he slid from the counter, admiring him, and it took her a couple of seconds to realize he spoke and what he had said.

"Oh, um, about forty. I've either lost or broke my others, unless you could recommend anything that's a little more sturdier?" She replied, blushing very lightly and hoping he hadn't noticed her looking at him.

Sorry was in the wrong account

"Personally, I'm a fan of ash arrows with prevalida heads, but we rarely ever have any. Right now, I have a set of fifteen cyper and plynt arrows just made, with a few needing fletching, and I have ash and steel and oak and steel arrows in abundance."

He held up the arrows, admiring the light brown shafts and the dark green heads. "Plynt is a great metal if you want to coat it with oil for flaming arrows or poison. It's also fairly sturdy. These are five GP each."

Kaylith took one of the arrows and gave it an admiring look over, noting it's lightness and ran her fingers over the shaft. It looked good. She thought for a moment as she looked at the head.

"Would you be able to do me twenty of these and twenty oak and steel ones?" She said handing back the arrow. She thought about a couple of things she could tip them with, that she hadn't been able to do with her other ones.

"I don't currently have any more plynt heads, but if you come back in...a couple of days, I'd say, I can have five more done."

He grinned at her, white teeth flashing in a friendly gesture. "Anything else you might want? Sure, we produce arrows, but our real beauties are our bows."

As she pulled out her bow from behind her, she remembered her father giving it to her. The love that had shown on his face. The then remembered her father's face as she last saw him. The anger in his face made Kaylith shudder.

"I'll just take the fifteen arrows and twenty five oak and steel. I need to head out today. I only have very limited funds, so if you could take this old bow in, what type of bow would you recommend to replace it? Longbows are my specialty."

"Talymer is a good wood for longbows...but it requires a lot of strength to get a good draw to it. Personally, my bow is made of yew. It's flexible, but not too flexible, and not too stubborn."

He chuckled softly. "My dad -- Josam -- he prefers talymer. It all depends on what you're looking for in a bow, I'd guess."

She chuckled. "Most males do I imagine. I'm not really planning on fighting anything in strong armour, so I guess I'll go for a yew."

She then thought about something that she had been wanting to do with her other bow. "Do you do any runes here? If I don't have enough money now I may come back, I was looking for one to aid accuracy."

Karuka

"I don't do runes here, and I think it's more an enchantment or glyph you're looking for. There's a shop down the street that does that, but they aren't cheap."

He moved to the wall to gather the twenty-five best oak and steel arrows he had available, and motioned to the wall.

"The yew ones are the golden browns in the center. Find the one you like, and we'll set you up."

She went over and looked at the bows. They were all pretty standard, nothing really special about them, but there was just one amongst them that seemed to catch her eye. It was the same as any of the others, but it just seemed to call to her. She pulled it out and pulled back the string. It fitted her perfectly.

She walked back over to the counter and put the bow down. "So how much is this little lot going to cost me?" She asked and smiled.

"One twenty five for the arrows, and...well."

Mark grinned as he looked up from wrapping the arrows into bunches, taking the bow from her hands and gently stroking along its smooth length.

"I wondered who would come and take this one. I put a lot of love into making this bow just right, trying to make it perfect. It isn't, of course...but it is better than the other ones. It's priced at a hundred twenty five, as well...just to make sure that whoever bought it knew it was worth taking good care of."

He set it down. "Anything else you need?"

She thought as she counted out the correct money. "Any chance of a couple of spare bow strings? Apart from those, that's it really."

When she had finished counting out the money, she smiled at him. "I promise to take good care of the bow. I always treat them with the respect they deserve."

Karuka

"Tell you what...I'll throw in three spare strings for free, sound good?"

Gathering up a few of the sturdy catgut strings, he bagged them with the arrows, and handed her purchases to her.

"Take care, and may your journeys be peaceful."

She took her purchases, put her new bow across her back where her old one used to sit and smiled. "Thank you, and keep making those bows, you have a natural talent that shouldn't go to waste."

She headed for the door, and just before going through, she turned back. "I have no doubt I'll be back whenever I need more arrows, I hope to meet you again." She gave him one last smile and went back outside.

Mark smiled back and then picked up another block of cyper wood. He still had work to do, after all.
