Skie walked into the tailors shop, looking around in a little interest. It was obvious of why she was here. Her shirt, once white and green stripes, was now marred with blotches of bloodstains. A large hole gaped in the back of the shirt where once a wing had been. Now there was nothing but scar tissue there, a haunted hurt look in her eyes that nearly mirrored the level of pain she'd endured for the injury.

She searched upon the racks for a few moments and after several trips back and forth from the dressing room doors, she found herself before the front desk. She laid several items on the counter. The first was a white linen shirt, simple in it's cut. It managed to be pretty without showing much skin. With it, she had chosen a light honey doeskin pair of trousers. On top of the clothing she placed a thin woven green belt.

"Good morning," she greeted the shopkeep. After looking at her selections for a moment, she cocked her head to the side and looked in a small glass box that was kept on an oaken stand. Within it, several silver necklaces hung. On a thin chain, a small heart hung, a simple lock engraved on its curved surface.

"Oh, that's pretty," she commented as she leaned in to admire the detail of the engraving.

"S'not real," she shopekeep started as he began to look at the pricing tags of her clothing, folding them up and placing them in a small bag.

"Well, that's okay. The feelings it reminds me of are real enough. How much is it?"

Etain had been in the business for thirty years, and had seen many people come through the door of his shop.

Most were spoiled brats, in for something new -- a new shirt for their wardrobe, a new trinket. Occasionally he'd see someone that was roughed up like this woman had been. Sometimes he could see the same haunted, empty look in their eyes. But it wasn't really his business to ask.

"Twenty for th' necklace. If it's something important for you ta have, best around your neck than gatherin' dust in here. As for th' clothes..."

Mentally, he tallied up his prices. "A hundred ten for th' clothes and belt. Hundred thirty, total."

Skie frowned. It had been several years since she'd gone shopping for clothes. Had things always been this expensive? Even for the simple, fine quality of the clothes, it seemed a bit much, but she counted out the gold and placed it on the counter. Her hand, however, did not move from the small pile of coinage that she had set down.

"One thirty," she said agreeing, "for the items and a fitting to make sure that they look their best."

She gave him a pretty smile, cocking her head to the side, though there was a steeled resolve in the set of her jaw.

"We have fitting rooms at the back," he said non-commitally, placing the necklace on the pile.

"If your wares don't fit, call out for 'Lissa. She's a good stitch and will fix ya up as nice as ya like."

With a grin, she took her hand off the gold and gathered up the clothes she'd bought. The fitting room was small, but a good mirror hung on the wall. After she undressed, Skie stuffed her dirty clothes in the small bag, and hurriedly dressed in the new.

The shirt clung well to her curves, showing her shape while leaving all the specifics to be a mere guess. It buttoned up the front, the top two buttons uncomfortable to close. They didn't reveal much, however, and the gap it created displayed the small silvery necklace perfectly. She pulled on the pants, tucking them into her boots, but let the shirt hang over. Turning slightly, she did see something she'd like altered, while she had the luxury of asking it gratis.

"Lissa!?" she called. When she heard footsteps shuffling closer, she unlocked the dressing room door and continued to speak. "This shirt is a little long on me. Could you please take it up a couple of inches at the bottom hem?"

Lissa was a little slip of a girl, maybe fifteen, but she had a good eye for clothes and deft hands with a needle.

She came and looked over the customer with her dark green eyes, folding up the hem and thinking how it would look.

"That won't take long. Would you like a space cut in the back of the shirt for your wing as well?"

Skie turned her head slightly to the side, her eyes narrowing. Her voice dropped, the tone flattening. It had all the malice of a poised viper, and none of the kindness of the numbing agents of it's venom.

"What wing?"

((I edited and bolded a small segment of the first post. Hun, yer slipping. I placed it rather obviously in front of you when I first entered that this is Skie wingless. And that Skie wingless had come at a great price for her. Your little NPC is about to be strangled.))

Lissa couldn't see the scars Skie had on her body, since they were covered by the shirt. But the woman's vicious glare made her flinch back.

"Umm...I'm sorry. I thought I saw you when I was a little girl, and you had a wing. I thought you were hiding it again. It must have been someone else. I'll hem that up for you, and it won't take more than a few minutes."

Skie waited patiently and silently while the hem was taken up and then moved out of the dressing room to the main store, where she nodded to the shopkeep. Before leaving, she handed Lissa a 5 gold piece, guilty for having frightened the girl.
