Autumn
07-17-07, 04:18 PM
Name: Autumn Horizon
Age: 31
Race: Aleraran Elf (Drow?)
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Dark Blue
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 134 lbs.
Occupation: Princess

Personality: Autumn is a bold young drowess, decisive and dangerous. She has a quick temper, but in most cases knows better than to let it explode. She is quite capable of being the perfect proud, sweet, endearing drow princess when surrounded by other royalty and nobles, but drops this false pretext when alone or among friends. Her position in life (see history) has made her slightly bitter and added to her fiery-hot attitude.

She considers herself fully matured, but by drow standards is still quite young. Being reminded of this by her elders frustrates her further, and whenever she can she enjoys giving her bodyguards the slip and going on adventures of her own. A scarring event in her young childhood has made Autumn alienated to the ideas of intimate physical contact. Although she does not mind being touched by those she trusts, a stranger doing so much as resting a hand on her shoulder is one of the many things which can set off her rage.

Appearance: Autumn's body is athletically slim, perhaps average by drow standards, but with very dense muscles. Despite looking rather delicate, she is powerful and tough. Even by elven standards, Autumn is beautiful. Her eyes are very large and coloured a dark, almost navy blue. Her skin is a deep olive, her lips slightly lighter with a reddish tinge. She has delicate, refined cheekbones and perfect white teeth. Her hair is very dark brown, so dark that when it is wet, or even damp, it looks black. Her body is curvy and well endowed, well proportioned to her height and weight. Most of her height is in her legs, which are long and shapely, made slim and attractive by her constant training. She does not smile often, but when she does her eyes seem to sparkle, and many have said if she wanted to she could charm the birds right out of the trees.

Generally, however, Autumn's full mouth will be seen set in a firm line, her eyes hard and challenging. Whenever she is not required to wear the "impractical" gowns and dresses which she must dawn for social gatherings, Autumn can be found wearing tight pants and shirts in earth tones. Such colours compliment her skin and hair quite well, and the clothing allows for her extremely active lifestyle.

History: Autumn was born the third daughter, and fourth child of Bon'Hid Horizon, a Duke in the court of King Edari'axa. Due to her royal bloodline-- Autumn is a second cousin to the King-- she was immediately put in line for the throne. Autumn's two older sisters, both of whom were in their thirties when she was born, are 2nd and 3rd in line for the Royal Throne. Autumn is 12th. Destined to be a lady-in-waiting forever, Autumn was set a simple task from day one; stay single, and stay alive in case all 11 other heirs die. To this day, Autumn is still 12th in line for the throne, and frustrated by the limits this puts on her lifestyle.

From a young age, the drow princess' life was guided by two caretakers. One was an ancient nursing maid who was also a powerful sorceress. The other, the maid's husband, was also one of the King's many court jesters. Autumn's parents were always too wrapped up in politics to care for her, as were her older siblings. Autumn did not, in fact, ever learn the names of her caretakers. To her, they were just the Maid, and the Jester.

When the Jester began to molest Autumn at age six, no one noticed. During their reading lessons he would make Autumn sit on his lap, although she was not comfortable there, and at times would grope her roughly through her clothing. The young princess did not know what to make of this, but knew it was not right.

Some months after the molestation began, the Maid noticed a dark green bruise on Autumn's chest. Upon hearing the truth of what had happened, the Maid told Autumn if she ever told anyone else the truth, she would be severely punished. Horrified, but trusting the word of her two guardians absolutely, Autumn lived out the next two years of her life in misery, always fearing when the next attack would come.

On her eighth birthday, the jester approached Autumn in her sleeping quarters, saying he had a "special present" for her. That day, for the first time the man reached under Autumn's dress, and this was the straw that broke the camel's back. Although she was still a small child, Autumn had been learning the basics of Da'Venest since she was five (See Skills), and knew the power of small joint manipulation. She caught the Jester by surprise, trapping his forearm between her slim muscular legs and seizing his hand with both of hers. She broke three of his fingers and fled the room, pursued by the Jester's screams of rage.

The princess' flight took her through many parts of the castle, until finally she met her brother. The eldest of the four children, Danvear was a Captain in the King's Guard. The tears on his sister's face and the panic in her eyes was enough to hell him something was wrong, and the young warrior listened as she told him what had happened.

Enraged at what he heard, Danvear drew his dagger and charged off to find the Jester. When he could not, a full scale search of the castle and surrounding area was orchestrated, but both the Jester and the Maid had vanished like smoke into the night sky.

From that point on, Autumn's parents only trusted her upbringing to family members. Her two older sisters took turns caring for her on a weekly basis, and her brother continued her education in combat, both unarmed and with weapons. The rest of Autumn's life was largely uneventful-- she attended Balls, Feasts, and many other appropriate social outings, smiling and making small talk to help further her parents' standing. Due to her scarred past, she had trouble trusting outsiders, preferring to spend her spare time reading or training, or visiting with her family.

Skills:
Royal Training: Although being 12th in line for the throne practically ensures that Autumn will never be Queen, the princess was nonetheless given the same treatment as all those above her. Her Royal training taught her to do everything from read, write and speak both Aleraran and Common, to how to ride a horse, to public speaking.

Weapon Group Proficiency; Thrown Projectiles: Autumn has been training from a young age with throwing spikes. She knows the proper techniques for throwing these weapons, and can also use them to stab in close combat situations. Although this proficiency can apply to any thrown projectiles (darts, shurikens, kunai, a rock) Autumn prefers the use of tassled throwing spikes. Overall, her skill with thrown weapons is average.

Da'Venest: This is a drowish form of martial arts taught to Autumn by her Father's bodyguards and her older brother. It is a form taught only to members of the Royal Family and their closest servants. Da'Venest is a combination of grappling/submission techniques and quick, well aimed, often lethal strikes. The central idea is to gain control of your opponent by hyperextending a limb or choking them, then if necessary, finishing them by attacking the eyes, throat, or solar plexus. Autumn is still a novice by drow terms, but her skills in this art make her significantly more dangerous than a person who has no hand to hand combat training.

Knowledge: Having spent a great deal of time in her father's libraries, Autumn knows a great deal about most documented parts of Althanas. However, her knowledge comes from books, not experience; she is more likely to be able to tell the difference between two Salvarian beasts than know how to kill them. Essentially, she is well read, but a little naive in the ways of the world.

Royal Blood (innate): Autumn's bloodline can be traced back to the War of the Tap, and this lends her several advantages. Her natural resistance to foreign toxins (everything from poison to alcohol) is approximately 1.5 times as strong as a normal drow.

Drow Senses (innate): Due to her race, Autumn can see and hear approximately 1.5 times as well as an average human. Her low-light vision is exemplary, and in perfect dark she see's clearly, but in black and white.

Stealth: Autumn's natural grace and slim form are excellent assets when it comes to being sneaky. She has been taught to move undetected by her older brother through both the corridors of the castle and through nearby woods. Overall, her stealth is average.

Conditioning: Due to constant conditioning, Autumn has excellent cardio and muscular endurance.

Animal Affinity; Birds: Autumn seems to have a natural "way" with most non-hostile creatures, and this is magnified in most birds. She enjoys watching birds, and fancies that she can actually communicate with them, just by thinking the right thoughts. This is extremely limited due to how stupid birds are in comparison to sentient creatures.

Equipment: Autumn family is very wealthy, therefore when at home she has access to many different kinds of equipment. However, for the practical purpose of most roleplaying threads, Autumn will be carrying:
(6) Iron throwing spikes w/ red silk tassles
(1) Set of tanned leather armor
Whatever clothes she is wearing
(1) Royal Crest, an item which, when shown, may bring her aid from anyone loyal to the dark elven royals.

I can't allow you to be "proficient" in throwing weapons, especially given how many skills you have now. I'm going to have to ask you to make that average, and have average stealth. I'm also going to ask you to limit the toxin resistance. Able to resist "anything" that well is a bit much.

Also, don't powergame Da'Venest or your Bird Affinity.

I'd also kinda like a PM or IM from Wraith, the Alerar writer, letting me know that you're allowed to be so high up in his Heirarchy from the get-go, as a courtesy.

Edited. Hopefully the changes suit your terms.

I will contact Wraith to ask for permission, although I have no intention to Powergame Autumn's status or any of her abilities. Essentially she is an heir who will never have any real power.

All right, approved.
