I don't know how this happened, but my desktop has become crunched. Theres a strip of black blank screen at the top and bottom of this window, and my desktop. This means that everything looks distorted and unproportioned, and I have to scroll to see most things.
I really don't know alot about computers, so I have no idea how to fix this. I'm *assuming* my little brother did something stupid to cause this, because he's always screwing around with stuff when he gets bored. At any rate, please help me before I go crazy from not being able to see what I'm typing.
With most desktop computers, there's a knob or set of buttons along the monitor to mess with screen height/width and brightness.
If what Karuka said doesn't help, then it's probably not about your monitor but your graphic card. Try right-clicking anywhere on desktop, click "properties", choose the "settings" tab and change your resolution. If that doesn't help, try doing the same as above, only click the "advanced" button, choose the "monitor" tab and change the refreshment rate. Sometimes my desktop becomes crunched after a restart and that helps.

And if that doesn't help, there's one more thing to check...
The Monitor itself.
There's a chance that, if given enough beating, the screen tubes can become detached or screwed up that will result in the screen getting crunched (either horizontally or vertically). First-hand experience, Computer Lab at my dorm has this kind of problem as well.
If Karuka's method didn't help... It's time to buy a new monitor. :p

Or if all of the above doesn't satisfy your needs, I can loan you a baseball bat or an ax to use... We can even take it out to a remote clearing off to the side of a highway, and I can blare gangster rap anthems on my stereo while you have at it.
Sorry I don't have anything intelligent to offer here, I'm not very savvy when it comes to this sort of thing.

Yay Office Space references!
You don't have speakers sitting above and/or below your monitor do you? Because that's what caused my old television to have the problem you describe. Anyways, here's hoping one of your settings just got screwed up. Good luck!
