Final Fantasy Dissidia

The news off the press is that the new Final Fantasy game scheduled to be released on the much loved PSP is to be a scorcher. Final Fantasy Dissidia is set to feature what can be imagined as a Kingdom Hearts - Ehregeiz cross breed, based on characters from past FF installations. Confirmed characters to date are as follows:

Warrior of Light: Final Fantasy
Garland: Final Fantasy
Sephiroth: Final Fantasy VII
Zidane Tribal: Final Fantasy IX
Kuja: Final Fantasy IX

There is an official website with a great deal of nothing on it at the moment aside from a flash movie. Wikipedia, as god-awful as it can be, is about all the information we have on it at the moment, but it does sport a screenshot.

Personally, i'd love to see Laguna, or Kefka, the maniac clown, feature. Who are your favorites for an appearance?

Personally I would like to see Zack from FFVII get a mention. I think he has been seriously neglected, as has Steiner / Beatrix from FFIX, in the Final Fantasy franchise. If I had to only choose ten playable characters:

1. Kefka (FFIX)
2. Sephiroth (FFIX)
3. Trance Kuja (FFIX)
4. Zidane Tribal (FFIX)
5. Laguna Loire (FFVIII)
6. Seifer Almasy (FFVIII)
7. Sabin / Edgar (FFVI)
8. Vivi (FFIX)
9. Auron (FFX)
10. Reno (from the Turks, FFVII)

That's another thing I dislike about the FFVII franchise. In games like Ehregeiz, where were the Turks, a gang of people speciallised in kicking the s*** out of everything? Surely Reno, Rude and Tseng should have got a mention.

But anyway, I prey that they get a part in this.

I also hope Raijin and Fuijin get in there so I can batter them with the 'Roth. Annoying assholes.

My best friend plans on going to Anime Boston as Zack for precisely that reason. :D

And being able to play Reno would kick ass.

Personally, the top three I'd like to see:
-Vincent (FFVII)— Gunners kick ass.
-Balthier (FFXII)— See above and add in a personality that's borderline arrogant at times without being completely obnoxious. YAY Balthier!
-Rydia (FFIV)— The remake of FFIV is the game that got me into the series, and out of all the characters I'd really like to see Rydia in 3D. Plus, summoners kick just as much ass as gunners. :D

With all the possibly good characters, Squeenix should take five or six from every FF game and throw them in a Smash Brothers style game instead of the seemingly thin lineup this game will probably have.

Well, the alleged totals are something along the lines of twenty or so characters, but that is sheer speculation. All we know so far are that the playable characters so far are Sephiroth, Kuja, FF1 Garland, FF1 Warrior of Light and Zidane Tribal. RUMOURED characters have included Squall Leonhart, Cloud Strife (I can't see Sephy being in it without him), Tifa Lockhart and Vincent. But again, all speculation, fans probably acting on their hard-ons.

Heh, if FF8 Biggs and Wedge make an appearance, I'll either laugh my ass off or start cursing a blue streak. Possibly both. Annoying bastards.

I second Laguna Loire and Seifer Almasy (both FF8). Laguna always makes things awesome and funny, and personally I'd like to see Seifer's story continued.

I'd even throw in Quistis Trepe and Zel Dincht, I was always fond of those two.

Looks more like a smash-brothers play style than an RPG. I want to see this in standard, old, random battle style.

My thoughts on good "all-star" characters:

FF1 - No characters. This game didn't develop them well.
FF2 - This game was horrible, everything about it. You could max your character before the first battle. No surprise it never came to the US.
FF3 - Never played
FF4 - Lots of characters here, but I think the Dark Knight / Cecil character would work ok.
FF5 - Never played, heard it was quite good.
FF6 - Tons of options. Sabin would be ok. Edgar would be OK. Terra would be GREAT, since her morphing and multiple personality thing fits well. Cyan was boring, and Shadow is too popular for a crappy character already. Relm and Strago were interesting, but like Umaro, Mog, and Momo, they don't really fit in. Celes bored me to tears. Gau could be awesome. Locke is practically needed, and Setzer was fantastic.
FF7 - Barrett, yes. Tifa, no. Cid, yes. Cloud, yes. Vincent, RedXIII, Yuffie, Aeris, no no no no. Big stupid stay puff guy, hell no.
FF8 - Zell, Seifer, and Selphie would work.
FF9 - No.
FFX - Auron, Lulu, and Rikku.

Didn't play any after that. If there was going to be one leader, it would have to be Cloud, because he is the face of the whole franchise (like it or not).

Not sure how the magic characters would work though, unless they play like Kuja, throwing energy balls everywhere before meking it go boom
