View Full Version : Valanthe Xiloscent

Valanthe
07-28-07, 11:29 AM
Name: Valanthe Xiloscent
Age: 120
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 90 lbs
Occupation: Druidess
Languages known: Common, Tradespeak, Druid.

Valanthe Xiloscent is not a common kind of elf. Her hair is white, as pure white as the Driven snow, and her skin is a sort of nutmeg brown. She commonly wears Animal hides, and has several Bird Feathers intangled and tied into her hair, along with several beads of varying colors. She also has the rack of an elk neatly inserted at the top of her head. Her hair is wrapped around it keeping it in place. Her movements are quick and graceful. Yet the most interesting feature about her, is that she appears to be both Alerarian, and Raiaeraian at the same time, for her physical features appear to be a blend of both. Always at her side is her She-Wolf, Moonbeam.

History: Her parentage is unknown and uncertain, as to who was her mother, and who was her Father. Abandoned as a baby she was found by a kindly old man, who was also a Master Druid. Though he was getting on in years, he took and raised Valanthe as his own daughter, and taught her the only life he knew, that of a druid. She had a happy childhood, and her teacher was a good Father. The women of his Grove were as good a bunch of mothers as any child could hope for. She grew quickly, and soon learned the ways of a Druid. Disease and pestillence struck, and the aged druids who raised her, fell to disease. However, having the racial traits of both the Raiaerans who had remarkably good resistance to disease and poison, and the stocky hardiness of the Alerarans, Valanthe survived. Before he died, Her master and father passed on one last secret to Valanthe, the Locket he found on her as a baby. Inscribed upon it were two mysterious Family Crests, and her name.

Having nothing to keep her there any longer, Valanthe decided to explore the world and see if she could find out who her family was, but Valanthe had never once seen the civilised world, and so is unaware of such things as the hatred between Alerarians and Raiaerans, and many other things.

What shall she find in this big world?

Skills:
Druidic Knowledge: Valanthe knows the sort of things a Druid should know, such as how to commune with nature (Similar to praying to a diety), how to live out in the wild, speak wolfs. Its like having a natural talent for an instrument. One or two lessons may not make you Mozart, but potential is there.) predict the weather, that sort of thing. She may not know everything yet, but she certainly knows enough to be taken seriously as a Druidess, though does have difficulty with non-mammilians.

Miracle of nature: Valanthe was unable to learn everything her master knew before he died. However she did learn enough to cause Miracles like most wizards use magic. While she isn't skilled enough to consistently do large scale things, she finds she can do smaller things well enough throughout the day. A blast of flame, a Ball of Ice, a spark of lightning, these are just examples of what she can do. Being a Druidess, she can use any aspect of nature. She has also found that she can really only do about 8 or 10 such small miracles a day before nature stops responding. Sometimes when she manages one really big feat normally beyond what she can easily do, Nature stops responding as well.

Marksmanship: Valanthe is skilled in the usage of bows.

Nature's Response: The mark of a true Druid/Druidess. Plant life just seems healthier in Valanthe's presence, and Animals exibit a similar response. Everything just seems better in Valanthe's presence. Currently this effect extends a mere 10 feet from her presence, and fades when she leaves the area.

Equipment: A single Club made of Oak.
Leather clothes. These leathers were made by her master, and though their worn from years of use, its clear he knew well what he was doing when he made them, for they appear suited for many more years of use. One can see a variety of woodland creatures in her hides.

Small Silver Locket. On the surface is inscribed her name. Inside is her Mother and Father's seperate Family crests. It is unclear where it came from, or what families these crests belong to, however the Locket was enchanted when it was made. It can heal Valanthe throughout the day. Its strength is dependant upon Valanthe's skill with nature, and therefor can only heal one or two small wounds a day. She wouldn't sell this locket for the world. Its the only clue she has to her family.

Sex: Female
Age: Five
Species: Eastern Timber Wolf
Height: 34 inches at the shoulder
Weight 150 lbs

She has the classic calm demeanor of a wolf, but on occasion has been known to get rather playful with Valanthe. They are sisters in spirit, and as such, Moonbeam will not hesitate to leap to her sisters defense. Moonbeam is quite communicative, being able to relay the nature of her needs and desires in body lanquage alone, though she also has a beautiful Howl.
Unless otherwise directed by Valanthe, moonbeam does not enjoy nor appreciate random strangers touching her, though has been known to permit small children to pet her, provided they pet her nicely.

Equipment:
Sharp jagged wolf teeth, product of evolution, designed to kill.

skills and abilities:
Wolf senses: A wolf can sense its prey up to 3 Kilometers away, in addition, its Eye sight is remarkably well adapted towards hunting, and can see very well with minimum light, such as at sunrise or sunset.

Some of the abilities under "Druidic Knowledge" are far too vague for my comfort. Please define "commune with nature," and please give her a preferred class of animal or otherwise define it.

Also, please scale down the number of "miracles" per day by a few, since that's a lot for level zero, and note that they may do mild to moderate damage. Also note that at this level, she may not cure a blight or summon a storm, even with a major miracle.

Also, she may be average with a bow, provided she does not have more than below average skill with the club.

Also please provide a mini profile for your familiar, including skills.

Though it was edited in,

Communing with nature is the same as praying to a diety. she does not yet know of the Thayne goddess of nature, Y'edda, I think. But that's something reserved for a future quest.

As for speaking with animals, its a literal meaning. She can speak to animals as easily as we can talk to our neighbors. As written she's most familier with wolfs, thus a prefrence, but can still speak with others easier than we can, for instance, she can converse with a horse better than we can and sooth it easier if its out of control, unless your a horse whisperer, then your even better than she is, currently.

And she has no skill with a club, at all. She prefers using bows and arrows. The Club is just a desperation weapon for when she has no other option, not even her powers. She practiced daily with her Bow, until it broke, but then the Disease hit and her master died. She might gain some skill with it in the future, but for now her attacks are just deperation attacks like a cornered frightened animal. I plan on using the Bazaar voucher for another, better bow.

Miracles were edited down to 8 or ten.

We'll say that she's fluent in Wolf, capable with Mammals, and has difficulty with other creatures, all right?

Eight or ten miracles may do mild damage. Four to five may do moderate. Even a major may not be lethal at your level. You can choose what happens, but keep in mind that every moderate damage miracle is worth 2 or even 3 minor damage miracles. Also, if you want to save a tree from blight or something, you may save A tree, not an entire forest, and you can't raise a crop in a day. Maybe at later levels. I'm spelling this out because I see a lot of potential for powergaming here.

And when I asked you to make a profile for your familiar, I asked you to do something more closely related to this (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=4131). The familiar's profile is found at the bottom of the first post.

Please make the changes to your Talk with Animals skill, and note that you may not use your familiar in combat without your opponent's OOC permission.

The only reason Seraphima got her pet as first-line defense is because he's really her ONLY line of defense.

Also...she's really a lightweight. That wolf is like, three feet high at the withers, meaning she should be at least 150-175 pounds, or you've been starving your beast.

Also, you may not sell your locket, just in case.

Language edited. Weight upped.

I didn't want a fat wolf, then again, a starved wolf isn't much better if 150 pounds would be lean and muscular, then that's ok The websites I used to look up wolfs never really mentioned what a wolf's ideal weight would be.

As for the Locket, I mentioned in the last line of its Paragraph specificly that she wouldn't sell it, though, I never edited it in, it had always been there from the beginning.
