His eyes are a prestine color of platinum, something that is rarely seen in any child. He typically wears an old mask of a ninja, a memento from his father he claims. His other attire include a crimson cowl, and a large white scarf that drapes around his neck. Due to his mask, few people ever see Play Back's face.
Origins:
Born to a Jeanie and John Maddox, Ryan Maddox was the son of a noblemans daughter and said nobleman's top assassin. The first three years of his life, and even his parents marriage were both kept from his grandfather. In his third year, Ryans parents decided to move away from their assassin lifestyle to pursue a more peaceful life in Alerar. Surprisingly enough, the child and his parents did move without a hitch and lead a normal and otherwise mundane lifestyle.
It was not until Ryan hit adolesence thgat his powers began to manifest themselves. He originally wanted to know how he could get the affections of one Elle May Wayne. As he desired this more and more, an opportunity finally arose where Ryan was able to look into her eyes, and for a split second share a romantic moment. In that brief moment of eye contact, however, Ryan actually read the mind of his crush and even began to see the past as if he had lived it himself. The sudden blur of a lifetime also worked two ways, as Elle May had seen Ryan's life 'Play Back' before her very eyes.
It was in this way that Ryan was able to see his love's fears, weaknesses, and otherwise most intimate details. The ability also worked in the opposite way for Elle May, who knew the innermost workings of Ryan. The two planned to run away together upon knowing every single detail about the other. Fate had other ideas.
The next day, Elle May was ran over by a runaway carriage. The driver was not watching where he was going and upon the time of death, Ryan himself experienced what Elle May's last sights were first hand. This brought Ryan into recluse. He refused to talk to anyone, not even his own parents. It is at this point in the story that Ryan meets David Finch, an elf of Alerar who specialized in awkward abilities.
He was the first person to bring Ryan out of seclusion, and soon the two formed a very good friendship. It wasn't until weeks later that David explained to Ryan that he was gathering children with unique abilities to do special work for him, and he would like Ryan to be field leader. The boy took his mentors words to heart, and told his parents. His mother and father were as upset as any parent would be knowing that their son was about to leave them, possibly forever. However, Ryan's mother gave him a scarf to keep warm, and his father gave him his old mask and kunai blade. The three shared a heartfelt moment as Ryan waved goodbye to go on a do better things.
For four years Ryan worked under David as his team leader on the field. David was like a father figure to the boy but then one day, David told Ryan of a great disaster to come. He told the boy that only he could stop it, for only he could meet the one who would cause this disaster. Only he could stop this person who would destroy Althanas, this 'Black-Hearted Man' as David named him. Knowing this meant leaving his second family, Ryan was reluctant to leave, but after enough coercing from David and his teammates, he did so.
Now, Ryan is gathering stronger allies, ones that could aid him in stopping this great disaster. "Go to Radasanth," were David's final words to the boy, "There you will find clues about the Black-Hearted Man." With nothing more than his mentors words to carry him on, Ryan set out on his journey to find powerful heroes.
Powers:
Play Back's most notable ability is his "Play Back" Telepathy. While he can read his opponents mind upon making direct eye contact with them, it has major drawbacks. It allows Play Back to see the whole life story of his opponent in the course of a few seconds, helping to guide the boy into knowing his target's strengths and weaknesses. However, the same thing happens to the target, who would then be able to expose Ryan's weaknesses and fears as well.
Other than that, Play Back has exhibited mild teleportation (he vcan teleport about 3 feet in any direction, though it drains him physically) . He also has learned several illusion spells. Nothing too grandoise, just appearences that may or may not be there. A strong mind can see through Play Back's illusions easily.
Fears:
Play Back is claustrophobic, as well as deathly afraid of carriages, due to the first experience with his powers.
Weapons: Play Back only weilds a single kunai blade in combat. Nothing special, just a steel memento from his father. He is somewhat competent with the weapon.
Armor: Play Back's scarf is flame resistant, and his mask helps him resist low-level mental probes/attacks.
