Setkun Qarr
08-14-07, 07:33 AM
Name: Setkun Qarr
Age: 21
Race: Human
Class: Mage
Alignment: Dark / Chaotic
Hair: Long, silver, waist length.
Eyes: Silver with hints of quartz
Description:
Setkun Qarr, the arrogant and self centered mage who had once ruled over Relm with an iron will and brought fear to its people, seems to favor aristocratic dress over the stereotypical magician’s robes. His upper attire consists of a long sleeved, loose white satin shirt with polished silver bangles clamped to the wrists, and instead of buttons the shirt is kept closed with a silver hoop above the centre of his chest, lashed with silk ties to several folds. Setkun’s lower attire is a pair of light blue gray satin pantaloons, tied at the waist with a somewhat lavish silver cord, and a pair of leather boots.
Setkun’s style of dress and appearance is misleading. Despite him looking very much upper class, he is capable of atrocious behavioral characteristics.
Weapon: Dragonclaw Silver Staff
Hand crafted from the finest silver, the Dragonclaw is Setkun’s treasured channeling staff. The diameter of the staff is a mere three inches, hollowed out at the low end to hide a four inch retractable double edged steel knife blade. At the top end, a dragon’s head is carved with its jaws dropped open, revealing a Quartz crystal. Here, Setkun’s magical energy is stored and channeled for battle.
Once, during Setkun’s time as the most powerful and feared mage in Relm, a blood red Quartz crystal was found in the Dragonclaw’s gaping jaws. This Quartz was said to contain the power of the darkness itself, but was claimed and eventually destroyed by Setkun’s nemesis and antagonist Carrion the Light during Setkun’s downfall.
Magic:
Pandora’s Scholar (Level 0) – The ability to learn other spells from people Setkun meets. When cast Setkun is enveloped in a silver light, and is able to learn spells not normally available to him. (Conditions for this are that the learnt spell HAS to be seen working or used against him at least once in battle, and requested as a spoil at the end of a thread. The spell learnt starts at Level 0 and not the level of the character who it was learnt from. Also, Setkun can NOT use this spell in the battle or thread he learnt it.)
Quartz Light (Level 0) – A magical pillar of light a metre in diameter, belonging to no elemental property, cast from the Dragonclaw that causes medium physical damage to anything it hits. Cannot penetrate armor stronger than steel.
Skills: Dragon Tamer – Setkun’s time in Relm allowed him to become a tamer of beasts, particularly dragons, one of which is now his method of transportation and only companion. Setkun is able to understand the nature of dragons and communicate with them verbally.
Personality:
A mage obsessed with power and its application, Setkun Qarr is ambitious, cruel, narcissistic and ruthless. He is also a fond seeker of knowledge, and does whatever he can to ensure he is always one step ahead of anyone who might threaten his goals. Setkun emulates the role of a traditional villain, including such elements as speaking in monologue even when alone, but there is also something a lot deeper inside him locked away, something much darker than a power hungry human mage.
NPC: Loire
Loire is Setkun’s dragon, and indeed the most feared and respected dragon of Relm, even amongst some of the sacred colonies. Despite Setkun’s utter hatred of most powerful beasts, Loire captured his heart when he turned on his own clan after they betrayed Setkun to Carrion the Light, attempting to attain peace with the heroic warrior. In one battle alone Loire destroyed over a hundred dragons. Setkun, having been carried on Loire’s back to safety after his own defeat, realized his dragon mirrored his own image and decided to look after the beast, repaying his loyalty.
Loire is only used as a non aggressive NPC and can not be used in battle, and only for transportation and story purposes.
Background:
(Simple, but to be expanded upon soon)
Setkun Qarr is a ruthless tyrant hailing from an alternate world known as Relm. On this plane, which is not dissimilar from Althanian lands, he was once the most powerful mage in the entire land, bringing entire nations to its knees as his private army of fanatics who wished not to be killed completely decimated everything that stood in their way. With power, fortune and prestige to his name, Setkun was satisfied he had found that his goal in life was simply to keep this power for himself.
One day, a heroic warrior named Carrion of Light rose up to challenge Setkun’s tyranny, and was successful in banishing both the mage and Loire, his dragon, to the realm of Althanas, taking the scarlet Quartz from the Dragonclaw staff and destroying it. With the quartz shattered into tiny pieces, the source of Setkun’s power was lost, and Relm slowly returned to peace.
Ten years later, Setkun’s power is slowly retuning to him, and his familiarity of Althanian lands growing by the day.
