Well, it may come as no surprise that I like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Hell, look at my avatar. Recently, rumors have been circulating around the web that there might be a new installment in the series. Some say it might be a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG, others say it might be a continued storyline. Either way, I want to know what fucking happens with Revan, the True Sith, and especially HK-47.

Thoughts, chats, talks about the series?

I've read quite a number of these rumors. Some say that there are sources from within the developer firm that it'd be a MMORPG (which would blow), but then other rumors say the opposite and that on the next E3, Bioware might reveal KotOR 3 as a single-player RPG. It's just what it is; rumors. I hope for the latter, though. KotOR was always all about the story. And lightsabers!

Speaking of Star Wars games, anybody took a gander at "Force Unleashed"?

Force Unleashed looks badass, although unless this is some sort of alternate-reality Star Wars, then we already know the ending.

I'm not big on the KOTOR series, but I highly doubt that it'll be a M(o)MORPG, seeing as SW Galaxies is out (is it still up and running?)... That'd be like Squeenix making another MMO FF, it just wouldn't make sense to me.

Yeah. But KotOR is a completely different animal from any other Star Wars game, especially when you consider the creative freedom having a game that takes place thousands of years before the movies brings.

Force Unleashed looks badass, although unless this is some sort of alternate-reality Star Wars, then we already know the ending. From what I could gather, Force Unleashed is focusing on a Darth Vader's secret apprentice that is not mentioned in the movies. So while the story would be related with the original trilogy (or the two of them), I figure the story would be steered away from the things we know and towards some aspects that we don't.

I read the feature article that Game Informer did on FU (huhuhuhuhuhuh :D) a while back, and if I'm not mistaken, it mentioned that the story itself takes place between the original trilogy and the craptastic one. The story revolves around The Apprentice learning the dark side and training to assassinate the Emperor. Although, I don't doubt that there will be more to it than that.

But, well, since Palpatine died when and how he did... Yeah.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still end up buying it and playing the shit out of it if it comes out on Wii... Force Push with the Wiimote FTW!

I know what happens to HK-47!

He dies in a meat grinding factory on some backwater planet! Thus become that which he always despised, a meat bag.

Keep in mind that BioWare did not make KotOR II; Obsidian did. BioWare was busy with Jade Empire at the time. And even though Obsidian has been announcing their interest in a KotOR III since 2004, LucasArts hasn't really made any indication that they'd been interested. Yet.

I'm hopeful, but given how quickly LA jumped on a sequel after the first's success, the amount of time between the second's release and now is troubling.

Not to mention that Bioware was recently almost completely focused on Mass Effect, an exclusive RPG for X360 that is following the basic principles of KotOR gameplay, only in a different setting. Maybe Bioware is trying to start and new franchise?

They really need to bring back Darth Nihilus.

He died too easily to be gone forever.

Has to be rpg, though now that it's mentioned i can imagine what a MMORGP would do with KOTOR

be a Jedi and follow Revan into the sith empire

or something like that ... though jedi are kinda dead in that period i think ...

oh god it's gonna be an MMORPG it is!

It can't be it was right there in my hand ... it can't die like that ... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

*Reads thread posts* .........WHAT!?

No, it won't be an MMORPG or so help me god. I don't think as an MMORPG the game would keep its....well, I don't havea word for it, KOTOR simply isn't KOTOR as an MMORPG. They might release both, who knows? But definently not an MMORPG on its own.

.....SINGLE PLAYER RPG FTW!

The only rumor I heard was that it was an MMORPG, and that's from a good source.

I just don't think it would be a good move to make it an MMORPG. A 360 game with online support, hell fucking yes... but not MMO.

KOTOR 1 was crazy - HK-47 was the man droid. KOTOR 2 was awesome, too. If this comes out like we all hope, it would be one more reason (alongside Halo 3 and Fable 2) for me to get a 360.

If Bioware makes KotOR III another exclusive for the fucking X360 (like Mass Effect) I'm going to book a flight to the US and suicide bomb the shit out of their headquarters. Goddamn sellouts to Microsoft.

Duro's just mad it would take over 300 virgins (Croatian Currency) to buy a 360.
