Reks Teneb
08-21-07, 07:39 PM
(( Here We go))
Name: Reks Teneb
Race: Human?
Age: 21
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair: Black w/ Silver Streaks
Eye Color: Red Swirls

Appearance: Reks stands at a slightly above average height of 6 feet and one inch. His hair is disheveled, but never drops below his neck keeping it short and rather tidy. Along with the black hair are streaks of silver as well as the odd red tip. This is natural hair color and Reks has done nothing to make it appear in this slightly different fashion. His face is for the most part cleanly shaven other then slight stubble which seems to appear during his long periods between towns. As for his everyday attire, Reks wears a plain black jacket that comes down to his waist with a white undershirt. His pants are black and made of a silk type material which allows him to move without generating as much sound as he would if he were wearing jeans. All in all he looks rather good looking and tries to keep himself in a good appearance to impress the ladies.

Personality: Personality is something which cannot be defined in a general sense. When it comes to Reks, the situation dictates how he responds to people and in what manor they may see him. If he’s in a bad mood he obviously does not have a very attractive personality. However if one were to generalize about his personality it is quite apparent that he takes any job and or important aspect in his life very serious. If something needs to be done then he will be sure to see it through. If someone is relying on him he will do everything in his power to come through for them as long as they are close to him. However, if he is simply relaxing in a pub or tavern or just having fun he becomes a playful youth which his age reflects.

Weapons:

Steel Dagger: Reks has an eight inch steel dagger which is his primary weapon of choice. As long as he can get in close he will use this over any other weapon. When he’s got the ability to use stealth no weapons seems to work better at making quick work of his enemies then this simple curved dagger. In the hilt are the letters BG which stands for the group from which Reks was raised from birth.

Iron Short Sword: This simple iron sword is meant for situation in which Reks in unable to use his dagger for fear of being killed by an enemy with a longer weapon or when face with an opponent who seems to be skilled and Reks would rather not get within range to use his dagger effectively. Once again the letters BG are engraved in the hilt.

Armor:
Nothing worth listing. His clothes don’t block anything other then the utter weakest of the weak attacks. Reks would rather not get hit then to wear armor and rely on it to save his life when he gets careless.

Skills:

Stealth: Reks has become quite skilled in the art of avoiding detection. Within shadows he can move rather flawlessly to avoid detection by the people around him. However, if someone were to be very aware and skilled at detecting people they would easily be able to locate and see Reks. Although to the untrained or unaware he might as well be a shadow against a wall.

Dagger Proficiency: Reks has an average ability with a dagger. He can use it with decent aim and knows where to strike to bring down his target. As long as he remains focused he can even successfully block other weapons and steer them away from doing him harm.

Spells:

Dissolve: This spell allows Reks to cause an object to vanish into thin air, leaving nothing behind in its wake. As of now he can only use this on small objects, such as his dagger, or random objects like a glass or rock. He tends to use this to impress ladies in the taverns or to win money off drunks; however it does have some use when trying to conceal something. Once dissolved, Reks can focus on the object and return it to the material plain in the same state. This spell can also be used as a storage method. However it cannot be used on other players belongings unless agreed to by the characters controller. Also this spell is only able to be used a maximum of three times per quest.

History:

“Hey Reks, hurry up your going to miss your initiation!” The female voice was yelling from outside the woods, towards the small outpost. Getting to his feet, Reks wiped off the dirt that was stuck to his pants and shirt. Sheathing his dagger, he looked down the dirt path. Taking a deep breath he prepared to become a member of a sacred brotherhood. This membership would steer him through life just as it had his father and grandfather. The only thing left to do before finally becoming a Black Gauntlet was to succeed in the initiation.

***

Looking around the circular chamber, Reks could see his mother and father off to the side looking on as their son was put before the council. His father Sinero looked on sternly, his eyes locked onto his son, hoping he had trained him well enough to finally become a true member; he had to succeed to carry on the family name. His mother Marissa on the other hand looked on full of worry and love. It would not be the first time that an initiate had died trying to pass the test to become a member; she had lost a brother herself to the trials.

The council looked down upon him, some with kind eyes, others held eyes as dark as night. The leader of the Black Gauntlet looked down at the initiate, of all the council his eyes were the most weathered and unyielding. “I assume you know why you have been brought before the council?” His voice was toneless and carried no emotion. It unnerved Reks even though he had grown up under the protection and guidance of this man.

Gathering as much nerve as he could muscle, Reks tried to reply with confidence. “Yes, I am here to perform the initiation test in order to be accepted into the ranks of the Black Gauntlet.” The elder smiled as he detected the fear in the young teen’s voice, and simply nodded in answer.

“The test in which we have created for you is to hunt and kill a man who seems to be snooping around our outpost. Despite our efforts of hiding it deep in the Concordian forest this man seems to have some sort of idea that we exist. Once killed, you must bring back proof of your hunt. Do you understand?”

The leader’s words stung Reks as he took in the information. He had never killed a man before, and now he was going to be forced to not only kill but bring back proof. This scared him as he thought about it, however on the same token what did he expect? This was a test and it would have to focus on every element of his training so far. He was 18 and would have to prove himself worthy before they would ever even think of letting him leave the outpost. “Yes I understand.”

***
These were the last words the Reks spoke before being ushered out of the chamber. He wasn’t permitted to say goodbye to his family. Escorted to the outpost gates, he was given a map of the area and a description of his mark then thrown out. Looking behind him he watched the gates close as fear struck deep into the pit of his stomach. It was time to grow up, time to become a man.

** Three Weeks Later**

Reks returned to the outpost gates, dragging the corpse of the man who he was sent to hunt. The guards immediately opened the gate and ushered him inside. Sending him straight to the council chamber, Reks was once again in the circular chamber being studied by the eyes of the twelve council members. The leader studied him for al long period of awkward silence before finally speaking. “We thought you were dead, we figure you had failed when we could find your body, however it seems we were wrong.” Another pause as the leader chose his words carefully. “The guards have identified the man as your mark, and therefore you have succeeded. From here on out you will be conducting similar missions for the Black Gauntlet and anyone who needs our services. I welcome you Reks Teneb to the Black Gauntlet, and grant you the right to be known as a Bounty Hunter of both men and beasts.”
