This is the thread for general OOC ramblings. Memory is hazy of actualy happenings.

I was a character registration guy, a judge, mod of alerar, and ooc forum mod at one point. I guess I was mod of Alerar at Redrick's request, since we were doing some stuff there, but I said it wasn't for me. I also stopped being a judge because some of the IC stuff was really boring to read and I didn't feel like I was doing it any justice with my lack of interest.

Finally, I stopped being an OOC forum mod because Santh was constantly getting complaints about me. I closed every spam, trolling, and drama thread as per my moderation and people really really liked their spam threads, and got offended when I closed their drama threads. I was pretty egotistical in that I wanted the OOC forum to stay relevant, but I should've realized it was pointless to tailor a forum to what my perception of a good forum was. Of course, when I was removed as OOC forum mod, I was removed as Character Registration mod as well, which probably made me angry. Angry enough to go to Cesirae with Dirks and Sorjax or something. Eventually, Dirks came back and so did I, with a few new characters to do stuff with.

My next problem was that nothing I wanted to do ever took off. I think Althanas crashed at some point and I lost my unfinished Miasma quest, and I just gave up on Kylin. I mean, it was impossible to have a character who didn't want to hurt people or see people get hurt in Althanas. He basically had to become a hardass to be involved in any quests/battles. Once I gave up on Kylin being True Good, I stopped caring in general. I did a quest or two but my participants vanished or dropped out, I wanted to do some huge Syndicate-based thing and everyone dropped out of that as well, and finally I had some vampire character make a battle and I thought it was the best damn battle I've ever done, ever, and it was only like 6 posts in, but he dropped out because, get this, he couldn't 'keep up with me'. This was basically telling me that because he couldn't win when judging came around, there was no point in trying. Well if I can't try to win without my opponents dropping out, why bother trying either? I was done at that point, nobody was willing to do anything that took planning. I made sure to not want to come back by severing contacts.

In my post-Kylin career, I tried making characters that would complement other characters so we would RP together a lot, but they all dropped out as well or went inactive for months, like Rayse Rafanas or that Robot guy. I thought they were cool concepts but I don't feel like playing by myself. I really disliked solo quests, because I wasn't doing anything with anyone. I tried really hard to just get involved and have conjoined stories that reference each other and work with each other, but it was never meant to be.

So I just wanted to come by and see what's up. It's pretty cool that I'm at least mentioned, even if by reference, in the official timeline and that so many old-timers have me in their histories. I just want to do stuff again and I'm a lot more patient than I used to be. I don't care if it takes weeks or months. It's also sweet that if my character was still around he's be getting two k-rad legendary items.

let's not forget who got the most fanart.

Hi, Kylin. It's been such a long time since the last time you were here, aye?

Either way, welcome back and welcome home. :)

Althanas now isn't as battle-oriented as it used to be. Battle-dominant, true, but we also are thinking up new ways to involve non-battle characters. We also have a lot of newcomers, so having you show them around as a returning veteran of this site would be great as well. :)

You need to stop Im'ing me at wierd random times when I'm not around. You've been frustrating me this last week to have a message from you when I get on but you're not around. You're still in New York right? Time zone shouldn't be an issue?

I always thought that the more people an event had, the better quality it was. Most people find it hard to write in different formats, so with more people, you'd get more and more perspectives on the same event. By event, I don't mean like a normal battle or quest, but a big storyline. The best histories were always the ones that actually happened as a result of actions by others, not a preplanned storyline that you had in mind at character creation. That's why solo quests seemed odd to me, it felt like playing D&D with yourself, and since you controlled all aspects of the story there's no way it could be more difficult than interacting with other people who had differing opinions on what is going on. I don't really care though, people can do whatever they want, but it used to bother me when people would plan out to do something together, but then think it's too much trouble to incorporate others and just do it themselves. I also didn't mind when solo quests would be used as a reference point for massive quests later on.

http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=7337 <--- go there if you old guys like namedrops.

I don't have any plans at all but if someone had any ideas that'd be coo.

I'm flinging back and forth on what to say. You were heinous when we stopped talking. But welcome back, in any case.

Anyhow, I have no idea what to do. If anyone such as Sighter or Thoracis has any ideas hit me up, I'm sure you guys got storylines going or something. I have a silly idea for bringing back my character but it would have no meaning if there's nothing to do with him.

Check out the two quests in my signature. They are the epoch of my new posting career. I figure I can use this thread for updates on what I'm up to. As you can see, I'm very active and open to ideas, but it seems very few people are pro-active enough to approach me.

Her Dreadful State of Affairs is my first attempt at characterization since coming back. It suffered a long pause due to a participant's absence (of course...) but now the original creator has determined to complete it, and it will not suffer from the former participant's inactivity. A somewhat comical tale of heroes, villains, and damsels in distress.

Rise of The Underground is my attempt at a crime-themed story taking place in the FQ. Despite just barely starting, I already think it will be something I can look back on as one of the best stories I was a part of.

I'm going to use this post to keep track of Homunculus and his abilities. There's a lot that are undocumented, and not to mention Homun's very appearance changes pretty often and I can't exactly make an update thread each time. It's gonna get annoying if this info isn't around SOMEWHERE.

Appearance Changes:

From last submitted update:
(1)Originally genderless, after his first victim he adopted the physical traits of that person. While not completely assimilating his male victim's attributes, he gained the male gender, some hair in the form of a colorless buzzcut, and a white iris in his eyes. As far as age is concerned, he looks like a man in his 20s. He has a slight build, but his body is very thin.
(2)After assimilating Demonica, his skin color darkened so as not to be considered pale, his facial features gained form, and all his teeth turned into sharp, carnivorous fangs. 1/2" Dark Brown spiky hair, Blueish-gray eyes.

New:
(3)After assimilating Luc Kraus, he gained 3" Dark Brown spiky hair, Grayish-Emerald eyes, and from slightly earlier he had a coat, pants, shirt, and boots.
(4)After assimilating Teric Bloodrose, he gained 4" Silver spiky hair, Blueish-Emerald eyes, and his clothes turned black except for his shirt which turned crimson.
(5)After assimilating Ifrit Obsidian, he didn't gain any outward features, but he gained The Virus. It later took over his body and created the current Homunculus.
(6)After assimilating Jacob Zachary Buhrkheardt, he gained his current appearance. His bone-based features are more or less normal like Jacob's but slightly less skinny (muscle mass, he still appears very skinny), but the rest of his appearance is so changed that the two don't resemble each other. It might go without saying, but he has Crimson eyes with rings of exhaustion around them, long blonde hair that is parted on the side so only one eye is visible, short but sharp nails, sharp carnivorous teeth, and his skin turned pale.
(?)After assimilating Toy Soldier's red wagon, he did not change in appearance but gained a new ability Detachable Limbs.

New abilities:

Detachable Limbs: Where breaking your arm just isn't enough to get out of that shackle. Homun can willfully detach any of his limbs at any time, and reattach them later if he wants. This also means he can stop blood flow seconds after a rupture. (unconfirmed)

Extra Blood: Homun has compressed blood, which expands to make up for blood lost. This also means he bleeds a lot more. He currently has 2 times the normal amount of blood for a human.

High Pain Tolerance: Homun can willfully ignore severe pain. He feels it early on, but as the battle goes on he almost stops noticing it.

Weapon Assimilation: Homun can 'insert' weapons into or along his skin and he can have it burst out at any time.

Armor Assimilation: Any piece of armor Homun wears sinks and integrates into his body, and that part of his body gains the same protection offered by the piece of armor worn on the outside. It's like the layer of skin right below his outside layer gains the qualities of the armor.

Shapeshifting: When assimilating, Homun can change his appearance to match that of the target assimilated if he wants. He tends to only have a partial shapeshift so he can be more comfortable using his enemy's abilities but not tip them off to the assimilation.

Stretch Armstrong: Homun's body parts can stretch like rubber at a slightly faster speed than his normal movement and up to 15 feet away. He can control these stretched limbs with precision, curve them, and have them wrap around his targets like a coiled snake.

Rapid Repair: In the first phase of assimilation, where Homun chooses his appearance change (none/half/full), his body regenerates are a much faster speed than normal for a few seconds up to half a minute. Things like broken bones, severed limbs, damaged or even destroyed organs return to a viable state. If there is a significant number of severe injuries, not all of them are healed all the way.

Assimilation Permanence: Which is to say, the permanent gain of abilities/memories/appearance/personality of the assimilated target. This process occurs in the second phase, in which Homun must satisfy two requirements: The original target of the assimilation must be considered equal to, stronger or otherwise more powerful than Homun. The other condition is that Homun must utilize the memories and/or abilities of the one he is assimilating in a meaningful way i.e. to kill someone. Only in the second phase is Homun even able to use abilities of other people, and whether or not he can recall any of their abilities after assimilation is yet to be discovered. Some evidence suggests he can use even high level abilities while he is unconscious.

Rapid De-Repair: In the third phase of assimilation, Homun's appearance returns to normal and any bodily stress or exertion he experienced during the assimilation is magnified several times. It's like getting the wind knocked out of him, and in some severe cases it can come close to forcing him unconscious, depending on how damaged he is and how much he exerted himself during the assimilation.

Assimilation Overload: In the first phase of assimilation, if Homun assimilated someone two or more levels above him, he has a chance of partially or completely losing his free will until the end of the assimilation.
