View Full Version : Weapons Only Citadel Battle

Well, I'm looking for someone (Or someones) to have a citadel battle with. It'd be an open thread, but I figured I'd put this up a day or so before I actually post to see if I'd have any immediate takers.
My character is decent with magic, but he's borderline horrible with melee weapons etc. So, the setting isn't entirely decided, but whatever I decide it to be (If you post here before I actually make it, I'll take suggestions) there'll be a sort of anti-magic shield. It would definitely restrict the use of magical spells (support or offense), however I'm still decided whether it'd restrict magical weapons and/or armor/trinkets/charms. Most likely magical weapons will be allowed, as long as it's the weapon itself, not your magic being channeled through it.
Also, unless your character is similar to mine, he/she would most likely beat my character into the ground, so while the role-playing quality will hopefully be similar, the actual fight will be a massacre. If you want to role-play an amazingly close battle, this probably isn't for you. >.<
Anyways, that was a long description for something really basic... A fight where you can only use weapons, no magic... So, any takers? I realize I probably won't get anyone before I post the thread (tommorow, or saturday at the latest), but whatever. :D

I'm a bit on the busy side with school and all, but if nobody answers your call, I'd be more than happy to submit to a little knife fight.

Why not, i haven't RPed in a long time and need to work the kinks out. I'll play this one out with you if you would like.

I'd be happy to do a weapons only citadel battle with you. The one magic skill I have is actually a weapon skill and not magic, though it uses magic.

Well, if it uses magic, then no. Unless it's an effect of the weapon (I.E. The weapon is lit by fire, due to some property of the blade or an enchantment made prior to the fight. You can't have the fire appear because you're channeling magic), than nope.
Wow, three people, wasn't expecting such a prompt response. Well, I gotta get to school, so I'll make the thread later tonight and post in here. Thanks for your offer Elijah, looks like there's some other takers too though. If you get some random urge to be in a knife fight though, it's always open.
Since I'm not making it quite yet, I'll still take any suggestions about the terrain etc. of the arena.

We could fight in the middle of a field, a massive crop of some kind.
Maybe we could fight atop a cliff, and if you happen to fall off the side, you lose, right after you go splat on the bottom.
Maybe we could fight in a giant darkened cavern.
If we all fight in the same time, it will be a large battle, and maybe a castle environment would be best.

Field battles always end up being redundent and lame, try to go for something that has alot of things to interact with, makes battles more interesting.

We could fight in the middle of a field, a massive crop of some kind.
While fields may be lame, fighting inside a huge crop has some interesting possibilites. This means seeds bigger than our heads, could make some nice projectiles if you're strong enough. Plus it's slippery (It's hollowed out obviously, but it'd still be fairly slimy and watery), and as we strike the sides of the crop, although it won't ever break, the vacuoles would no doubt let out a decent surge of water, as they'd be significantly bigger...
Although it might be a little too complicated. I like the castle idea too, although I don't know, a castle might be hard to work on. We'd sort of have to plan out the different corriders slightly, so that we'd know whether we're going to bump into each other... Though I guess you can just turn the corner and see someone. Perhaps it's in an old ruined/abandoned castle, and the environment is crumbling around us? We'd need to dodge falling blocks and stuff... And if you were feeling violent you could try to cut someone's head off by cutting the rope holding a portcullis up... o.o
Anyways, I'll make the thread in about half an hour, and edit this with the link and stuffs. And sorry I didn't mention this earlier, but I'm completely new to role-playing still, so I'll apologize now for any newb rping mistakes... >.>

What I meant to say when I said Lame is that only so many things can be done in a crop, if you take out the magic factor. Yes it is slippery and there are a few ground objects, but in a setting such as a castle, fort, tavern there are various random objects in each room/rooms, leaving more things for each player to use in his posts to his discression.
In truth almost all outside area Rping is held back in a way, which is why I keep most of my battles to an inside setting, espeically if in some way special abilites are being taken away. That way no sterotypical fighting comes into play.
Anyway I'm up for any setting, was just explaining what I meant.

Welcome to the labyrinth! (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?p=81461#post81461)
Sorry, I ended up taking an hour to write it. And it's not even good, it's just long as hell. The only important part is really the last 2-3 paragraphs, so just skip the first 6-7 if my boring newby rping bogs you down. o.o
So... I'll let you read my description in the thread to get an idea of the setting, but if you need some clarifications, just ask. Also, I think at this point I'mma close it to four people. Myself, Xilium, Rahegalhoff, and one other. It'll start out as just a 1vs1vs1 but if a fourth person joins and we're not far in, perhaps we can sort of turn it into a 1vs1 vs 1vs1, where 2 of the people get seperated by caving in walls, and the two victors of the 1vs1's meet up!
Also, I take it that in a fight with 3 or more people, if someone takes too many injuries (or dies) they simply make a leaving post, and the fight continues with the people left?
Have fun!
EDIT: Graphic Description has joined, so this thing is pretty much closed.

I'll join.

Well, since Graphic Description joined last night we have four, and I was planning on closing it... However, if we just don't all fight in the exact same corrider (It's a friggin labyrinth, it'd be fairly hard for everyone to end up in the same place >.>), I guess you can join. It's up to you, if you think you'll be fairly active and really want in then I'll let you in since it hasn't really started...
Also a clarification, wasn't too sure how well I described the light. It's just fairly dim, after you let your eyes get used to it you can see the walls etc., and could see the outline of someone attacking you. It's not pitch black, so you can see and be seen, so being sneaky/stealthy is encouraged. Although the sound echoes a lot, so unless you have a stealth skill you'd have to move somewhat slowly in order to not make a sound.

Sounds fun. I am extremely active on althanas these days. Most of my usernames were created out of boredom because my other threads were going nowhere, if that tells you anything. I will wait for the others to post first, though.

Alright sure, you can join. We can occasionally have the roof fall in in certain places causing people to get seperated and need to find a way back or find a new foe. I think the labyrinth idea will work fairly well, and I made sure to note there's a lot of pots/racks on the floor/walls etc., so there should we a fair amount of extra items to use in fighting etc.

Well, apparently Graphic and Edward either forgot about this battle, or just decided to exit... I'll post later today, and the two posters (Rahegal and Xilium) and myself will be the combatants. Graphic and Edward, if you are going to post THIS WEEKEND, then PM me within about 8 hours from now, and I'll delay posting until then. Once I post, this thing is closed to those who have already posted.

Hmm, this is going to be ridiculously hard to play out now. I'm going to have to wait for another graphic post before I can do anything, since I didn't expect he/she was coming in anymore. I'll post once i have something to run off of after that.....*Sigh*

Graphic you going to post any time soon? I realize you have writer's block, but as I've said before, we sorta want this thing to start rolling...
