Are we allowed to make our characters more powerful as we get more experience? Or do our characters have to stay the same?

Of course you can make your characters more powerful as you level up. That's the whole point of acquiring experience. It makes Althanas sort of a mix between an RPG game and a writing forum. Once you get enough experience for a new level (2000 for level 1, 5000 for level 2 and so on), make an updated character profile thread in the Character Updates subforum and a mod would review it just as he/she reviewed your initial profile.
