Well its been a while since I talked to you guys because I've been busy thinking about the future and stuff and made up my mind. It takes a lot of courage to muster up about what your going to do after high school, so many options. But I have finally set my path, I'm going to college on ROTC (Reserve officer training corps) if that wont work out OCS (Officer candidate school). What these classes mean is that going through 4 years on ROTC or 14 weeks in OCS is a military based class. When I Graduate I will be a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army joining the 82nd Airborne. I still have 2 years left of high school and this is what I have chosen to do, although the war maybe over in 3 years or not I wont make another choice. So your support and motivation is welcome, and any former army vets please give advice.

I support your commitment to your decision, but do not believe it is the right one. However, that is beyond my ability to change or influence, so I say go for it and try not to die.

lol its alright you wont have to worry, 2nd LT usually commands a platoon they still fight but mostly shout orders.

Good for you then. Keeping both your mind and body fit at the same time...

Ahh, so you'll be screamin' commands to your greens and send them off to the front lines?
Well, good luck and stick it to them, Bard. I'm sure you'll give it your all and become one of the best field commanders in the army. If not, well, you can always shout retreat orders when the time is right. :p
Also, do not underestimate the power of military might. If not this war, there's always the next. *grumblegrumble*

I, like all other dreary eyed souls who cannot sleep, personally hope for a world where war isn't necessary, but when you look back upon that you realize that then everyone would just atomic weapons and atomic apocalypse would be upon us.
Ugh.

haha you said it my man *Cheers*, not that I think war is a wonderful thing cause it surely isn't, but being involved in a big part of history is truly breath taking. Here is a nice little poem to explain

Loved the poem, Bard. I once read one like it. If only all those war protesters would read it too....
But...does this mean you are leaving us...or just an announcement kind of thing?

One wise man told me,
"War should be like this: Rather than sending innocent teens to fight for them, the leaders should just leap into a gladiator pit with sword and shield and fight to the death themselves while the world watches. Gladiator Time, President Obliges! Or as shortened, GTFO!"

Eh, I understand the basis of why the military has to be there, and though I myself am not in I respect your decision. I hope it works out for you, and be safe when you do get out there. Don't let anyone try to talk you out or tell you your wrong, you just made probably the first grownup decision of your life, and stick with it as long as you believe it's right.
Anyway, good luck with that.

But thanks for all the support and Xilium your very right about the last part you should get that turned into a quote. Also open to more questions if anyone has any and more advice is always welcome.
Don't let Blackwater outdo you, man. I know you can do better!

Dont' get married. The army ruined mine, and it's now over. Remember that a horse can't wear two saddles - so seriously, I have no problem with your decision (I have no right to) but don't try to have a relationship. That's straight from the mouth of a military wife (soon to be former).

Interesting poem. I prefer Wilfred Owen.
If only the protesters would read this poem, they'd all realize how wrong they are to be protesting a war they never wanted and never needed.
Damned protesters and their gripes and right to protest.
On the plus side, oil prices should be going down now, right?
