Saos
09-24-07, 10:55 AM
Name: Saos Siban
Age: Thirty
Primary class: Thief
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral
Appearance:
Saos Siban stands around six feet tall, and has a muscular, athletic frame. Due to the nature of his imprisonment and the reasons for his imprisonment, he is also extremely fit for a human male. His head is usually shaven to help his head cope with the humidity and heat of the Fallien underground prison.. As well as this, Saos’s eyes glow softly with a silvery, whitish-blue glow. Saos says this was a result of spending years imprisoned underground, away from the sunlight of Althanas, and as a result sees better in darkness than in light.
He usually wears a black shroud over his eyes during the day due to his sensitivity to light. His attire usually consists of a black muscle shirt, dark-colored cargo pants, a utility belt, and combat boots. He usually keeps grooming knives on his person, although his main weapons are hand sickles. Saos also has a deep baritone voice.
Weapon: Duel steel hand sickles, “Khopesh”
Each sickle consists of a curved blade with a short, one-hand handle attached. The inside of the curve is sharp, so that the user can swing the blade against the base of the target, catching it in the curve and slicing it at the same time. These examples have a single-handed grip followed by a blade about three grip-lengths. The blade is straight at the base, but the lower 3/4 curved into a broad-bladed shallow curve and unlike a traditional sickle, the weapons are edged on the outer side of the curve as well as the inside.
The Khopesh were initially used by Saos’s martial arts tutor, but as the murderer improved his close combat skills, he eventually killed his teacher and adopted the weapons for himself. Previously, Saos had used a serated longsword but he soon realised the potential for these more subtle and covert weapons as his killing sprees became less and less tracable, up to the date of his final imprisonment.
Armour: None
Item: Black Cape
According to the legend, the Black Cape has the power to shield the wearer from being seen by the Grim Reaper. It is a cloak that allows Saos to blend in with his surroundings, much like a chameleon, not in the sense of being able to completely shield the wearer from sight, but can instead be used to become more difficult to spot. This particular version owned by Saos can become opaque with age and is vulnerable to being penetrated by various spells.
Item: Grooming Shiv x 5
A simple curved and short six inch blade used to shave. Carries five on his person.
Personality:
Saos is cold and mean, and harbours a bad attitude as well as a twisted sense of justice. Even when faced with relentless pressure, this cold hearted murderer does not let anything get to him and keeps a cool head and a stomach of steel, everything you would expect from someone as prepared to take an innocent life as he is. He appreciates a somewhat clinical, if not realistic and perhaps even slightly tainted viewpoint on the human race, and life in general, and although he is mostly compared to an animal by his enemies, there is a deeper intellect hidden away beneath that thick skin that holds the key to many mysteries about his past and his real emotions.
Background:
Found in the desert with a snake coiled around his neck after birth, Saos Siban had a start in life that undoubtedly led a path to darkness. Growing up abandoned, with the knowledge that his natural parents had left him to die in the godforsaken plains of Fallien, Saos harboured a natural hatred of the philosophy of God and all ideas that He was merciful. His home was “his throne, wherever that may be”, a reference to anywhere he would travel as he mercilessly slaughtered unknown volumes of people in the darkness of night. He never killed for thrills, but instead to assure his freedom and assert a fear in the people that he felt had “failed society, and failed him”.
Over time he became an especially cunning and dangerous character, not to be underestimated. Eventually he was captured by a bounty hunter and imprisoned underground in a disused temple-cum-dungeon for over a decade before escaping at the age of thirty.
The first chapter of his tale begins upon escaping his underground prison in the harsh deserts of Fallien.
