View Full Version : "Just another fallen demon."

Alreven Laenisatar
09-27-07, 11:42 PM
Name: Alreven Laenisatar
Age: 243 (appears 27)
Sex: Male
Race: Incubus
Hair Color: Light blond
Eye Color: Hazel
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 163 lbs.
Occupation: Wanderer

Personality: Alreven is generally distant and aloof towards anyone he doesn't know, but is quite kind to those he holds near and dear. He has a strong sense of what's morally right and wrong, and will act accordingly in any given situation. Slightly more intelligent than his former cohorts in the underworld, Alreven has been known to quickly think through all of his possible moves, always making sure to plan ahead. He is slow to anger, but becomes extremely violent once pushed over the edge, showing the offender no mercy--this state of mind is the only time he will actually commit murder.

Appearance: A handsome man by any definition, Alreven has a refined look to him--tall, with a build that implies that he keeps himself in good shape. His face is well defined, usually sporting a kind (if not distant) smile. Usually, his blond hair is pulled back into a ponytail that reaches halfway down his back. In front of his hazel eyes sit a pair of glasses that don't appear to be anything out of the ordinary. Alreven can usually be seen walking the streets wearing a navy blue business suit with a black button down shirt underneath. Keeps his feet dry and safe with black leather shoes. His skin itself is slightly tan and lacking any sort of scars or blemishes. He appears human, until one notices his hands--his fingers are sharp and pointed like claws. Alreven wears black leather gloves to conceal them.

Skills:

Charm: Using the mental powers that were given to him by his parents, who were also demons, he is able to manipulate the emotions of others. However, the effect changes depending on the target's sex. For females, he can effectively stimulate desire and lust towards him. However, the effect on males is similar to being drunk: Their vision is rapidly blurred, their motions become uncoordinated, and noise is amplified. The duration of these effects usually last around twenty minutes (or four of the victim's IC posts), but generally depend on how strong the victim's mind is--as of right now, he is only able to fully charm those of a weaker mindset. The spell itself requires Alreven to maintain direct eye contact with the intended target for three full seconds before the effects take place.

Claws: Alreven's primarily trained in hand to hand, and has slightly above average ability in the art. His hands are actually sharp claws, the tips of which are as strong as steel are are capable of piercing and tearing through flesh and muscle as if it were paper.

Telekinetic wire: Underneath his left sleeve, a ten foot length of steel wire sits wrapped around his arm. Over the years, he learned the art to manipulate the wire's movement with his mind. Currently, he can move the wire within an eight foot radius from his hand at half of his physical speed. This requires a good deal of mental concentration, but not enough that he wont be aware of his surroundings. Restraining other player characters will of course be approved by them.

Energy sap: By slicing open the palm of his hand and touching the skin of anyone, Alreven can place a blood seal on their body--one that slowly drains the energy of the victim until they pass out. The process is rather slow at first, but quickens as their energy is drained and sent to Alreven. Those that are physically stronger than most can resist the drain, and as a result will only feel fatigued. The blood seal fades away when the victim falls unconscious. There are two ways to break the seal: Either the person knocks Alreven unconscious, therefore breaking the mental link required to drain energy, or if they pierce their own flesh where the seal sits--stab it, slice it, whatever.

Demon transformation: Alreven has been slowly hacking away at the seal that binds his full demonic powers. Around his neck is a glowing red amulet that can grant him a few of his powers--provided that he draws a small bit of his blood and soak the amulet with it. For a short while, he will become 1.5 times faster and stronger than the average human. The enchantment starts the IC post after he activates it, lasting for his next two IC posts. Meanwhile, his eyes will turn blood red and his canine teeth will sharpen into fangs.

Equipment: Ten feet of steel wire wrapped around his forearm, his amulet, and the spiffy clothes on his back.

NPC: Riala Laenisatar
Age: 15
Race: Nekomata
Hair Color: Light purple
Eye Color: Light purple
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 105 lbs.

Personality: Upbeat, playful, friendly, and cheerful, but tends to have a short attention span. Despite the fact that Alreven accidentally killed her mother when she was but a mere kitten, she holds the incubus in high regard as he raises her to repay for his crime; and will often do anything to defend him. Always enjoys it when anyone scratches the top of her head.

Appearance: Normally has some sort of stupid grin plastered on her face. She has a thin build and wears a dark sleeveless kimono top and a pair of blue jeans--"modified" so her light purple tail can stick out of the back and move freely. A pair of dark purple cat ears jut out of her head. Her hair flows straight down to her shoulders. Adai's complexion is fair, save for the dash of hardly-noticeable freckles that spot her nose.

Skills:

Hearing, speed, and eyesight: Slightly improved over those of normal humans.

Swordfighting: Alreven saw to it that Adai learned how to protect herself with the katana. While her offensive skills are a bit under par, she excels in defense: She is able to read an attack and parry it with relative ease.

Equipment: A teddy bear her mother gave her that was emptied and modified to make it a backpack of sorts. A 27" steel katana.

History:

"Tell me a story, Alreven." Riala was lying on the bed, her head propped up by her hands as she kicked her feet in the air playfully.

The incubus looked up from his book. "Another one?"

"Yeah. I wanna' hear the one about how you sacrificed your job to save me."

"Again?"

"Again." Riala's smile widened.

Alreven sighed. He hated telling this story, it reminded him of many things that he wish he could've forgotten ages ago. He folded the corner of the page he was on, setting the book on the nightstand before dimming the oil lamp so the inn room was barely illuminated.

He sat back in his chair, allowing his mind to wander and recollect the details of the story that the neko loved to hear so much. Why do you like to hear this tale so much? I killed your mother, an act that I don't deserve my own forgiveness for, let alone yours.

Alreven decided to count his blessings later. "Let's see... It all started when I was commissioned by my boss to take care of a certain woman; one that was causing quite a stir with my boss. I tracked the cat woman to a bar one night, where I started to talk to her. She had no idea who I was, or what I was planning to do to her.

"It took a few weeks for our friendship to solidify to the point that she began to trust me. We started to see each other more often, until the time came for me to complete my job. I asked her out on a date--it started off simply enough with a dinner and a walk underneath the stars, but it sort of... Well, how do you say... Escalated from there."

He quickly eyed the nekomata that was sprawled on her bed. She was listening as intently as ever, save for a finger that was distracted with the task of twirling her light purple bangs. Alreven closed his eyes and could see his story in his mind as he continued. "Passion is an amazing thing. I didn't even have to work my incubus magic on her--she expressed to me earlier during the date how desperately lonely she was. It was terribly easy to seduce her. Needless to say, I began feeling sorry for her and how much she needed a companion. But, I had a job to do.

"I began to mark her for death. But, your mother was a quick one--she knew what was going on before I did. She quickly jumped away, grabbing a dagger from inside her silk robes." The incubus stalled for a second, dreading this part of the story. The woman's lifeless visage still haunted him from time to time. "I had no choice but to defend myself as she leaped at me. Before she could slash my eyes out, I called upon my powers and forced my arm through her chest, cleaving her heart in two as blood began to pour out of the wounds.

"The look on your mom's face... I can't describe it. I had done more than break her body--I broke her heart as well. There was something in her eyes that hinted that she really did love me. Then I noticed you in the doorway, clutching that teddy bear of yours and innocently watching as I released your mother. You didn't run away, which intrigued me. Most everyone who witnesses their mother's death breaks down and runs away screaming.

"My first thought was to do away with you as well, but... Your mother was the first person I had actually killed, accident or otherwise. I decided to adopt you to sort of atone for that sin. But, eventually my superiors found out about you, and then they discovered that I had a tendency to fake the deaths of my other targets, and I was given the choice of either saving myself or saving you."

"And you chose me."

"Right, I chose to save you. I couldn't let your mom's death go to waste like that. It was five years ago next month that they sealed away my incubus powers and exiled me to the world above." Alreven reflected on how hard of a task it was to raise the neko girl and try and regain control over his abilities, which in itself was a very difficult and time consuming process. But, with time and patience, he would once again become the demon he used to be.

A silence filled the room. As Alreven reached for his book, Riala quietly spoke, her voice cracking. "Can you tell me about my mother? What was she like?"

The incubus warmly smiled. It was often that he forgot that Riala was only a kitten at the time, not remembering a darn thing about her. "Your mother... You have her beautiful eyes."

The new story continued on into the early hours of the morning.

I'm not comfortable with the fact that there is no way to negate Energy Sap. Given the right circumstances (and time, of course), Alreven can take down any character just by touching them. I would like you to make it so physically stronger people can outlast the effects of the Sap, so you can't sap all of their energy.

Also, don't overdo it with the Charm. Right now you should only be able to completely charm rather weak-minded people.
