I need some help. I need dark sinister scary music. You know the kind, that one certain song you can't listen to more than once a year because it gives you nightmares otherwise. That one haunting melody that gives you trouble sleeping at night because it makes you think certain things with ill intent are going to get you when you fall asleep. The kind of music demons would use as the Theme song for Hell.

I already have The Music of The Midnight Syndicate, but I need more.

Any suggustions/links to samples?

Don't got one. Nothing can scare me! Well, then again there's Murakama Asuka...

Besides, I like my music calm and soothing. Or melancholic. Nya.

The darkest cd I own is "Orchestra of Wolves" by Gallows, but that's more "GRAAAH ELIJAH SMASH!" music more than anything else.

Although, "The Last Astronaut" by Butthole Surfers has some synth lines that creep me out, and a plot that continues to give me strange dreams.

Asuka is snuggly and cuddly though!

I am curious though. I could giv eyou help, but what style of music are we talking. Are we talking scary like "seasons in the Sun" because it forces you to think of death, or more epic-ey style in the way of orcestra styled dark music?

I need it to inspire me for further actions from Destrudo, and, my evil NPCs, like The Vivaldi Sisters, that I haven't actually shown off yet because it isn't yet time to use them because Valanthe hasn't gone on a certain quest yet.

The Midnight Syndicate falls under Orchastrated Dark Music. Let me go search up a link from their website that demo's their music.

If you want pissed off kick a baby in the stomach rage music, go for some Cradle of Filth or anything like them.

My only suggestion is the music written for the game Silent Hill. Most of it's creepy dark atmospheric stuff, but you can definitely write to it. You could probably find it online somewhere.

The best I could do is get Amazon.com's music samples for The Midnight syndicate.

The Music the WWE has been using with The Undertaker's return lately has been awesome, if anyone knows more about that.

Alright. This may sound silly and stupid for dark music, but, if u listen to the lyrics and know what the song is about, you'll see why I consider it that...

Hotel California. By the Eagles.

8( I know I know. But thats the first thing that popped into my head.

Alright, stand back folks and let a pro handle this.

And seriously, who mentioned Cradle of Filth? If by nightmares you imagine the awful things Danny Filth's voice is doing to your eardrums, than perhaps. Otherwise, it's dark music for the tone deaf.

Lets start off with some well known.

"You and Me and the Devil Makes 3 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=sKmnLxC-wGo)" - It's off Marilyn Manson's new album, Eat Me, Drink Me. I'm not a fan of the album because of the disappointment to it when you compare it to some of his better work, but that song is pretty fucking dark.

"Tourniquet (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mbju-mMvkuQ)" - The Marilyn Manson version. You'll find it on his best of album, Lest we Forget. I love it. It's not the industrial (and glorious) stomp-fest The Beautiful People was, but it's a lot more inter-personal, "Woah that fuckah's crazy!"

Anything by the J-Rock band Blood (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Blood%20Jrock&search=Search) is pretty good.

Bela Lugosi's Dead - via Bauhaus is a classic. It's more melancholy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq2RXSboWMs) than heavy metal screamfest dark, but it sets a pretty creepy mood. Plus, Bela Lugosi's fucking awesome to begin with.

With the game, Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL90iPahGko), came a pretty good bonus CD. I popped it in, listened to a few of the songs. Obviously, they need to fit the gothic, dark motif. Game itself is a bitch at times.

Of course, we could go into soundtracks too. The soundtrack for that awful film, Queen (http://youtube.com/watch?v=0dz3XYiHcUY&mode=related&search=) of (http://youtube.com/watch?v=RP7gQxo500w)the (http://youtube.com/watch?v=uANutXSHlBM) Damned (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ow_UQz0y86Y), had a lot of great songs, making it the longest music video in history.

I especially recommend Tourniquet though.

A Perfect Circle - Rose (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDvAxV-W_b0). It used to creep me out, but now it's among my favorites.

The Sins of thy Beloved - Flame of Wrath (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOvJ9fq_FJM). Vocal abuse is all I need to say. Ignore the Saint Seiya video, the TSOTB Live Version only had part of the song, while this one had the whole 9:50.

Tool - Schism (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhjG47gtMCo), Faaip de Oiad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83R54yAB5Cw), Die Eier Von Satan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpePJ5MJrJ0). First is only slightly creepy if you watch the video, the other two are interesting in their crazy/zaniness.

Dimmu Borgir -Unorthodox Manifesto (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUktcNAi9Wc), Eradication Instincts Defined (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygPJ2TBPd6Y), Puritania (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9Xw21hnEgs). Black Metal by Misanthropes. These might fit you.

some of the music in Final Fantasy Seven Advent Children is quite dark and evil, including the song Black Water

Not uber scary, but definitely awe-inspiring: Night on Bald Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky. I probably spelled the name wrong, my Russian/Ukranian spelling is terrible.

I have that actually.

Another good one that is both depressing and dark is

Bright Eyes, I think by Simon and Garfunkel, but I could be wrong.

Hotel California doesn't run in the realm of what I consider dark, no.

That Bela's Dead song is pretty kicking.

I have another suggestion -- Apocalyptica. This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsYgcACfWTw) is pretty neat...not really 'scary', but dark enough and pretty awesome. They have a bunch of vids on YouTube of songs that may suit your needs, you should go check 'em out. :]

You hadn't heard Bela Lugosi's Dead before? That's...wow.
