View Full Version : Road Rules: Raiaera ((Modded FQ threads discussion))

Hey guys, anyone who is thinking in participating in the Raiaeran modded FQ threads should post your questions and comments here. It's going to be a lot of fun, a great storyline, and just all around awesomeness. I've been told not to name the thread "Xem'zund comes back and destroys Raiaera completely" by Sighter, so I won't. What I am allowed to do, as far as I know, is tell you guys the basic premise of the thread I'm modding, and see who all's interested.
The schools of magic in Istien find themselves in a spot of trouble and the best thing to do is get the young bardic students out of the way of what just might be a major smack-down. Skie and those who assist will be leading young students ((we could use student characters as well as defenders too!)) out of Eluriand and into a safe place. Well, as safe as this super-special-only-slightly-forbidden place can get! =D
I'd also like to note that any of you guys who want their characters to join the schools in the future sometime will find this thread exceptionally beneficial to your future careers. ^_~
Questions? Comments? Sexual favors? C'mon now, if you're all over this like a hooker on free condoms, make a little noise here.

I haven't entirely decided on whether or not Jada will be joining the schools at some point in the development of his story, but what I do know is that I plan on the majority of that story taking place in Raiaera.
That's reason enough alone to be interested in involving Jada in the main storyline of the region, and maybe get him involved in some history in the making.

This sounds like a sexy Modded Quest. Take me, Manda, take me and do what you will with me! <3
Apart from the slew of sexual favors I'll be asking of you later, I want to have Lillian enter this quest, as she's a fledgling student of the University.
My questions: I haven't completed the thread in which she studies at Istien, and considering Sighter's answer to using Liquid Time as a fast-forward button, I'm not sure how to proceed. I don't think I can have this happen before the quest where my character has entered the university, since I'm guessing Raiaera will be a smoking pile of undead cannon fodder after the events of the FQ, right? The reason I ask this is because if she's going to gain skills, or even just knowledge, from the University, can she use them in the Modded Quest? As in, if she learns to play the flute, or sing, I can use these for whatever odd reason I can think of during the FQ, just to show that she is in fact a student of Istien?
Also, I'm not asing for disclosure of twists or the conclusion, but the students won't just be running away, will they? They'll have as much weight in the story as, let's say, the people who are trying to attack Xem'zûnd himself?
Ooh! And... how can I help? ^^

My suggestion: start the quest "in medias res," that is to say in a time period shortly after she's entered Istien. Have her be in the process of learning a few important things as the thread begins and as you do it, then request what you learned at the conclusion of the thread.
And yes, what you do here will carry some weight. It might not have enormous repercussions in Chapter 1, but by Chapters 2 and 3 you'll be well on your way to leading what's left of the elven homeland.

I considered that, but I was going to request those skills at the end of the Istien quest itself, which ends about 2 weeks to a month after her admission. That said, I remember Letho telling me that using minor skills that don't really give your character a substantial advantage before they're approved is allowed. Though I guess I could use your new suggestion in the Liquid Time thread, and make references to how she learned the things she'll eventually do in this quest (if I'm selected, that is). Thanks a lot!
Also, since there are a lot of students in Istien, people not in this quest would still be free to do a similar free-form quest in which there's some sort of student exodus to safer lands?

Hey, I'm thinking jumping aboard this one might be awesome. Jake wouldn't be student at the University, but he could certainly be a great help when it comes to evacuating people. He's just the kind of guy who likes to help random strangers get home safe, after all.

Oh gawds, I'm almost (almost) jealous of this, simply because I want my alt to be in the Istien University. Ah well, I get a different mission. ^_^
Anyways, because the nation of Raiaera is doing more then simply sitting back and whatnot, there is an additional mission that'll be going on. Of course, this one also is not nearly as nice sounding as the "save the little yunglings before Darth Vader *scratches out* Xem'zûnd comes and kills them with the 501st legion, *more scratchings* I mean undead elite troops."
People who follow the nekomata into battle are going straight to the heart of the who problem, and we're gonna be the ones who stops most of it from happening entirely. I'm sure that Findelfin might have hinted at some other stuff, but we can always prove him wrong. After all, who needs one more major villain in a FQ when you have so many.
Short spot. We're gonna go kill Xem'zûnd! YAY!!!!
Course killing him might not stop the OMFGWTFGTFO army he has, but it'll be a serious hurt to it.
Anyways, make some more noise, or squeak, or angrily growl and use words like "throbbing" if you also interested in that. I'll probably make a separate thread soon, but this in itself should be good for now. Hey, we already have half the team of "Wicked Things" to protect Raiaera from the cold, rotting fist of Xem'zûnd.
Join Wicked Things! You know you want to be a hero and defend the Elven Lands!*
*=Warning, Wicked Things is an old joke thingy I'll explain if needed. Please don't hurt me. Meep.

Now that I've been lurking in the background long enough to watch and get a idea of what's going on I think I'll toss Elena and Kahlina in to the mix. I want to use them in vastly different ways. So Artifex I'll follow you into hell if that is what it takes to have some fun. Oh and save lives, of course.
As for Kahlina, I've been planning on her entering the Istien University for a while. (I have about half of a thread written out on paper so far. ^_^) I guess I should toss up the thread so she's in place when all hell breaks loose.

I'd like to put Farsight in this one, since he's learning to be a bladesinger, as well as starting learning a bit in the school itself.

I would join this one, but it seems that there is already a guardian in place and Ifrit wouldn't be much of a student, i'm afraid. He would be too busy swinging his blades and and arguing with the teacher to learn any magic of any kind.
I'll see what else I can join, as I am the current uber-poster of Althanas. ;)

This thing gets up and started tomorrow. Sorry Jake, but before this thread was even made, I'd been in AIM talks with a defender, who technically had the spot grabbed right from the start but is a retard who didn't post so in here, DAN. Well, thinking about it. This is a FQ. I don't see the harm in having two defenders, but I'm afraid I won't be taking any more.
The roll out for this will be
Students
Ataraxis
Rumplegrumblepuss
Farsight
Defenders
Slayer of the Rot

Our Raiaera Modded quest intro is up! You will find it Here (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?p=87404#post87404), though I believe the plan for the moment is to let moderators post first and then the players, so everyone should ((I think. I hope.)) wait for Colin and Madison's posts first. I think. Uh. If I'm wrong, I'm sure Madison will spank me and send me to bed without dinner.

I'm still sketchy for internet connection, but can connect at least once a day... and I'll make sure to post for this.

Got exams and projects coming up, but that just means I'll have to work on posts during classes. It'll probably be more productive than doodling, too!

Good! Because I'll disown you if you don't!

When's it our turn to post? Now?
Skie and Avery

Ah, sorry. Yes. Now you guys can post your intros. If you want, feel free to bunny Skie touching your shoulder, asking you to come with her. If you want to bring along some NPC students, that's gravy too.

If I want to bring something of a reluctant tutor along for the ride, would it be okay? Would I need to make an NPC profile for him? I'm not even sure how we're supposed to use those in this story, either.
In any case, posted!
Skie and Avery

That'd be fine, no profile needed as long as he's not like the fallen god of JC posts. Then I want the profile so I can share the love. XD

NPCs only need their profiles posted if you want to as a reference for the rest of us. If an NPC conflict comes up where someone feels another person is using an NPC unfairly without a profile, we will ask that the profile be posted. Fair enough?
Ataraxis

No fallen god, so you don't have to worry about that. Though I'm not sure what you mean by one of JC posts. Has that already happened in one of them? Did it involve interplanar intercourse?
That answered all of my questions about NPCs, so yeah, thanks!
