Lisean
05-01-06, 11:43 AM
Name: Lisean Lemot
Age: 20
Race: Human
Hair Color: Purple
Eye Color: Pink
Height: 5’10’’
Weight: 139 lbs
Occupation: Necromancer

Personality: If anybody were to give one word so as to describe Lisean, just under half of them would portray him as independent. He is a solitary man, who possesses little or no knowledge with co-operating as a team alongside others. Others could say he gives off the impression that he does not take a liking to whomever he’s around. As much as this is not true, the necromancer cannot change the way he was created. It’s just the straight face he wears that gives off a sense of disposition. Deep down, if one could actually manage to read him that far, they’d find a man striving for the exact opposite of the impression he is giving off. He enjoys the opportunity to experience new things, and to him, friendship is relatively fresh. He can be a little doubtful at times, especially upon himself. His is fluently putting himself down by believing he is not worthy of another’s trust, let alone company.

Appearance: Lisean is a rather short individual for a male, and more-so slender than average. His body is not all comprised of muscle, but one can assume by looking at him that his build is most beneficial for dodging blows, rather than dealing them. Long dark violet hair flows like a river down his back to just past his waistline, whilst his bangs are cut to just skim down his neckline. Behind those bangs, lay eyes that naturally give off the sense of suspicion. Peach, somewhat pale skin defines each and every little detail on the shape of his face. One could easily confuse Lisean for a much, much younger individual. Fitted tightly around his chest and arms is a thin black robe, draping down past his hips. The only things that keep the garb worn tight are the belts laced into the fabric, buckles fastened around not only the abdomen, but also his left thigh. Somewhat loose, comfortable black pants cover up his legs, enough around his ankles to just show the tip of heavy black leather boots.

History:

Many ages ago, in the time after Faust, the first necromancer’s death, many of those who idolized him became successful in the ways of harnessing the powers of death magic. Some were satisfied with their knowledge, and used it for the greater good as a way of preventing attacks on opposing kingdoms, without having to sacrifice the population of mankind. Others, whom were overconfident and succumbed to the fortune of carrying their gifts, intended on showing their enemies exactly what it meant to have control, and use them to their advantage. Innocents fell to the necromancers in the process, but their outlook on life denied any resentment or grief for their actions. At the time, many were enrolled into magic schools of teaching, and over a third of them were drawn to the fascination of the undead, fallen like many others into the path of power. Numbers were gaining, and the overflowing of dark mages quickly took its toll, when small groups rebelled against the teachings of other schooled students. These groups in turn devised sacred cults, where their beliefs were placed above anything else. The one thing that all necromancers shared was the belief that in the long run, death reigned supreme. One of these cults had a plot. One to not only conquer, but also captivate those who did not believe. The power of summoning and harnessing the deceased was not enough. They wanted the power to do what Faust did to them. The members of this cult sought the power to move the world.

The cult was named The Lemot Family, after the found of the sacred order, Archaeus Lemot.

After all the many years of struggle between good and evil, clans all over were slowly overcome, either by the Royal Guard, or by a more powerful cult. The number of spellcasters had decreased sufficiently, and only a few clans were left standing. Luckily, The Lemot Family was one of them, at the time of Lisean’s birth. The father of the newborn child, Sedrian, was the current leader of The Lemot Family. He kept his secret not only from his children, but also his wife, and the mother of Lisean, Caroline. While most of the mother’s days were spent taking good care of the newborn and his two older sisters, the father was out and about trying to make a living by running off and getting all he desired through the cult. He told his wife that he had a night-job as an alchemist, but in truth he was going to meetings with his other family, worshipping and adhering sacrifices on a monthly basis.

One day, whilst sorting through his studies, Sedrian discovered the book he did not remembering having in the past. Opening it, he discovered the truth about his heritage. At first, he thought the name Lemot was given to him under sheer coincidence, but now he knew the truth. With the fame of him being a part of the Lemot bloodline, he assumed that the gift Archaeus once had passed onto him. With such power, he could be able to do anything, and perform any spell he wished with the right components and sacrifices made. Near the end of the book, he also found a spell he instantly became interested in. One that could grant him eternal life in the way of becoming a creature of the night without having being bitten. The legend of the vampire to the day ran solid throughout down, acting as a scary night-time story for the kids. Now, he realized he could eternal life, and unparalleled agility, strength, and willpower to overcome any who stood in the clan’s way. Not only that, but the spell also enabled the one to become so powerful to not be affected by sunlight, or even have the need to feed on human flesh, like the stories told of the creature’s kind. The sacrifice at first left Sedrian to think about this choice thoroughly before taking action: the death of the first born son of he whom wished to be immortal. Lisean.

Years passed, in which Sedrian thought about the one choice that could change his life forever. During those years, Lisean learned to grow up without having a father there for him. Every night, whilst Sedrian was out with the clan, he was willingly helping his mother and sisters take care of the house, all the while working on his school stuff. Being enrolled into a magic school at the age of 12 gave Sedrian one ounce of hope for his son. One day he could become just as successful as him. Maybe even follow the bloodline and realize his destiny to govern The Lemot Family. However, Sedrian had other plans in mind. He wanted to remain the leader, so no matter what Lisean did, his father was not all too fond of, especially if he knew one day he’d die anyway, much sooner than anyone would expect. One day while cleaning up his father’s study, Lisean found a few books that revolved around magic that he thought could prove beneficial to his education, so he took a small number of them, and immediately became hooked to the art of necromancy. His young mind that was once being taught at school of reading palms, was now corrupted and delving deep into what he considered more interesting magic.

Lisean was 14 when his father had finally gathered the spell components needed, and had the ceremony recited and memorized with his fellow members. Sedrian told Caroline that he was taking Lisean to work to show him what he did, so as to help educate him. She was more than delighted to finally have hope of discovering the father Lisean deserved to have. One that’d teach him the ways of life, and show him what it took to survive. Deceived and easily overpowered by his father, Lisean was kidnapped and brought to the headquarters of The Lemot Family. There, he was bound to an altar, while Sedrian and his clan began to unravel the true power of the Lemot name. Outraged at the fact that his own father would play such a trick on him, Lisean finally broke free in the middle of the incantation, whilst his father was in a trance and reciting the verses from the books. Lisean cast the only spell he knew off by heart, Disruption, and to his astonishment, he finally managed to conjure it. He shot the ball at his father, breaking the spell and forcing the errors of reciting the verses unto him. One knew the risks of delving into magic, and that saying one word wrong or having one thing go wrong could add up to the grave consequence. Such a powerful spell to attempt obliterated Sedrian, turning him into nothing but a mere pile of ash. Cultists assumed that the boy had been gifted, and was out to get them next now that their leader was gone. They ran, while Lisean mourned the fact that without his interruption, his father could have lived. Looking into the book of Lemot, Lisean quickly learned of what Sedrian was trying to do, and some of his sorrow vanished after realizing that the situation he was in led eventually to his death, if he had not intervened.

Fear of word spreading of his father’s death rendering him a suspect led Lisean to flee from town to the next one over, where he could hopefully go on and forget about what he had done. However, like the greed that swallowed many in its path, Lisean was still devoted to his magic. He sold all of the books he carried but the one bound to his family for as much gold as possible, but that only bought him the clothes on his back. For six years he worked himself up in the slave business, cleaning up for others as a day time job, while in his spare time he continued his studies with dark magic. Like many, he kept his secret under the covers, hoping not to get taken in by authorities. When he had earned enough gold to make himself a living, he packed up what little he could carry, and set out of town, hopefully long forgotten by his family. Sometimes, he did wish they’d stop to remember him, but perhaps it was just for the best.

Skills: Lisean obtains few actual skills as he progresses, most involve simply inheriting proficiencies with weapons, and eventually the abilities that will allow him to wear heavier sorts of armor.

Staffplay - Allows Lisean to wield two-handed staves with average skill. This passive ability also enables Lisean to cast in melee combat, but ONLY if he is holding the staff in one hand, leaving one hand free to actually cast the spell he chooses.

Spells: Lisean's spells greatly increase as he progresses. Since he is a necromancer, most of his spells will be related to summoning and dominating the undead.

Disruption – This basic spell can be easily conjured by Lisean, and can be summed up as his basic offensive spell. The attack allows Lisean to aim and fire a projectile ball of black fog-like matter at his enemies. Rumor has it that this spell does somewhat more damage to the undead, and acts as a way of putting them in their place. Necromancers of old used this spell to discipline their minions, and attack their foes. Since this spell is etched into Lisean's memory and he has practiced it for years, the loss of his willpower is low. If caught into a single fight, he may be able to cast this spell alone up to three times before having to wait for his willpower to recooperate. The mind can only withstand so much.

Lesser Aura – A basic, rudimentary incantation that conjures a thin eerie glow of violet light around the specified target. Most of the time, Lisean only uses this on himself. The aura prevents a small amount of damage. The most it could ever negate is three quarters of all damage taken in a single blow, but that is if the spell has taken a critical effect. The usual amount of damage absorbed by the aura would be approximately one third of the total damage taken from a single strike. This spell MUST be cast at least one turn beforehand, but the user of the spell is able to decide exactly which blow he’d like to negate a small amount of damage from. The amount of willpower drained from use of this spell is sufficient enough for Lisean to still be able to cast another spell. Since preparation is required before casting however, it does take more than his other spells. If he were only to cast this spell alone, he'd be able to use Lesser Aura twice a day.

Equipment: Lisean’s primary weapon, a simple wooden staff, he always carries in one hand. When fighting, he does have the proficiency to use it two-handed with excessive skills based on defense and evasive maneuvers. He can take down an opponent in melee combatant, but because of his low physical strength, he would take a little longer compared to the rate of your average fighter. The secondary weapon he carries on his left thigh, underneath his garb and tucked into the belts on his leg, is his sacrificial iron dagger. He only uses this weapon as a last resort in melee combat (For example, if he were disarmed, and cornered and/or prone), but he can be spotted with this weapon out when he is practicing his evening rituals or preparing his spells. In his sack, which he wears over his shoulder, is his personalized spellbook, riddled with many incantations he discovers on his journeys, and writes down for further investigation in the future, when he considers himself powerful enough to delve into such magic. On top of those listed above, Lisean also carries some of a bare neccessities, such as:

- waterskin
- 3 loaves of bread
- 2 pieces of meat
- 3 vials of ink
- inkpen

Familiars: As of the moment, Lisean has no familiar. Right now, he is more focused on improving his basic melee skills, and his array of spells. ((It may be possible for him to obtain a familiar during a quest. Perhaps as a reward.))

Makes me want to make a Necro in Guild Wars... Merp.

Both your spells need a limitation on how many times they can be cast in a battle.

I'd like his skill with the staff to be described in a single word, or possibly two. It's a simple way to measure a character's skill. At level 0 he can be slightly below average, since he has two spells. Just put "Staffplay" under his skills or whatever, wherever it fits.
