Name: Dusk/Damien Meson Phalon Daigor “Townstopper” VII
Age: 21
Race: Human
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Grey
Height: 5’7’’
Weight: 135 lbs.
Occupation: Darkmage

Personality: He considers himself an artist, exploring the best and worst aspects of human nature through his craft. He is not a necromancer, who is interested in death only for the power it will them, and who is only subtle when they are too weak to make a bold, strong move. No, he is interested in the beauty and knowledge he will gain, disdaining combat as an end unto itself, seeing it only as a learning experience or a beautiful test of human nature, or even simply a mistake, depending on the circumstances. His true goal in life is to simply observe the world, pushing it a little bit this way and a little bit that way just to make things more interesting and to learn from them, but that does not make him a harmless watcher.

Appearance: Usually wearing grey or black loose-fitting clothes (though he has been known to wear white occasionally) his not-impressive figure is mostly well hidden. His grey eyes can be striking when he channels intense emotion, but mostly they are unremarkable and beneath notice. His long black hair is usually tied back in a ponytail, though he occasionally allows it to fall forward and cover his face. He is physically unremarkable and takes a twisted pleasure at being able to blend right into any crowd.

History: Born Damien Meson Phalon Daigor “Townstopper” VII, he was the son of a minor noble who claimed ancestry from a hero of old, hence Townstopper. The only son in a family with seven children, he has three older sisters and three younger sisters. Positioned to inherit the title, lands, and wealth of his father, his schooling was a very formal affair. But at age seven, disaster struck.

A visitor to the Daigor manor, an old wizard known only as The Circle, piqued young Damien’s interest in magic. But while the old man was using his energy to teach the little boy small tricks, an old enemy of The Circle made his move, attempting a secretive assassination but failing, unwilling to kill little Damien and his youngest sister. The family was soon forced to flee the mansion as The Circle and his old, unnamed nemesis dueled one of the fiercest battles fought in recent memory. With his insatiable curiosity so dominant even at that young age, Damien and his sister Diamond crept back to the manor to witness the magical battle. The house and many of the servants were destroyed utterly. Damien was able to rescue a kitten from the ruins, and the family’s favorite jester found the children and rushed them away to safety as The Circle unleashed one of his most terrifying spells to end the battle, obliterating even the remains of his old enemy.

Deeply regretting the chaos he had inadvertently caused, the repentant old wizard took Damien and Diamond, along with the kitten and the jester, and brought them to his own stronghold. The family assumed the children were killed and took shelter at the king’s court until they could have the manor rebuilt. Damien and Diamond began training as apprentices to The Circle, and both showed a great affinity for the art. Diamond became quite accomplished in elemental magic, and Damien soon showed an affinity for divination and the darker aspects of magic. The Circle was completely impartial and uncaring as to what parts of the craft they learned, as long as they learned it well, and so he taught much of the dark magic and theory to Damien without reservation.

But then again, seven years later, at age fourteen, the student of the first assassin infiltrated the hideout and succeeded where his master failed, destroying The Circle and the apprentice Diamond in a huge battle. Damien kills the wizard using simple spells and tricks, preying upon his human nature. After the battle, consumed by sadness, he gives himself over to his true calling, observing human nature. Why did he feel sad? What part do emotions play? How do people react to darkness? Human nature, he soon discovers by looking at himself, is intrinsically dark and evil.

Taking a dark name to reflect his dark purpose, he left with the jester, now called simply Jester, to learn the ways of the world and the part he might have to play in it.

But then again, seven years later, at age twenty-one…[the story begins, Althanas role playing begins at this point, his profile reflects this age]

Skills:
-Combat: Dusk has no combat ability whatsoever. He is weaker than the average human and has no experience or training in fist-fights, much less with any sort of weapon.
-Other skills: aside from his magic, Dusk has no skills.

Spells:
Smoke Shape: This spell allows Dusk to control (though not create) smoke. He can manipulate it to change color (natural colors only...white, greys, and black of various shades), thicken, dissipate, and move in a certain direction. The smoke must be created by a fire or smoke grenade-like object, or otherwise already be in existence in order for Dusk to use this power, since it does not allow him to create smoke. Once the smoke is created, however, he can continue thickening it even when it would normally dissipate, and continue manipulation after the source of the smoke is gone. The smoke deals no physically damage to creatures caught within it, although it is a little warm and slightly unpleasant. It can obscure vision, and if the smoke is thick enough and the creature breathes it in too deeply for too long, it can begin to choke them, but it cannot directly harm anyone. Dusk has no limit to how many times he can use this spell or how long it lasts, provided there is indeed smoke for him to shape.

Shadow Shape: Dusk can use this spell to manipulate shadows. As with Smoke Shape, he cannot use it to create shadows, but where shadows do exist, he can make them move to places where the shadow normally wouldn't be, darken the shadow up to complete and utter blackness, or dispel the shadow entirely, bringing light where none should be. He can use this spell three times a day, and it lasts for up to an hour with each use, though he can voluntary end the spell sooner.

Silence: Dusk can, twice a day, suppress all sound within a 15-foot radius of the target spot. If he is the target of his spell, he can move and the bubble of silence will travel along with him. No sound exists within this bubble of silence, and if someone were to shout within it, even they would not be able to hear themselves. This spell lasts for up to ten minutes, though he can dispel it before hand at will.

Aspect:
The other part of Dusk's magical power stems from his Aspects. These are 7 of the darkest animals in existence, and he can use their abilities and take their shape, once he finds that aspect within himself. The Aspects can be quite powerful, but he cannot use them too much or he will lose control to that Aspect, losing his mind and becoming that animal for an extended time until he can wrest control away again.

Cat: The only aspect he has unlocked so far, he can call upon this Aspect twice a day for up to ten minutes. It allows him to move with much more grace and speed, keep his balance effortlessly, and walk or even run with very little noise. During the time the Aspect is active, he can sprout three retractable claws from each hand which can serve as short but effective weapons or to climb trees and such. He can also take a full cat form, becoming an average housecat of a mottled grey color. While in cat form, he can still talk normally, and other cats recognize he is indeed a cat. He reverts automatically to his own form when the Aspect is dismissed, though he can change back to a human while the Aspect is still active if he so chooses.

Equipment: Dusk carries no weapons, and other than his clothes, has no equipment worth mentioning. The one thing he does carry is a small amount of flint and a tiny lump of steel, as well as a bit of tinder, to start fires.

Familiars:
Still: A small albino housecat. Still has these skills:
Communication: When Still purrs, Dusk (and only Dusk, or anyone who has magical abilities that would normally allow them to communicate with animals) can understand what she’s saying.
Cat Skills: Still can see very well even in the dark, makes virtually no noise when she walks, can balance even on thin walkways, and always lands on all fours.
Magic: Still can only cast a single spell, a minor trick that obscures her completely white form in dark shadow, allowing her to hide effectively when she wishes, assuming the surroundings are dark enough for her to blend in. However, she cannot hide her red eyes. She can use this ability at will for as long as she wishes
