Saxon

I've decided to post this early to give people an alternate option while they're still choosing their quests for the FQ, and I'm opting for the freestyle option. I'm still a bit foggy on how it works, but as I understand it, these quests can take part in the featured quest and will in some way tie in with it. This is the first part in a two part quest.
Heres the scoop:
With the war between the States and the Church being waged in the barren tundra of Salvar, many villages and city-states are caught in a stranglehold as they're slowly starved by the attrition. Taking it upon themselves, several wealthy merchants from various companies have established supply lines across the wastes to feed the weak and supply the States with the hope that they'd survive in better shape than the Church after the war. And surprisingly, things were starting to look up until something terrible happened that threw those plans into the winds of change as a city was wiped off the face of Althanas.
Every year upon the stroke of midnight on October 31st, Saxon must complete a ritual that seals the last remaining door of Tsep away from the rest of the world for another year. A week before hand, an expedition of explorers attempting to search for a weapon to end the war, descended into its frigid wastes to discover the ancient city of gold known as El Camor and mistakenly freed an unspeakable evil from it's tomb. Hell bent on settling a score as old as time itself, this creature sandbags Saxon and steals his power to control the darkness, snatches the key to Tsep away, and restores the cursed Syvriak back to his ancient sinister form.
Unable to stanch the loss of power, Saxon spends his last remaining ounce of it and sacrifices his life to level the city Fathulsaar in Salvar in order to prevent Tsep from breaking free from it's prison and casting Salvar and eventually the entire world in permanent stasis. With the eldritch missing, an old evil freed and scouring the wastes of Salvar, and Tsep threatening to unleash itself upon the world there only seems to be time chipping away as All Hallow's Eve draws near.
Holding out hope, however, a mysterious merchant known simply as Paulus and his band of mercenaries have taken it upon themselves to find whatever it is that has decided to plague the states under his care and will race through time itself to find Saxon and save him and themselves from a grisly fate.

Exciting huh? This quest is a bit taxing, and it'll require a joint effort of some others and myself to get it done in time before the chapter is over. I'd like to also mention that should this be completed, the coffers of El Camor will be opened and you will be able to choose from a wide array of ancient artifacts.
This quest requires an unbelievable amount of dedication and patience. I'm choosing to run a tight ship here, so if your interested in doing this, I highly recommend you figure out whether or not you can stick it out before joining or things will pan out very badly for your character. The amount of people for this quest is still undecided but there are numerous roles to play. We need the following:
- A survivor from the band of explorers (1). Your role requires you to deliver a message to Paulus and the rest of his band of what has transpired in El Camor, and whether or not you join the party after you've fulfilled this role is completely up to you. Need a strong character who has no problem with filling the role of someone who has just gotten his or her ass kicked. Candid and clever are a plus.
-
- A band of mercenaries (3). Descending upon Salvar, Paulus has hired a band of mercenaries and warriors to help guide him and his convoy along his trade route and deliver goods to the refugees before they perish from the wastes. Must be willing to use new technology (Guns, hummers, etc) to keep the convoy on track and get to the crushed village in time. The type of characters should be able to fire weapons, have a high threshold for harsh climates, and have an alignment of at least neutral in order for Paulus to take you on.
- Osato
- Camella
-
Convoy Engineer (1). Being in the wastes, Paulus' convoy is in dire need of a mechanic to help keep the machinery intact. With this role, the engineer will also be required to find out what it is exactly the explorers were looking for and how they found El Camor in the first place. Whoever takes this role will need to be able to use weapons, and be willing to use technology they aren't exactly used to using. Intelligent and witty are a plus.
- Norman Gates (NPC)
Leader of the Militia of Fathulsaar (1). Having been on the outskirts before the city was leveled, you've witnessed the fall of Saxon and are bent on retaking the remains of the city from the mindless dead that have risen from the ruins. The eastern part of town is partially intact, and you'll start by finding yourself holed up in the remaining tavern Last Leg. Must have a character that can survive in the wastes and knowledge of the wilderness and salvic lore. Survivor's guilt is a plus.
-
The Watchman (1). After the blast, Saxon's watch has appeared in the center of the city at town hall and seems to be what is causing the dead to rise again. Having been designed unwittingly for Saxon's use, the weird is the only one who can control or resist Bhakthaal's corruption. Whoever takes this watch will become his servant and be playing mind games with Paulus' party until Saxon is brought back. This watch is the key to bringing the eldritch back and it is up to the bearer to make sure that doesn't happen. Any alignment is acceptable. I require that whoever takes this role is trustworthy, I'm placing the life of my character in your hands, and I need to be able to trust that you'll follow through with it. Clever and creative are a plus.
-
Eyes and Ears (3). The evil that has been freed from El Camor has endowed the first three to cross his path with gifts of the eldritch and has swayed them to be his spies and wreak havoc across Salvar. These people will know the creature's true name and are bent on keeping it that way. People entrusted with this role must be willing to accept character tampering. Most of it will be temporary, the rest I will discuss with you personally and we'll hammer out what you'd like to take from this quest. Any alignment is accepted. Characters must be willing to betray one another at the drop of a hat.

The Avatar (1). Everyone will soon find out that Saxon is unwilling to bring himself back without setting things right in the present. Unable to convince him otherwise, a character will temporarily lend their body to a part of Saxon's essence in order to correct the present. This is a two-part quest, so the person who fulfills this role will be encouraged to participate in the second half for Saxon's ressurection. You must be willing to give up control of your character for a couple of key scenes and be comfortable with bunnying. The Avatar is basically Saxon's link to the present and that should be immediately understood. Forthgoing and selfless are a plus.
-
The Clergy (?). Raised from the dead by the Watchman, a group of intelligent dead have formed a band in order to stave off the living and preserve Fathulsaar's current condition. It must be understood that by accepting this position you'll be killing your character, I will provide a way for you to ressurect yourselves cleanly on the second half of the quest. I don't ask much for this role other then the people in it to be fanatically devoted to destroying other people. Alignment pending. Rutheless and barbaric are a plus.
- The Writing Writer (IP)
More roles will be added as I think of them, so don't limit your judgment to only this. I am entirely open to suggestions and criticism for this quest, so drop me a line if you have an idea and I'll see that you get some credit if I decide to add it. Although the task is enormous, the rewards are far and vast. I'd highly recommend consulting me via PM before deciding to join this quest.
Thanks!
