[Saiyan]

hey everybody i created this charcter a LONG time ago and i was wondering if anyone would help me see what he can do. i have nothing going with him at the moment.

To actually write here on Althanas, you'll first need to write a character profile in the Character Registration Forum, that is to say, this (http://www.althanas.com/world/forumdisplay.php?f=7). Putting info on that sidebar profile is not enough (that's after you actually make a real profile).

Make a new thread there, and follow the guidelines for profile-making shownhere (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=1888).

If you need inspiration or if you just want to see what's allowed and what's not, there are a lot of examples of approved character profiles here (http://www.althanas.com/world/forumdisplay.php?f=10)!

And word of warning: you cannot make a character ripped off from a published media. Dragonball, Harry Potter, Wheel of Time, Pokemon and the like are not allowed here, as they're copyrighted! You'll have to come up with original concepts (though you can still use dwarves elves drows and all of that).

actually his character's already a while ago.

it's tough bringing characters back from the back of the mind. I'd suggest maybe having a citadel battle for a nice warm up, not too much worries about plot and the like, just about making the fight scene fun to read.

Also for quests, I suggest having something fun and simple, like going after treasure or fighting bad guys that want to harm someone or some one close to them. Also you can see The Big list of RPG plots (http://www.io.com/~sjohn/plots.htm) for an idea of the types of stories you can tell.

Oh and the FQ starts up soon and maybe you can join that.

Though I'm surprised the Saiyan thing went through the screening process. There's usually a lot of debate when someone uses a concept taken directly from somehwere else.

I echo Reiko's suggestion, though if you don't like battles, you can always ask for someone to make a small quest with you, just for character interaction and a basic plot. Plus, this thread would then become relevant in the Recruitment Forum, so it's win-win!

Well I was going to use a "Soul Reaper character" a long time ago, but decided that it was too generic and changed my mind. But my advice, if you ever make a second character: Create a new race that is similar to the thing you want, then make your character after that. For example, Eternium is technically a Nobody from Kindom Hearts 2, as he lacks a real "heart" and crap like that. But I didn't call him a nobody, I called him a genetic experiment. And Ifrit, actually, is almost exactly like Dante and Inuyasha put together, but I made him a "Marquee Cambion" instead of "half-demon". Although I've never used that term in roleplaying....>.<

So if you want a saiyan, make him something like "Intergalactic Being" or something. My advice now finished. :)

No debates with stolen concepts. Luc's Luc from Suikoden, appearance wise. They're also both mages. I completely ripped off the sucka, except I'm more awesome.

If you want to use a Saiyan, just call him a Saiyan so nobody thinks you're trying to be cute and try to hide the fact that he's a Saiyan. That's Cyrus's info tidbit for today.

Ah, I never played it so I wouldn't know. >.< In anycase, I don't like ripping things from other stories and games/books, etc, so I simply adapt them and change them to my liking.

What you're doing is ripping them off, but being too much of a pussy to own up to it. I think it's worse to take a concept and change a few aspects of it so people don't realize it's borrowed than it is to simply borrow a concept.

I know I get a bit miffed when a new character makes a race that is nearly exactly like Saiyans, yet he calls it something else. How insulting!

*chucks something at cyrus's head* Duh. He's not gonna make the saiyan EXACTLY like one and call it something else, of course there are going to be some differences. I mean, if they tried to be a real Saiyan, any attacks that they did would be beyond powerplaying.

For example: " As (saiyan) flew high above Scara Brae, he noticed a huge Chi presence in the southwest sector. Rather than go and check it out, however he, simply charged up a blue ki energy ball in his hands and spoke slowly, his own Chi increasing by the second. "KAME........ME...........HA..........ME........" As he spoke the energy ball increased in power, and as he shouted the last word shoved both palms of his hands forward. "HAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!" the blue energy erupted from his hands and struck the corner, blowing it up into a giant fireball."

Right. >.<

C'mon. If someone was a direct saiyan like that and even had 1/10 of the powers and abilities and strength that most of the characters possess, they'd still be too powerful.
Now, a fist fighter with enhanced reflexes and strength and maybe some ki attacks as well would be good starts for what he wants. (AKA Ravenok Kiness)

Um, no. If he wants to make a Saiyan and conform it to be as strong as a level 0, that is perfectly acceptable. Having a Saiyan character doesn't mean he has to be Vegeta-levels of powerful. Shh.

wow so many debates so many, haha. seth rahl i have many chars that u know about i have two chars from bleach tal'gor and omega star i named them something else as to pull away from bleach and this saiyan i just called a saiyan to see what interesting things i could do. like for one i cant fly, 2 i am pretty much unarmed except for brass knuckles pretyt much. so any takers ina citadel fight here?
