BLAH! I knew I should have bought two bottles of that stuff. Serves me right for trying a new brand without getting backup. My hair, for some reason, has a difficult time taking blue tones, so the purple dye took spottily at best. I'll get another bottle of a brand I trust more tomorrow and try again, but I thought I'd post a few pics of the semi-cool effect I've started, leaving small streaks of the blonde here and there.

Also, I think I'll get a purple that's more of a reddish purple in hopes that it will help with the pigmentation. I've never had a problem with pinks, oranges or candy apple reds that I've done.

But from personal experience, I can tell you that head-shaving is a good way to go. It's so much easier to take care of, and your ponytail will never get caught on a hoodie again. Yeah, Kaleigh's 10 months old now. Karuka would know, since she was the first person I called after the girl was born.

She's starting to walk, and she says "Daisy!" (the name of the dog) every once in a while. She loves playing with her piano that her mom and I picked out while we were still together (we got a BIG head start on Christmas shopping) and the Sesame Street play remote that I told my parents to get her.

Note: For anyone paying attention, yes, that is almost exactly the armor I got for Hashi. Leather left only pauldron, leather glove with a bracer over it. Just no breastplate for me because they're annoying to wear around all day.

With my hair going crazy right now in the "baby dread" stages, I made some dreadbands to wear out in publix for when I take my brother to and from school, run errands with my sister, put in job applications, etc.

The first I made the first day because it was so incredibly easy. I took a tee shirt I no longer like/wear. I cut around it, about 4 inches up from the hem. I double it, wear it on my head. Woot.

Also, my sister wanted me to design a tattoo for her, for the milestone in her life of giving birth to her son. So, she took footprints with an ink pad, and I designed the tattoo around it. It's his first and middle name and some violets (we only had a green pencil) that she's going to have done in blue for a splash of color among the black.

The cupcakes went here instead of the Recipe thread because I didn't really create any recipe. I used a chocolate fudge cake mix for the cupcakes, and vanilla frosting that I colored with a gel icing coloring. After the green icing was applied thinly, I cut into the cupcake to dig a hole to set the Oreo in and used a V cut on the corner of a Ziplock bag to pipe the yellow petals for the sunflowers.

The green tops, about to be made into sunflowers, and a few with just a really tall yellow frosting so that none of the yellow would go to waste.

I got a design for a sleeveless hooded T from the book "Generation T: 108 Ways to Transform a T-Shirt". I hand dyed the main part of the T in golden and lime green. I wish the green had come out darker. =( Then I cut the stencils on cardstock paper and used fabric paint to stencil on the designs.

The stencil.She copied the roses out of my sketchbook and tried to keep the bears as close to what I had in the book as possible, with cleaner lines and better sugar skull accents than I had doodled on their faces.

The tattoo. I sat for two hours and I have an appointment in two weeks to finish it up. She said that there'll probably be another hour and a half of work to do on it before it's done. So much pain, but so worth it. Also, the colors will be a bit more vibrant when it's healed. I took the pics this morning, and the tattoo is scabbing and still a bit bruised under the colors.
