Green. Nothing but green.
As the bridge passes over,
Water flows below.

Man rests peacefully,
skin of jaguar on his back.
Eyes closed, mind inward.

Zephyr blows lightly,
rustling branches on the tree,
hiding foreign sounds.

[Lucien]

The sun omitted,
By the graying clouds above.
Watery silence.

The bridge grew closer
With each slow step the boy took.
His body was shaken.

His deal was now done.
All he had was death to see,
As he reached the bridge.

Boy approached, unseen
Huacamon’s eyes remained closed
remembering his home.

Jungle, hot, humid.
Predator’s roar, squeal of prey
Terror, danger… home.

A sudden new sound.
Leather on wood. Someone comes...
Eyes open, spear set.

[Lucien]

Warrior on bridge.
Lucien breathed deep the still air,
Hoping to stand tall.

The spear stared intently;
Power ready to slay him,
Lucien would not run.

Fears - He did not need.
Only anger motivated
His need to win.
