Hey, I found this site yesterday, and I haven't been part of a pbp post community in a long time. The level of skill hereabouts looks really amazing, and I got really excited and wanted to make a character. Lemme know what you think. :D

Name: Mirena Ritale (mih-REN-uh rih-TAIL)
Age: 31
Race: Human
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Gray
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 142 Lbs

Appearance: Mirena is a pretty, though not beautiful, woman of about thirty years. Her hair is pale blonde, and she wears it in two french braids that run from the center of her forhead along the crown of her skull until they meet at the back, and are coiled into a bun. She has high cheekbones, and her unlined face usually offers a reserved smile. Despite this, her expression has been hardened by the years, and the set of her eyes and her jaw is naturally stern. Her face softens when she is confronted with the things she perceives as good, or beautiful. When in the presence of children, her normally cold gray eyes warm with inner light.

Draped over her shoulders is a deep scarlet cloak of fine wool, trimmed in whorls of white. Sewn into the center of the cloak is a pattern of three curved triangles, converging and overlapping, turning the center into a smaller, convex triangle. Set around and through these triangles is a fourth, razor straight, its sides dividing in half the greater triangles (this is similar to a Celtic triquetra, with flat outer edges encased in a triangle). This is the holy symbol of Ril, the religion she devoutly follows.

Beneath her cloak can be seen a simple breastplate, made of well polished steel, and shaped to fit a woman’s body. On the abdomen of the breastplate the same symbol that adorns her cloak is shown in lacquered relief. Her legs are protected by a skirt of armored plate backed in leather. She wears a shirt and trousers of the same red cloth as her cloak, visible below the shoulder pads of her armor, and the mail skirt. Her hands and forearms are guarded by leather gloves, palms and wrists backed in steel. These gloves match her boots. From her belt hang several small pouches, along with a basic knife. In her hand she carries a large axe. Its wooden haft is roughly five and a half feet long, capped by the smooth, arcing blade of the weapon.

History: Mirena was born to a large but backwater peasant town known as Vaeril. It was a harsh and bitter place, ruled by a petty, corrupt lord. Between unfair taxes, uncontrolled guardsmen and other forms of corruption and poverty, life was difficult for Mirena, though no worse than that of the other craftsfolk of Vaeril. Her father was a carpenter of mediocre skill, and though her family had little, they did their best to instill in her the difference between right and wrong.

The only refuge from the difficulty of life in Vaeril for Mirena was the sanctuary provided by the Church. Much of her life has been spent inside the white, gothic walls of the Ril monastery. Within those grounds, she was protected and strengthened. Within those grounds, good and evil alike received what was deserved by them. At 15 she was betrothed to a charming, local young man who she had fallen deeply in love with. He had very little to offer her, and in order to gain some measure of standing, he became a soldier. The war, if a personal quarrel between two nobles can be called such, ended three years later.

At eighteen, Mirena was married, and for the first time, life was good. Her husband had become a potter and she gave birth to a son named Samyar. This prosperity was not to last however, and everything changed 12 years later. When the post-war boom ended, and Vaeril fell back into it’s previous poverty. Her husband had become little more than a drunkard when the news came that her son had been beaten to death. She was filled with rage and grief, but the guards, and the government who headed them would do nothing. Hunting down her husband, she finds him hunched over a table, lost in his drink. When she confronts him with their child’s death, he doesn’t care. Disgusted and enraged, she drags him into the street and beats him. Many of the townsfolk watch, but do nothing to stop her, and she reads the silent agreement on their faces.

She stormed into the local church and the people of Vaeril, whose long repression had bred discontent and resentment, rally behind her righteous anger. Riots ensue, and the local lord and his government are overthrown. The soldiers who fought against the rioters, along with the corrupt government, are executed. Mirena executed the lord herself. After these events, thee townspeople make her into Lady Mirena Ritale, and offer her Vaeril. She remains in Vaeril for 5 months while it stabilizes, setting up a new government for the people. Once the town was stable, she handed off leadership to another, and left Vaeril for good.

((I intend to write up the events preceding and immediately following the revolution, but that doesn’t need to be part of this synopses))

Skills: Mirena’s main abilities lie in her skill with her axe, and in her zealous determination to protect the good in the world from corruption. She has better than average martial skills when wielding her axe. This is augmented by her battle prayers. Mirena may call upon the power of her gods and asks for their aid in the combating of evil. If she does so, righteousness buffers her natural abilities.

The five gods of Ril are Rilanesh the Lord, Tothal the Guardian, Arliev (Ahr-lee-ehv) the Dreamer, Avinar the Changer, and Kirask the End. By calling upon Tothal, she girds herself in faith, and may ignore any wounds that strike her. A prayer to Arliev opens her eyes to the waves of the Dream, and gives her limited insight and wisdom. The chant of the Changer is a war-cry, and Avinar's fury is channeled into her attacks. Though her faith is stronger than steel, her power is not, and she receives only minor benefits from her prayers. These gifts are still mighty, however, and she takes them as proof that she is performing divine will. Only the Three-Who-Are-One can be called upon in this manner. Rilanesh is the Lord of All, and he is the Judge, but does not act. Kirosk is death, and his gift encompasses all things.

Mirena has a minor affinity to the magic energies that correspond to the realm of Avinar, Sky Lord. This is mainly represented as light and flame, and though it might someday be a useful weapon, at the moment it represents little more than prestidigitation. She can create small flames or a little light, and is less likely both to freeze or burn, but only slightly.

Little lies beyond these skills but the things she learned in a life that she has since let go.

Equipment: Mirena wears a fine, hooded cloak and has one extra set of clothes. Her armor is roughly halfplate, consisting of a steel breastplate and skirt, augmented by armored leather gloves and boots. She is armed with her long-axe, and a knife. She has a simple satchel for keeping any small possessions in, and several pouches on her belt filled with coin, herbs, and small odds and ends.

All right, very nice detailed profile, I just need you to elaborate on some things.

Exactly what kind of armour does she have? Keep in mind that you're level zero, so nothing above the strength of steel.

Her affinity towards Sky magic. I realize you said she can't do much with it at this point in time, but if she can do anything at all, please give a description of it. Also, I need a greater description of what exactly praying to her Gods gives her. Nothing too strong, remember that as you level up your character grows stronger, so we don't allow for very powerful moves at level zero. ^^

Thanks, I edited in a better description of her prayers, her magic (which is essentially several cantrips), and added a description of her armor to the equipment section, though, it was described in appearance.

Also, when I have it all written up, where should I post the extended story version of her backstory? It's only like 5 real scenes, but it's a little long to throw into her profile? I could be wrong about that of course, but what do I know? =P

All right, just remember that the abilities these Gods give Mirena won't last for very long, especially the gifts from Tothal and Avinar.

And your backstory can be thrown into her history at your next level-up, if you want to add it.

Approverized!
