Hey people folks! As you probably guessed long before even clicking on this, I am indeed rather new here. I only found this site a couple days ago, but sneaking around and spying, lurking even, I noticed that hereabouts what seems to be the average skill of the writers is, essentially the best I've come across.
I used to do pbp RPs on several other sites in the past, but it's been a long time, and if I might say, I'm really looking forward to getting to write with you guys.
So ya... Awesome stuff. Hopefully someone responds to this soon, thus distracting me from the vile machinations of homeworks yet again. <.< >.>

Heya, welcome to Althy. If you have any questions grab the nearest friendly mod and fire away. Please keep your hands and arms in the forum at all times and do not trust cute people or things. We can not be held liable for any loss of brain function due to use of Althanas.
Also, as the Greek say, 'Beware those bearing gifts'. (Except me ^_^)
*Holds out a plate of freshly baked brownies* Have a brownie and I hope you have fun.
hey I'm perfectly healthy for the brain^^

Be careful of people baring trays of bakes goods. They used it to poison and enslave you *showcases the collar*.

*glares at Raven*
You really need to stop stealing snippits from my introduction.
Welcome to Althanas! Please keep your arms and legs inside the forum at all times or they may be removed by rabid, zombified characters. Do not feed the following people; Cyrus the virus, Slayer of the Rot, Lucien, Serilliant, AdventWings, Moonlit Raven, Reiko and Christoph for they may become attached to you afterwards and are hard to get rid of. Any screams you may now be experiencing are the sounds of dying characters. Do not be alarmed for they shall be revived in new and inventive ways the following thread. Have a nice day. ^^
*offers you a plate of cookies, which is good! but some of them are poisonous, which is bad...*

Oooo, brownies, that's so very not suspicious! Yay! ~Eats brownies and scrolls down~
Oooo, cookies, everyone's so nice! ~Eats cookies~
And yeah, she's tall, though from my point of view, when the average height for girls in your family is 5'10", she isn't *that* tall =P
...Baked goods you say? Hrm... Awkward... Well, at least I've learned my lesson!
Ooo, cookies! Yum! Though...wasn't there something about not eating baked goods? Nono, that's crazy talks. ~Delicious!~
So, now that I'm approved and such, does anyone have any good suggestions of how to go about joining a quest? I was looking at the FQ and stuff, but I don't know if that's really a good idea. Also , if I post a little story thing of my own about this character, can I get EXP for it? How long should quests and things be, for them to count? Oh, and if there's a better place to ask these kinds of questions, whereabouts is it? Thanks all ^^

Nah, ask away in here while we're all paying attention to you. :p
A good place to start is Scara Brae or the Peaceful Promenade. You can just make an open quest about anything in there and get others to join up. If you have any kind of story idea then post a recruitment thread in the Role Player's Corner and get others to join in on the fun.
In order for a quest to be judged and awarded experience it needs to be either 10 posts or 10,000 words.
