Name: Gabriel Fisher
Age: 19
Race: Human
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 150 lbs
*Occupation: Fisherman (smuggler)

Appearance: Not one to stand out from a crowd, Gabe has a dynamic face dominated by an almost tidy goatee and framed by shoulder-length hair. Lithely built with lean muscles, he exudes an aura of grace and confidence most prominently seen in his swagger. Mildly attractive, it’s this aura that actually makes him desirable.

History: Born into a family of fisherman in a small coastal village, Gabe enjoyed a mundane childhood full of chores, fishing, and stories told at the fireplace. The brightest of the brood, his family could not afford to send him to school or even find a willing mentor to take him on as an apprentice. Gabe instead earned an education in Radasanth where his family would frequently travel to trade. From the docks and warehouses, to the streets and back alleys, to the alehouses and shops, Gabe soaked in as much knowledge as he possibly could. His favorite haunts were the taverns, where he would watch wealthy patrons and do his best to imitate their mannerisms. The more he grew, the more he was expected to help his father and learn the trade so that one day he might help his elder brothers run the family business, but he quickly became dissatisfied with such a boring, routine life, and on a recent trip to Radasanth, he discovered something interesting, something new, something exciting that promised to give his life new meaning and plenty of good times: Magol’s plant, more commonly called “Magnificence” on the streets.
An illegal commodity in most lands, it functions as a powerful opiate when smoked or ingested, and after trying it just once, Gabe was hooked. Magnificence is hard to find to begin with, but it’s also extremely expensive. To support his growing addiction, he began selling it around the docks with one of his younger brothers, Raphael, and eventually began using the fishing business to smuggle large quantities of the plant in and out of Radasanth. After a year of working and smuggling, Gabe and Raphael were able to afford the tuition costs for a small school in Radasanth, finally getting a proper education. With exposure to classic literature and high culture and even rudimentary magic, Gabe is once again growing dissatisfied with his life and the direction it’s headed as he looks forward to his twentieth birthday.

Skills:
Minor Telekinesis: Gabe is just learning how to use his newfound powers, and can lift/move/manipulate up to ~30 lbs at a distance of ~50 ft. The duration lasts for as long as he continues to successfully concentrate and focus on the task, and the process is physically draining, leaving him feeling anywhere from a bit tired after moving a pen across a desk to completely exhausted after moving a large barrel across a room. Though he is not technically limited in how many times he can use this in a day or how long between telekinetic feats he must wait before trying another, he only has the stamina to use it in moderation, twice per hour, in general

Swordplay: Average proficiency with a longsword or cutlass.
Knife-Fighting: Reasonably accurate with a thrown blade, below-average proficiency in actual knife-fighting.
Seamanship: Gabe is intimately familiar with sailing, fishing, and all things nautical.

Equipment:
-Steel longsword
-Iron throwing knife
-Small amounts of Magnificence (valued at 30 gp) for personal use [enough to last 2-3 uses]

Just what exactly is Magnificence?

A flowering plant that grows in marshes, swamps, riverbeds, tidal pools, flood plains, ponds, or essentially anywhere that has a temperate-to-warm climate in a water-dominated area.

It's used recreationally to induce feelings of mild euphoria and relaxation, artificially drawing the user into a care-free state for a period of between five minutes and a half hour, depending on the potency of the actual plant. During this time the user's mental capacity is slightly increased while they suffer a minor loss of basic motor skills, reaction time, memory loss, and coordination similar to alcoholic intoxication. After the initial intoxication, the lingering effects include but are not limited to philosophical musings and an inexplicable desire to write poetry which is inevitably deemed crap when read sober.

Also notable is the "crash" experienced after the plant has left the user's system entirely, which manifests in the form of depression and even mild physical symptoms that include hadaches, coughing, and shaking, and in extreme cases after a long binge, vomiting, nausea, and physical weakness. The effects of the crash can last from an hour or two to the better part of a day.

Depending on the availability at any given time, a typical "use" costs 10-15 GP, which will supply enough to be rolled into a cigarette form and smoked.
