Okay, here's how it works: You post a song (this works best if you can find a video), the next person listens to it and states their opinions about it. They post a song, the next person listens to it, etc.
Only two rules are; you have to listen to it all the way through, and don't post unless you're contributing.
I'll start:
The Who - My Generation

Disclaimer: I have nothing against the band or their song, but this is what I thought when watching/listening.
Not really my type of music, but interesting nonetheless. The stuttering was part annoying and part distracting, and the part where they destroyed their equipment was rather odd, too. I understand they did it a lot, but it looked rather pointless to a non-fan.

I'm used to high pitch singers but that ones just a grade too high and the background tune blends together in a rather bad and easily forgettable way.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tHZqxecCukg
It wasn't terrible, it was actually pretty good. I found it didn't build up to my expectation, as the repetition and voice stayed roughly the same throughout the song. It sounded vaguely familiar, like some far off folk song of some country I don't care about, stepped up a notch to sound electronic. The beat not changing was understandable, but I wanted a bigger and better sounding ending.
All in all, alright. I'm not judging the AMV though, because that's far more subjective than judging music.
E Nomine
Das Tier In Mir Wolfen (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zQHFVOdJbXU)
It's not bad. Not my kind of music, but I wasn't rushing for the "X" in the corner of the screen or anything. It's something I suppose I can appreciate, but again, I wouldn't listen to it myself.
Take this one.

Pretty good song overall. I like the piano or synchronizer that was in the middle. Also, the story/lyrics aren't half bad and way better then I thought they would be for bordering on metal. Very epic sounding though, and I also really like the guitar. Something about metal music without speaking from your bowels is quite awesome.
Phish - Farmhouse

Alright, I've heard good things about Phish, but I have to say that this was dull. Not bad, just not exciting or something I'd go looking for. A little folksy, but I suppose that my have to do with the audience and the feel they were going for with that performance.

Alright, starting out weird. Nice bass going now. VEry Techno, but the screaming is still going on. Now I'm getting scared. I'm reminded of Pryamid Head now. Kinda scared. Interesting visuals. Like zombies, but no zombie ness. The cake is a lie. Kitty girl. Seems forced, but it helps the effect. Weird Bass ackwards effect.
Overall alright song.

A strange song - I could only see a vague connection between the music video and the song itself, but the connection was there, and the content of the video worked with the song. The reverse-injuries had a very surreal feel to them.
As for the sounds of the song itself, I found it slightly repetitive - I generally like my techno to build on itself more - but the vocals added an interesting element to the mix. I could hardly tell what she was saying, but I tend to like it better that way.

Well, in that case, I'll do the next one too.
Never heard the song they're spoofing, but that was damn funny. It would have happened to my friend, but he didn't have a wife or girlfriend to lose. I liked the part about him trying to go to the bathroom - also, when they started talking about Halo 2.
Finally, the WoW was a nice touch. Poor guy.

Well, none could ever discredit my foolishness. Welcome back, by the way. I was wondering when that would happen.
I listened to this band in high school, a few times, but I'd never heard this song. For the most part, Meshuggah would be much better if you could actually hear what they were saying. I'm not one to talk, with all the metal I adore, but seriously, there gets a point where it gets a little ridiculous. Getting through six minutes of it was pretty intense on my patience. Very pretty guitar work at around the three minute mark. At the 5:30 mark I was pretty fed up with the song. That's the great thing about punk rock. 2 minute songs make sure your fans don't knock themselves out, literally, with all that headbanging. I'm pretty sure I saw a few fans in the audience go down. And thanks for all the flashing lights at the end, man, I'm epileptic now. I'm at 5:49... did he just scream, "Thank you very much! I had a good time!" ... That's even better than "Do you folks like coffee?!"
Well...almost.

Its definitely different. Its got that odd beat that you could easily get stuck in your head. I also like how it has that mysterious air about it. Almost as if you're about to leave your safe little box behind and reach an epiphany. Kinda the best example I could use is like in MIB When Will Smith realizes aliens are real.

Not a bad song, they sound a lot like Bon Jovi which while not a bad thing they seem a bit lacking in the oomph bands like that can deliver in a song, its not bad but more something I'd hear on the radio and simply listen rather than search out the single or MP3.

Okay riffs and drumming, but those seemed to fall behind the dark, orchestral effect they were going for, which somehow lacked... something. Puritania, for all intents and purposes, had more oomph.

But jesus fucking christ do you all listen to some of the worst music I've ever heard.
Rise Against could be better if their singer was less whiny and their lyrics didn't suck half the time. Their music is pretty decent, their songs themselves are pretty decent. But they're wanna-be old-school punk, and they fall short.

This song fell into the rather large category of rock songs I neither hated nor enjoyed. I can't really identify anything that made me dislike it, but there was nothing about it that made me care if I ever listened to it again. Perhaps if it had a slightly more catchy hook.
Anyways, just to change things up, here is Go Down Gambling by Blood Sweat and Tears. This isn't an actual music video, just someone synching up the music to a video. Still, it is the full song.

Just for continuity: Fatboy Slim - Weapon of Choice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WW8flwpH-Q)
Very nice song, very fun song, not repetitive, and incredible orchestration. I'll have to keep tabs on this artist for sure. *nods* And that's not even mentioning the awesomeness of the video, too.
Steven Curtis Chapman - Lord of the Dance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtX9BnEukTc)
I did not like that song at all. While I wouldn't classify it as country music, the instrumentation, especially in the beginning, really reminded me of everything I don't like about country music. Honestly, I know taste is taste, but this is one of those songs where I really just didn't "get" why someone might like it.
Anyway, since we have so many Rise Against fans on the forum, I figure that the people here might also like Boy Sets Fire. They are somewhat similar to Rise Against, only if Rise Against was trying to be more like Fugazi than Bad Religion with their sound (I'm not sure if that makes sense to any of you).
Anyways, since this forum is full of angst, I figured I'd give you one of their softer songs. If you like harder stuff, go find Voiceover.

I dug the song for a bit, but the thing is it was just too freaking long. By about 2 minutes in, I really wanted it to end. Until that point, it was pretty good, it had a catchy beat and some fun lines. The thing is, I find that rap songs have so little variation in them they have to be shorter than any other kind of a song in order to be successful.

This is Atreyu's "Lose It" off of their new album, Lead Sails Paper Anchor. I never liked them - at all - until this album, when they moved away from screaming metal into what I felt was a far better sound. There's still a little bit in the hooks, but it's not nearly as grating on the nerves. If it sounds like something you'd like, give it a try.

Yeah, I should've listened to the warning sirens going off in my head when I read Atreyu. Screaming in songs ain't really my thing, and I found the guitars to be a bit on the boring side. My apologies to fans of this band; I'm sure there's something redeemable about them, but I'll stick with My Chemical Romance's "Welcome to the Black Parade" album for my self-loathing fits.

That guitarist sounds like he has all the soul in the world. Plus, the way the vocalist means every word he says. I did some research on them after hearing the song, and the guitarist is pretty acclaimed.

I hate covers, therefore I hate this broad.
The most touching piece of music I've ever heard. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0)

A true masterpiece. A wonderfully brilliant work far a head of its time. Nice one God Hand.

I'm going to be shot for this one. I actually don't really like many metal bands and this is one of them. Instrumentals are fine and well played, vocals and lyrics suit the style, imagery is very connected to the words, and that's all I can come up with that's good in terms of sticking to the genre. Personally the singer sounds like someone ripped out his vocal choards and tried to put them back in, and the guitarists are like broken tape recorders stuck on repeat. -Shot for biased opinion.-

Veratrix probably would love me for this one.

Not a big fan of musicals, I mean a few are nice, but in the end I guess I prefer something heavier, like metal and Rock. Overall I like the annunciation and how easy it is to tell whats being sung. I find that there are a few times hwere I can't make out what the hell they're singing, and that detracts from the musical, since the songs are kinda part of the dialogue as well.

Slipknot without their masks is strange. Without them, it seems almost as though they're tamer. The song doesn't help, seeming not quite as hard as they used to be. Either way, I'm not a fan of them or the video.

The main riff got on my nerves after a while, but the rest of the song was surprisingly good. I liked the video, too - very original, and one hell of a trip.

First heard these guys a few weeks ago when I went to a Crooked X concert. I'd never heard of them before, but they rocked my socks. D:

Not bad at all. I listen to metal, but generally nothing new because most of it is garbage. This is very thrashy, though, and I enjoyed it. I liked the solo :o

Yessss I'm so glad we got some Chili's in here.
I have most of their albums, and Under the Bridge has always been one of my top Chili's songs. I love the dramatic choir at the end in the single. :) They're a fantastic band - seems like no matter what someone prefers, Red Hot Chili Peppers are on the list somewhere.
There's no actual music video for this one, so it's just audio. I felt the need to bring the funk. :) Red Hot Chili Peppers actually covered this one, but I prefer this original:

I knew exactly what you were posting when I read that :p Very nice. Stevie's got some hammy songs, but some gems (naturally). This is obviously a great one.
And I'm not really a fan of RHCP, but I can't deny the greatness of that song :p

Pretty incredible version if you ignore Gillan entirely. I love the intro, too.

Indeed, the intro is badass. Highway Star just happens to be one of my favorite songs in Rock Band as well. Although, I have to say I liked the original solo better... and it was kind of hard to ignore Gillan.
Now, cruising through this thread, I've noticed a complete lack of Muse and sci-fi kung fu spaghetti westerns, so I present to you...

That song's amazing, end of story. Those guys possess a massive amount of originality, especially for a mainstream rock band. Ask them to share some with me next time you see 'em, ok? :]

I liked it quite a lot. Queens of the Stone Age is a new band that I've found I've started to like, however it seems to require the right mood to be in to listen to it. A bit slow, and it some what drones on, but has decently good lyrics and a very steady and consistent music. Nothing really stands out in the music, and it doesn't drive my emotions.
It's best to watch the video as well. Full effect. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=AfwBoumNpmc)

I hate Bjork. I've always hated Bjork. I've never heard a piece of music by her that I enjoyed. Sure, she's got talent, but she strays a little too far from what I consider 'listenable'. I do enjoy me some experimental music, but Bjork has never, ever been my thing. That said, the video was alright, but again, I absolutely, positively hate her and her music.
Besides, she can't touch my man Bruce vocally.

One of the greatest vocal performances ever, and proof that old men can still rock.
