Name: Ianward
Age: Eleven years spent as a mortal.
Race: Unknown. For all intents and purposes, he's a dragon with mammalian characteristics (human reproductive system, warm-blooded)
Hair Color: n/a
Eye Color: Golden-brown.
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 187 lbs

Appearance:

Essentially humanoid, possessing of a lean and sinuous physique. He carries himself well. His scales are dull brown, fading to a lighter shade on his underside, his muzzle dragon-ish with pliable lips, despite his many predatory off-white teeth which cross in a clearly visible pattern; think crocodile teeth in shape and manner. Long, smooth pointed ears sitting high and perked atop his head or flat, or any position in between. His hands and feet are human-normal, if not for the black talons.

Ian wears a tunic similar to the one displayed here (http://cache.cow.net/rocker/Images/tunic.jpg) complete with the belt shown. Along with this, he often sports a pair of close-fitting black pants, a black cloak, black knee-height boots and finger-less black leather gloves.

History:

It is theorized that he was once a non-corporeal entity charged with guarding an ancient tomb, and when he failed at that task was then exiled to roam the planet as a mortal being. Bitter and frustrated, he wandered for a bit, befriending an inquisitive green parrot in his travels.

He became an apprentice of the sphinx priestess Rii in his third year and learned many things from her (more on this later). Rii eventually used him to fight for her in a small war against a rebel clan of fierce nomads who were threatening the city in which she reigned. Unfortunately Ian experienced a falling out with his mentor and became a spy for the enemy, soon openly betraying Rii and the city. The systemic knowledge he provided lost the sphinx her war, and as the city was overrun Rii was cursed into a limiting form and much of her mind destroyed. The leader of the rebels, however, did not want a known back-stabber among his ranks and banished Ian into the desert shortly following their victory, along with his ex-mentor.

Skills:

Swordsmanship (above average): Ian is pretty handy with his accustomed blade. He tends to be overzealous and needs to work more on watching his opponent rather than just rushing in, but for the most part he can hold his own when evenly matched. Rii was an accomplished swordswoman and taught him a few tricks in the limited time she was able to spend with him.

Tracking (average): He can track most individuals by following the usual clues, as long as they haven't crossed water. He is easily thrown off the trail.

Survival Training (average): He knows how to thrive, for at least a short while, in most inhospitable climates and areas.

Equipment:

1 cloth pack.
2 tin cups for cooking/drinking/eating out of.
1 copper kettle.
1 sleeping roll.
1 similar tunic and trousers to change into.
1 standard steel long sword with a hilt wrapped in dyed red leather.
1 one-man patched cloth tent.
1 5-inch steel dagger (used for skinning, spearing vegetables with and the like).
1 coil of thin rope (about seven feet).
1 plain, circular bone pendant.

Familiars:

Name: Rii
Age: Ageless.
Race: Sphinx.

Rii is about the height of a small housecat or terrier dog, with a plump, rectangular trunk, short orange fur and four stubby legs ending in feline paws. She has a cat's tail and a pale round human face kept covered with a strip of light blue cloth that hangs over her nose and the lower portion of her visage, tied around her head over the tops of her ears. A flaxen mane of sorts thickens her neck.

It is uncertain just how much she has retained since the curse...usually, Rii comes across as nothing more than a dumb animal, save for a few seemingly lucid moments when she demonstrates logical thought. She is extremely protective of Ian and gets quite upset when they are separated.

Name: Fel
Age: Four years.
Race: Parrot.

Fel is a medium-sized bird with striking green plumage and rich black eyes. He likes hanging out on Ian's shoulder and has an impressive vocabulary. Ian has suspicions that the opinionated Fel is more intelligent than what's let on.
