UK Althanas-a-con

Hello lovely people!

I have proposed this idea in the past, but it never fully came to fruition. The best that has really come out if it is yours truly meeting up with Chris (Shinsou) and creating a friendship there. But I have met Mr Gnarl, and since his new wife (congratulations guys again) is somewhat around, and there are other Althanians in the UK ... Well.

Firstly, if you are in the UK, or able to easily get to the UK (i.e. the rest of Europe) comment below.

Secondly, if you are interested in having a giant meet up, comment below also.

What I am going to suggest is all of us going to a convention or other. I work at a fair few around the country, demonstrating board games, and I know there is the Glasgow MCM Comicon coming up in September.

I will be building a list as below of folk I know who are in the UK. And in the RoI because it is pretty close. I know you guys are still part of the EU and we are not, thanks to a few silly people, but we love you.

People in the UK:

Scotland:
Twitch (Aurelianus) - Central
Callum - usually central
Ailsa (Philomel, me) - Glasgow
Gordon (Grumble, my husband) - Glasgow
Flames - Edinburgh

England:
Chris (Shinsou can Osiris) - Manchester
David (Gnarl and Root) - Manchester
Sage - Manchester

Ireland (Republic and Northern):

Wales:
Cyd (Mord) - Cardiff

Add Sage to that England list. He'd always be up for a meet.

Isn't Flames also UK based? And Cyd is in Wales.

I'm in Cardiff, which has excellent links to Bristol, Birmingham, and middle England.

In Edinburgh, present and accounted for! But I'm also afraid that I'm notoriously poor with any attempt at socialising. At present I can't commit to anything more than a day-trip - and even that's going to prove nigh-impossible from October onwards.

Worst case, carry on without me!

Plus, I need to get my finger out and start writing again.

Glasgow comicon is my first idea for a UK althanas-a-con, but we could do another city closer to the middle. Manchester is another idea, as it is nearer to central UK and Chris, David and others are already there.

Glasgow is about as far away as you can get before you reach an ocean :P

Manchester then might be a shout. I have been there a couple of times now to meet the guys down there and it is pretty good.

They do have a comicon, but it is at the end of July, just when we will (hopefully) be moving house, so not great for us.

If you time it when I'm at my folks in North Wales, definately.

Cyd, if transport is an issue for you I can always pop down to Wales, chuck you in the back of the car and bring you back up?

Whatever we choose to do, i'll be happy. I'm already in regular contact with Ailsa but i'm dying to meet Cyd, Twitch and Flames (looks like we'd have to kidnap him).

That's pretty much my wet dream.
