View Full Version : How do we refer to an Alerar-born individual?

I've read quite a few different ways to do it thus far. It's been nagging me since my first week. This might seem like a trivial little thing but the perfectionist in me is screaming, so, please. Help. *pleading eyes*

I've consulted the old wiki and it states quite clearly that their predominant national and racial identity is Alerian. This is all fine and good, however, I think I have one small, teeny weeny bone to pick with this identity selection.

There is no I in Alerar.

I think that fact is as important here as it proves to be concerning 'no I in team'. Wouldn't you agree? You don't make a nation like Alerar by yourself! No.

Respect to the creator/s and writer/s - one Sir Artemis as far as I can tell - that put in the hard work constructing Alerar's wiki sheet. Seeing as he no longer seems to be here I can't speak to him personally on the matter, but, I would like to make a definitive tweak to his glorious work.

As one of two dark elven front runners left on Althanas, I propose we poll for it and that way we achieve perfect clarity henceforth.

I am actually quite partial toward Aleran I do believe. That's the one I'll be voting for.

Tell me what you think, if this has ever been a niggling thought in the back of your mind, or if you don't care about these pointless discussions feel free to tell me to shut my blabbermouth gob and be quiet. Happy to oblige you either way!

I prefer Aleran myself, but that could be because I'm used to seeing the final consonant of a nationality/regionality or what have you removed and replaced with 'n' to indicate heritage.

Storm, Storm no. Stop. Too many letters. Simple and clean.

This.

Also, anyone who pronounces Corone "cor-rone-ay" can get in the sea. :)

I used to say Aleraran, but I've been using Alerian for awhile now. There's no "I" in Canada, bu we're still called Canadians.

You may find this of particular interest, Yvonne.

Please forgive the terrible formatting, but under languages, it suggests the proper term is "Aleraran"

I think I use Aleraran. I think.

If its in the wiki then I would go with Dirks'.

I apologise to those who use the term Alerarian for disadvantaging you and leaving you off the poll. I will tally your say-so if you post it like Storm and Shin here and keep it in mind.

Ooh, yer exposing yer flank there dear. I will hold me tongue of its Canadian jokes.

To be fair there is also the terms Aleraranan and Aleranians in that wiki entry too, which proves this was an ongoing problem when the wiki entry was written as well, haha. Thank you for the wiki-ness Mister Dirks, much appreciated and very helpful but it simultaneously makes this query even more cloudy!
