View Full Version : Approved The Beast Cries Out [Tannis Kuvalin, Level 1]

Tannis
07-10-2018, 07:12 PM
Name: Tannis Kuvalin
Age: 27
Race: Werewolf
Height: 5’11 (7’2)
Weight: 215lbs (289lbs)
Occupation: Blacksmith
Personality: Friendly and outgoing, gregarious and helpful. Tannis likes meeting new people and trying to help them out.
History:
Tannis was brought into the werewolf life at a relatively young age, after he was bitten by a rogue werewolf and his parents abandoned him. He doesn’t remember this, thankfully, as before he even could form solid memories he was adopted into a pack. He was raised by the leader, the Alpha, and her mate - until he was old enough for his time to leave the pack came. This was because, despite his normally friendly personality, Tannis was a rather aggressive individual, a potential Alpha in waiting. Rather than challenge his mother for lead of the pack, Tannis struck out on his own, using the skills that his family taught him to make his own way. This has led to performing the trade of blacksmith and leather worker, as he likes working with his hands when he is not busy helping others.

Appearance:
Tannis is tall and rather heavily muscled. The scars from his infecting bite are on his chest, scarred and faded with age. Shaggy black hair hangs just down past his neck, and it shows clearly that he doesn’t bother getting a proper trim - it’s just hacked off. Intense yellow eyes reveal his inhuman nature, one of the few traits that show when he is human.

Shifted:
When shifted, Tannis swells and grows, becoming far more bestial in nature. His black hair transitions to a thick black fur across his body. His muscles grow and densen, his jaw cracks and becomes more of a snout. He becomes more feral, his pupils narrowing and claws and fangs growing. The scars on his chest are far more pronounced at this stage, as places where the fur on his torso does not grow correctly.

Skills:
Blacksmithing: Tannis knows enough about blacksmithing to be considered a raw journeyman - not good enough to really open his own shop, but good enough to consider being hired near anywhere. Handy with a hammer or the billows, he knows how to make many simple tools and weapons given time, a forge, and materials.

Natural Bounty: Tannis learned in a rather simple tribe. They knew how to survive off the land around him, and Tannis grew up learning the same things they already knew. Hunting, foraging, gathering - he is far more at home in the forest, than he is in a city or town.

Abilities:
Human State:
Enhanced Nature:
Tannis carries the touch of the were in him always, and even when he is a human this has its impact. His senses are sharper, his muscles stronger - even if not to the same extent that they are when he is transformed.
1.5x Human Strength
2x Human Speed
1.5x Human Perception

The Beast Within:
Tannis releases the hold on his bestial nature. While this can happen under his own control, it will always happen upon a night of the full moon, whether he wants it or not. When shifted freely, Tannis can change between his human state, and his half-man half-wolf state at will, though it does take time. When shifted under the pull of the full moon, he is stuck within his half-state until the touch of the sun’s light reaches him - but under the full moon, he loses control of himself, losing his higher reasoning and his intelligence. Additionally, while freely able to change back to human state, after returning to human form he becomes weaker for a considerable period of time.
{Currently, he can shift four times (back and forth, back and forth, so human to half-state twice) per combat thread. Each change lasts for three posts.}
Altered Stats:
Gains Claws, Fangs.
2x Human Strength
2.5x Human Speed
2x Human Perception

Full Moon Stats:
2.5 Human Strength
2.5x Human Speed
1 Perception
Loss of mental faculties, mental resistances.

Shifting Penalty:
When returning to human form, Tannis suffers a penalty to his body that lasts for 4 posts after the return. While suffering the penalty, Tannis cannot shift back into his half-state.
.5 Human Strength
.75 Human Speed
.5 Human Perception

Equipment/Weapons:
Smithing Hammer, Iron :
Tannis main tool, and main weapon. A heavy hammer, crafted to be used at the forge. He usually has this tool on hand, though if it comes to bloodshed, he will more than likely resort to his natural implements.

Smithy tools:
A small assortment of tools that Tannis has gathered together, useful when he is at the forge. While nothing impressive, and certainly lacking if he doesn’t actually have access to a forge itself, it means that he won’t have to beg for poor tools from whoever he is working under.

More than happy to work on him. I wasn't sure how his penalties would affect his TPL here, so I don't know if I balanced it heavily enough to bring him back in line!

Quick questions:

Are his claws any particular strength at all? Iron, steel etc, or just standard keratin.

Can he be affected by the full moon in a Citadel Battle or other illusionary style setting?

What material is his hammer made from? Iron?

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hi there, thanks for giving him a once over. No, his claws and fangs are nothing special the threat comes in his strength, not their composition at least for now.

If he is aware they are an illusion, they will not affect him. The Moon shift is involuntary. Citadel battles then shouldn't affect him, I think.

Hammer is standard iron.
