Some of you will have already seen this in the google doc (PM/IM me if you don't have access yet) but I figured I'd post this here so we have a place to organize our thoughts. Below is the lore I've written so far about the Aleraran assassins, who I have named the Mikreshi Hutners. If you have any questions about them/can think of any info I should add, just let me know.

Mikreshi Hunters

Background/History: Discovered only a couple dozen years ago, the Mikreshi Hunters are a grouping of three tribal clans hidden within the depths of Alerar’s north-western forest, the Mikreshi Darkwood. They are the only group of dark elves known to be secluded from the normal technological advancement of society, and generally seem to be much more physically adept and fit than the average drow, especially the male and female hunter/warriors who lead the tribes.

Based on what can be gathered from their verbal history, the Mikreshi Hunters originated as a small group of Aleraran elves who wanted to continue the study of magic as an art form. After the great exodus from Raiaera, this small group further isolated itself in the darkwood, subjecting themselves to an incredibly difficult lifestyle in order to pursue their art. This led to their warriors becoming perhaps the deadliest in all of the known world.

Recruited from these Mikreshi Hunters were a number of young drow, starting with a pair of brothers named Kron and Shynt Sha’keth. The Sha’keth brothers became two of Alerar’s most successful assassins, operating directly under the direction of the High Graf in order to accomplish the sovereign’s goal’s at any cost. Because they used magic in addition to physical skills and tools, the hunters’ involvement in the nation’s affairs (and their very existence) was kept a secret from almost everyone.

During the Corone War, the Empire made a deal with Alerar and in exchange for a promise of land upon their victory received assistance from the Sha’keth brothers. They were extremely effective until Shynt was killed in combat by Joshua Cronen. Kron became obsessed with avenging his brother’s death, and was burned as an agent of Alerar. Years later, Cronen would kill Kron as well. While this was of little interest to the nameless organization that trained and operated the Mikreshi Hunters, it was of great interest to the youngest Sha’keth sibling, a female named Vityr.

Known for being even more physically gifted than her older brothers, Vityr swore a blood oath to kill Joshua Cronen when she learned that Kron had lost his life in the attempt to do so. Only then did she join the High Graf’s faction of shadow assassins, and only with her fierce leadership and determination did her overseers begin to dream of making good on the Empire’s failed promise, and taking not part, but all of Corone, in advance of world domination.

When the supervolcano erupted, the High Graf knew Corone would be significantly weakened, and decided to send his strongest weapons as the tip of the spear while he prepared the main force of the invasion. Vityr and fifteen other hunters were selected, outfitted, and sent off by airship. They brought with them the best of Alerar’s weapons and training, and a spell certain to weaken the magic-wielding Coronians.

Appearance: Dark skin, hair, and eyes, black facial tattoos that make them appear monstrous in low light situations. Tall, long of limb, and athletically slim, built like endurance athletes despite the immense power in their bodies.

Skills: From the time that they can walk, Mikreshi Hunters are trained to fight with fists and feet and sticks and stones. At age five they are given a hunting knife, and trained to use it as a tool and weapon. At age twelve they receive a sword and bow, and are trained in the use of both. They are incredibly adept hunters, stalkers, fighters, and killers.

Training under the High Graf’s secret faction included advanced use of gunpowder weapons and all other Aleraran military technologies, as well as education in a variety of languages and socio political structures of various regions.

-Varied but powerful elemental magic
-Knowledge of a multitude of powerful spells

Inventory: Each Mikreshi Hunter carries the following:
-a prevalida Mikreshi sword in a black liviol sheath. The Mikreshi sword resembles a cross between a ninjato and a machete, ideal for close combat or clearing vegetation.
--clipped onto the outside of each sheath is what appears to be a black wooden chess piece; these are actually the Tap filters which allow the assassins to use magic safely despite the taint
-a curved prevalida hunting knife
-either a sunderbuss or a sidearm, made from titanium.
Sidearm: a recent development of Aleraran gunsmithing that came as a bonus when their spies stole the plans to Phyr Sa’resh’s sunderbuss. The sidearm is a 4-shot caplock revolver with a self-raising hammer and a reusable percussion cap; in other words it is a semi automatic weapon. Its weakness comes from the fact that it is loaded with paper cartridges containing ballshot, so getting it significantly wet may render it useless.
Sunderbuss: a brutal three-barrelled skirmishing firearm from the mind of Phyr Sa’resh. The top barrel is a rifled musket with a slide breech that fires ball shot from paper cartridges. It is effective up to 200-300 yards depending on conditions. The bottom barrels are paired, non-trumpeted blunderbusses. These are loaded through a collapsing breech in the stock, and sunderbuss soldiers carry both buckshot and incendiary breaching cartridges. The weapon’s main weakness is its weight, lack of maneuverability, and it also uses paper cartridges.
-Jointed full-body titanium scalemail, enchanted to be weightless and soundless
-Wristwatches which will function at high altitudes and underwater
