Name: Maximus
Race: Human
Age: 20
Eye color: Black
Hair color: Black
Height: 70.8 inches
Weight: 189 pounds

Appearance

When Maximus was transported to Althanas his physical appearance reverted back to what he looked like at his 20s. He is 70.8 inches tall. He is well built, with a broad back, prominent shoulders and bodily muscles. He has a shaved-clean face and short black hair. His eyes, though, retain that look that only those that have battled their way through life can show. This disparity between his young face and wise-looking eyes tend to isolate him from the rest. People simply can't get used to it.

Back Story

Maximus' life changed when he joined the Legions. You could say he was reborn. Following legion proceedings, a recruit was given a new name by the master-Sargent. This showed that it did not matter who you were or what you did before. When you become a legionary you become part of a new family. Prior attachments were succinctly cut. Or at least that's what supposed to be.

As it's natural with any human interaction, more often than not vices tend to permeate even the most basic of institutions. The Legions are, after all, another human creation. Maximus' family status, although relatively inconsequential all things considered, did gave him an edge. Military tradition dictated that only members of nobility could be assigned as officials, whereas regular citizens were assigned to the rank and file. Thus his career, or cursus honorum, as was known, began as a Legionary official.

From there he gained the respect of both his men and superiors alike for his superb skills in combat and what appeared to be an unparalleled military genius. His actions changed the course of his time, and he became loved or hated by many. Sometimes both.

But the truth is that his skills and uncanny wits in combat were really the consequence of a curse. A curse set on his family eons ago and which materialized in the shape of s sword. Considered a family heirloom, the sword was in fact both the vessel and the container of a powerful demon. By using that sword you gain access to amazing powers both active and passive, but not without consequences. The user would ultimately and inexorably become mad.

Maximus' in born natural resistance to the curse and help from people that loved and cared for him slowed the poisonous effects of the course. In the end, however, Maximus succumbed to the course.

His death, though, was not the end of him. For reasons that are of yet unknown he was transported to Althanas. He is not alone, though. His sword, Caligula, was transported with him.

Now he must first understand where he is and why he was transported here. Although his madness has receded to the state it was when he was 20, it only means that it will run its wild course again. Ironically, he does not know that he is becoming mad, and those that kept around him simply did not had the courage to tell him.

Now his isekai live begins.

Skills

Maximus has a set of passive skills that make him a rather dangerous opponent.

1. Madness. Maximus is mad. His madness becomes worst each time he uses his sword. Thus, his actions are not ruled by logic. The ground on which morality is built on is disregarded for whimsical demeanor. People can't make their minds about him. People fear what they can't understand, and that gives Maximus an edge.

2. Caligula. Whoever named Maximus' sword was not ignorant of the meaning behind that name. Caligula is a demon or god, depending on who is telling the tale. She was trapped inside the sword after she burnt an entire city just because she had gone bored of it. She is whimsically mad, and she knows it. To touch her is to bath in her hysteria. Her madness is a taint that consumes the user little by little.

Equipment

1. Sword. His sword is named Caligula. It is a 23.5 inch iron katana. The hilt is wrapped in iron wire and leather to provide a more balanced use. The scabbard is of solid black oak.

2. Legionary tunic. A red-dye wool tunic that covers chest and waist.

Hi Maximus, and welcome to Althanas!

I've just got a couple of questions for you with regards to your skills and abilities. Hopefully we can get you approved as soon as possible, but need clarification on the following:

The wording on the above looks fine but just wanted to confirm that the "edge" you refer to is more of a psychological edge, rather than a tangible buff or power-up? I'm sure that is what you meant, but just confirming for clarity's sake.

The wording on this is slightly more vague than the first skill. "To touch her is to bath in her hysteria" may be intended as a metaphor but it does read as if having physical contact with the blade would somehow have a physical effect on the user and also any other intended or unintended characters. Please can you confirm this? If so, it will have to be listed as an ability and would use up some of your allotted TPL. I would also then need further clarification as to how the ability would work, for how long, etcetera.

Thanks for the clarification, Maximus.

I have no problem approving the profile as it is, if that is what you would like me to do, but I would feel a little remiss if I didn't point out you are entitled to have more abilities if you want.

Please let me know if you’d like to consider adding more abilities, or whether you’d like me to proceed as you are.
