The World of Althanas FAQ

Here you can find answers to questions about how the board works. Use the links or search box below to find your way around.

Introduction to Quests

Quests, unlike battles, are not meant to be competitive. These are meant to be a story, written by one person (a solo) or multiple writers (in either a closed format or open format). A closed format means that writers have already agreed on who will participate and the thread is closed to outside entry. Open is the opposite, and means the thread is open to anyone.

Starting Quests

Starting a quest is as simple as starting a battle.

To start a quest, just post a thread in one of the Regions forums. Just like in a battle, indicate whether your quest is open or not, and if it is open, how many players you will allow in it. If you are interested in finding a partner before creating a thread, check out the Recruitment forum, or Althanas' Discord. More often than not, someone in there will be willing to write with you!

Finishing Quests

Like battles, quests are also submitted for review with the Judging Request Form (a link found at the bottom right hand side of your post).

Once the form has been completed, one of the Althanas moderators will score the quest according to the Judgment type selected and award each player a final score for the thread. EXP is awarded with the Althanas Quest Formula, which is based off of your score, your character's levels, the length of the quest, and the number of participants. Also,if your character gained any items during the quest (known as spoils), the moderator reviewing the thread will determine whether your character is allowed to keep them. If there is a reason your character may not keep the item(s) then an arrangement can be made to purchase them for use at the Bazaar with an applied discount for your efforts.

Search FAQ

Select this option if you would like your search to look in the text of FAQ items as well as their titles.

Select an option here to specify how you would like your search query to be treated. 'Any words' will return the most numerous but possibly least relevant results, while 'Complete phrase' will return only results that contain exactly what you are searching for.
