Personality:
Neutral Good. Van is a bright and outgoing individual, who wants to help others around him and make friends. Due to his powers, he tries to make sure that the people near him are happy.

History:

Van was one of two brothers involved in an … incident. Before the incident, he and his brother were lazy reprobates that used their minor powers to extort the town they lived in and skate by in life. Little more than thugs, the duo cared for little except themselves.

After the incident though, both brothers changed drastically, for similar reasons. Van’s change was more intense than his fraternal twin brother’s though: While he doesn’t know the extent of what happened with his brother, as they haven’t gotten deep into details about it, both had a similar experience. Memories of a past life, triggered in a specific situation, filled them.

Van though, had more than just the memories of the past life come to him. His past life came over him fully, the personality and life experience of who he had once been overwhelming who Vanatul had been before. This person was a far different individual from the original Vanatul Olomis who had been going through life - where the first Vanatul had been lazy, conniving and a grifter, the new Van was, for lack of a different word, noble.

This has had two results: Firstly, that Van is a wildly different person. While he does retain some vestiges of who he once was, the older life has completely overtaken and made him a brighter person. The downside is he remembers very little about the world around him, often times relying on his brother for aide.

Appearance:
Van stands at roughly five feet and eleven inches, and tends towards lean, muscular toning to his body. He has dark brown hair and hazel eyes that lean more often towards brown than green. He and his brother Thaelis are fraternal twins, rather than identical twins, so the two have not had to worry about trying to mark themselves to stand apart. He prefers simple clothes, wearing leathers from creatures that he has killed himself over fancier attire.

Skills:

Leather Work:

Van is adept at working raw hide into usable products. From obvious applications like making simple clothing, to more difficult uses like making water bags and even braided leather whips. He also knows how to make the chemicals necessary to tan said hides into workable leather.

Archer:

Van, like his brother, received training from one of the town guard when he was growing up. His training however focused on archery - while not the world's greatest archer, he is reasonably adept at it. He prefers mid-range shooting to long though, as when targets get past a certain distance he struggles to hit them precisely where he intends to.



Abilities:


Fire Control:

One tree of Vanatul's supernatural abilities. Life is heat and warmth, life is fire.

Strike the Flame:

Van's initial ability, this allows him to ignite a small flame. The flame is a simple, normal fire, and unless he creates it on a fuel source it will only last a few seconds at most. Additionally, he can only create this flame within two feet of himself. This usage of his power is fairly simple, and he can use it as many as seven times in a day.

Flame Burst:

A far more aggressive application of his initial ability, Van creates and enhances a 'ball' of flame above one shoulder. The flames of this orb are a dark red, and small 'tails' start to drift out from it. He can then launch this orb at a target up to fifty yards away from himself. This ability is far more taxing on Van's reserves, and he can only manage it three times in a day.

Empath:

Vanatul's second branching power. Life is emotion and energy, and he can feel that.

Heart's Sense:

Like noise pressing in, washing over and crowding him, Van can feel others' emotions. While generally he can only sense these other emotions when he is within ten yards or so of another person, especially powerful emotions can be felt up to twenty yards away. He can always tell that these are not his own emotions, but even with that knowledge he still experiences an 'echo' of that emotion himself. Inhuman or animal emotions are even further muted, as his mind lacks a proper 'frame of reference' for the emotion he is encountering. This ability is passive.


Equipment/Weapons:


Oak Bow:

A simple oak longbow. Unstrung, the bow stretches to five feet tall, and can be used as a staff if necessary. Not the best wood for a bow, but not the absolute worst either.

Wood and Iron Arrows

Little more than branches of oak, whittled down and capped with iron and fetched with whatever feathers that Van had on hand that worked best. Far from works of art, they work and that's all he cares about.

Leather Jerkin

A simple leather tunic, slightly reinforced with extra layers of leather over the chest. Made by Vanatul himself, it is well fitted to his frame.
