Personality:
Jon is usually a pretty jovial fellow. Quick to laugh and crack jokes (even when it might be less than appropriate) he's the kind of guy who generally likes to roll with the punches and look on the bright side of things. The exception to this is when he is on the hunt. He takes his hunts very seriously, often researching his prey before hand and planning out his kill. Once the kill is made he goes right back to his usual jolly, self. His language can be a bit crass at time and he's not above the use of vulgar, violent or sexual language. This becomes doubly true when he's been drinking which he often enjoys doing. Ever since serving the rebellion he's had a bit of a hard time sleeping and has become prone to nightmares. He's an extremely light sleeper. When he's partially asleep or if suddenly woken up he will often become extremely anxious or paranoid for a few moments until he can calm himself down.
History:
CP 1790
Jon is born the illicit son of a married nobleman and a red headed prostitute named Felicity Firecracker. The nobleman wanted nothing to do with the baby as it would ruin his marriage and reputation and the madam that ran the brothel forced Felicity to give the child away to an orphanage in Radasanth as she believed having a baby around would be bad for business.
CP 1797
Seven year old Jon is adopted by Timothy Fox, a butcher and his wife, Lucile Fox, a baker, who are unable to have kids of their own. He is immediately given the surname Fox. Over the next several years they would teach young Jon how to cook, instilling in him a love of food that persists to this day as well as provide him with basic schooling. Timothy, who was also an avid hunter, would teach Jon how to hunt as well. Tim and Lucile would eventually adopt of a few more of Jon's “siblingsâ€.
CP 1807
By age 17 Jon was growing restless and like many youth at the time, he was not particularly fond of the Empire's harsh rule or their old ways of thinking. Not wanting to live the boring yet peaceful life of a butcher or a baker, he decided to sneak out of the city and enlisted in the Corone Rangers. So as not to risk being branded traitors of the Empire, Jon's family claimed that he had wondered into the forest and never returned. Most people who knew them simply assumed the young man had been killed by beasts or rebels.
CP 1814
While escorting a lumber caravan through the forest, Jon overheard one of the lumberjacks ask “So what ya think dragon meat taste like?†This seemingly nonsensical question sparked a whirlwind of ideas in his head. Later that night, after passing a couple of bottles of whiskey around the camp fire with his fellow rangers he came up with the idea for what would surely be his magnum opus. A book containing recipes for all the rarest and most exotic meats Althanas had to offer. He'd come up with a title for it later.
CP 1815 (present day)
Jon requested and was granted his release from the rangers so that he could start on his adventure and begin work on his book.
Appearance:
Jon is a rather unassuming looking individual. He has dull red hair, which he usually keeps cut short, and brown eyes. He usually sports a Van Dyke style goatee. His build is lean as you would expect of a soldier but he's not particularly ripped although he does have some good muscle definition in his arms and legs. He has a roughly hand sized symbol of the Corone Rangers tattooed in dark green ink on his right side where his rib cage is.
Skills:
Archery: Jon is a good archer, capable of reliably hitting a man sized stationary target from about 50 yards away in good conditions. Even in poor conditions or against moving targets he can still hit what he's aiming at most of the time though his accuracy obviously won't be nearly as pin point.
Cooking: Jon is an above average cook. He's familiar with a wide variety of ingredients and cooking techniques and knows how to competently skin, clean and butcher most common food animals.
Wilderness survival: Jon can competently survive out in the wild. This includes knowing how to set up camp, make fires, hunt game, and forage for food as well as what to do if he becomes hurt or sick out in the wild.

Magical Abilities:
Night vision: A spell Jon learned while in the rangers, when cast it allows the user to see in the dark as if it were illuminated clear as day. This spell lasts approximately 8 hours and cannot be cast again while active. If used twice in a 24 hour period it can cause blurred vision and if used 3 times this spell will cause temporary blindness.
Leave No Trace: Another spell Jon learned while serving, this spell completely silences the user's foot steps and prevents them from leaving foot prints, even in muddy or sandy terrain. This spell lasts 8 hours. If used twice in a 24 hour period it will cause intense pain in the feet and legs. If used 3 times in 24 hours it will cause temporary muscle paralysis in the feet and legs.
Non Magical Abilities
Healing salve: A simple salve made from ingredients that can be found in almost any environment. When applied directly to the wound it can heal small cuts and bruises and on larger ones it can temporarily stop the bleeding and prevent infection. Jon typically carries just enough of the stuff for it to be used once per day.
