Mayhem in White [Shinsou Level 15]

Updates or changes from last approved workup in red.

    [CHANGELOG from Level 14 update]

    -Fucking everything

    Name: Shinsou Vaan Osiris
    Gender: Male
    Age: 34 years old
    Race: Telgradian
    Eye Color: Gold
    Hair color: Brown
    Height: 6’0”
    Weight: 155lbs
    Alignment: Neutral
    Personality

The years and trials they brought have moulded Shinsou into something much more formative than his younger self. A philosophical and intelligent man, he is strikingly calm and calculating, being able to think and talk through most problems. The sheer power he commands (both physically and as co-leader of the Brotherhood) has given the Telgradian an unprecedented confidence, but he still displays a certain level of fear of the power wielded by a handful of individuals on Althanas. Amongst those that he truly respects, and sometimes fears, are Joshua Cronen, Storm Veritas and Philomel Van der Aart.

His relationship with Storm Veritas has been central to not only the Brotherhood's survival, but also his personal development. Even though the siege of Radasanth ended without the desired results, the Brotherhood they built still exists and their continued partnership ensures that the organization, and their friendship, endures beyond the armistice signed with the assembly.

Recently, Shinsou's focus switched from conquering Corone to finding and annihilating Arius Mephisto; a former right hand man of his who betrayed the Brotherhood and attempted to assassinate him. Such is the level of anger at this turn of events that Shinsou can no longer commit to any other task, prioritising Arius's death or capture above all else.

    Weapons

    Enpera

    Name: Enpera
Type: Iai Sword (modified Katana with no curve)
    Material: Prevailda
    Quality: Masterwork

Enpera (previously named Kadingar at level 14) was re-forged by Shinsou Vaan Osiris in the hellscape of Telgradia's underworld after the events of The Redemption of Tylmerande. Incorporating a special metal into its design, Enpera is comprised of a Prevailda compound that has not only strengthened the blade, but also Shinsou's spiritual connection to the weapon. The hilt is comprised of a traditional feudal grip, wrapped in black and gold cord, and the blade's metal is tinted slightly golden.

So fine is the cutting edge of the blade that each swing emits a light note, and this has caused many to believe that the Raiaerans (famous for their enchantments) were involved in its design, although this is untrue.

    Enchantment:

Once per thread, for a duration of four posts, Enpera allows Shinsou to draw on the sword's power and enter an enhanced state of being.

In this state, Shinsou's reactions are enhanced to 6x that of a normal human, for four posts. This allows him to process information much more quickly, allowing him to react to events much faster than his base self.

Once Shinsou's berserk state ends, the Telgradian spends the next in-character post in a state of debuff. His reactions fall to HALF of that of a normal human.

    Abilities

    Spirit Sense
Shinsou is able to detect the presence and strength of living or un-dead people that he has already met, either through exposure to flesh or magic. The stronger the person, the further away he can detect a presence. He is able to distinguish which power signature belongs to whom.

    Dark Matter (Mastered)

The Dark Matter projectile is a staple of Shinsou's magical arsenal. Within his palms he can create basketball sized orbs of this highly unstable dark magic and throw them at high speed. On impact, each orb implodes with such gravitational force that each can tear apart concrete and metal (up to prevailda strength) within a twelve foot spherical radius.

This ability can be used four times a thread.
    Enpera Kurohitsugi (Full Power)

After years of training, Shinsou has finally managed to perfect his original Enpera Kurohitsugi technique. This new iteration of his deadly barrage spell involves the Telgradian opening up a thirty foot wide, wall-like expanse of void behind him and summoning up to thirty dark matter spears from it. On command, Shinsou unleashes the spears upon his opponents (either individually, in small batches or all at once). The spears do not implode on impact, but are extremely powerful and can tear through even prevailda armour.

This ability can be called upon once per thread and remains in effect until all thirty spears are expended from the portal, which can be opened and closed at Shinsou's whim.
    Seal Break

In order to protect Shinsou from excessive power drain, Enpera's true form remains constantly sealed. Once Shinsou utters the command "Break", this seal is broken. Shinsou CANNOT access abilities marked as "Hakai" without FIRST performing this ritual.
    Hakai: Enpera Asurendo

By concentrating an intense amount of dark matter energy into Enpera and touching the blade’s tip against the ground, Shinsou can rend parts of the earth ahead of him up to a distance of forty feet away. This creates a “line of sight” debris field of jutting rocks sharp enough to stab an opponent from underneath, at worst, or destabilise them at best.

Shinsou can use this twice per thread, once Enpera has been unsealed.
Hakai: Rift of Atonement (Enpera Shinohaya)

Once per thread for a duration of four posts maximum, Enpera taps into the absolute extent of its power to create a reality marble. This is a world separated from Althanas, contained within its own dimension. Anything that happens inside this dimension does not affect the physical world of Althanas itself, but anyone who is injured or dies within the marble also suffers the respective consequences in reality.

On top of unsealing Enpera, Shinsou has to use a further incantation to invoke Enpera Shinohaya. It is close to a "Ten-Count" aria, using a poem about the caster as the basis, a powerful elegy in Shinsou’s case. The lines of the incantation can be said at any time without requiring preparation, and Shinsou is able to stop between lines to speak and then resume without issue.

Once the incantations have been completed, an illusionary light spreads out from beneath Shinsou’s feet to form a boundary and wall for the reality marble. Bright light momentarily fills the vision of those present, and manifests an open, barren desert with monolithic crystal pillars reaching endlessly into the sky. In the distance, ruins littered with thousands of smaller crystal shards can be seen.

The basis for the world in the reality marble is an apocalyptic version of Shinsou’s homeworld, Telgradia.

As long as Shinsou is fighting within the reality marble, an opponent's stamina will drain over time and will transfer to the Telgradian to empower him. He gains the following buffs on each CONSECUTIVE post within the marble:

    Post 1: 2x Speed, 2x Endurance
    Post 2: 4x Speed, 4x Endurance
    Post 3: 6x Speed, 6x Endurance
    Post 4: 8x Speed, 8x Endurance

The opponent suffers a debuff as follows:

Post 1: A quarter of CURRENT speed and strength deducted
Post 2: Half of CURRENT speed and strength further deducted
Post 3: Three quarters of CURRENT speed and strength deducted
    Post 4: No effect

The Rift of Atonement can be escaped by destroying four crystal pillars that extend out into the sky. These are the magical support columns for the reality marble, and require a weapon of Prevailda strength or above to destroy. The pillars themselves can also be destroyed with equivalent strength magic.

The Rift of Atonement can be prevented by disarming Shinsou, as he must be holding Enpera to activate it.
    Hakai: Aura Break

Once per thread, Shinsou can negate the effects of a single magical spell or physical attack. Enpera will smother him in an aura of Dark Matter that solidifies into a crystal as hard as adamantine. Once the attack hits, the membrane of the crystal will shatter and Aura Break will be unusable for the rest of the thread.
    Hakai: Shadow Scribe

Shinsou can quickly inscribe his personal seal on any surface using Dark Matter. Once per thread, he may phase out of the physical plane and re-appear where his seal was inscribed. The seal glows with a purple light once inscribed, and can be destroyed / nulled with even the slightest physical or magical contact.
    Background:

Early years and the Telgradian Civil War

Shinsou Vaan Osiris, a Telgradian was believed to have been born in the Outer Territories of the Planet Telgradia in year 515 and studied under a number of different Telgradian masters as a student of the elite Council of Five, a powerful warrior force that protected the Telgradian Royal Family, with the sole intention of being Telgradia’s finest warrior. His biological father, Telos Soltair, was one such master. During his upbringing he became fast friends with a fellow student named Jaeger Keats, who with Shinsou (known at that time as Atlas Revaan) graduated from the Telgradian military academy with the highest honours. The young Shinsou became a respected commander of a Telgradian division and was a vocal critic of the Council of Five's inactivity in the ongoing war between the nations of Telgradia and the Kratas Outlands, home to the Jal Shey sect. This criticism stretched to fury when Telgradia’s princess Rhovani, Shinsou’s love interest, was kidnapped and taken by the Jal Shey to the Kratas Outlands without meeting the slightest bit of resistance.

Choosing to go against the Council’s wishes and wanting to wait no longer to take action, the now powerful Shinsou gathered a small, ragtag guerrilla force together in defiance of the overwhelming Jal Shey numbers and waged a relentless campaign against the Kratas Outlands. However, when Shinsou eventually defeated the Jal Shey lords at the Battle of Gaus VII in Telgradian year 535, he and his friend Keats followed the trail of a mysterious dark influence to the far reaches of Kratas. Here, the two discovered a reconstituted Jal Shey Empire and learned of four great powers that had been controlling events from the very beginning; Temperance, Hierophant, Chariot and Justice. Temperance, being the most powerful of the four great lords, had devoured Rhovani’s soul after needing a source of energy to continue to live. As Shinsou arrived at his temple, the Telgradian could only watch as the remnants of his love were scattered like ash into an abyss by the terrible beast. A chaotic battle ensued that destroyed Temperance’s temple, but even with Shinsou’s full power he could not match the beast’s supernatural abilities. Temperance saw the power that Shinsou possessed and chose to take possession of his and Jaeger’s bodies to further the Jal Shey goals. Both men were forced against their will to betray Telgradia, declaring themselves Emperor and Servant to the new Jal Shey Empire and declared war against the Royal State of Telgradia and the Council of Five.

Sent back to Telgradia as Temperance’s agents of death, the newly anointed Emperor Shinsou Vaan Osiris (having discarded his old moniker of Revaan) and Keats broke the ranks of the Telgradian forces with relative ease. However, a matter of miles from Telgradia’s capital city, Garah, Shinsou and Keats were separated. All five members of the Council of Five appeared to stop the possessed Shinsou from obliterating the capital, Telos Soltair included, and after a gruelling battle Shinsou was subsequently captured and sentenced to imprisonment in the high security facility Kokushi for his crimes. The Telgradian, considered too powerful and dangerous for a normal incareration, was also sentenced to a process known as razing – used only on the most violent and profound of criminals – which strips the soul of an offender from their body completely and imprisons it inside a crystal artefact known as a Pillar. His body was then cleansed over a period of three years and Shinsou’s mind, along with Temperance’s influence, was eradicated.

The Council of Five believed that was the end of Shinsou.

The Gnarled Roots of Osiris (click to read)

With his memory wiped, three years later Osiris was visited by the Council of Five commander, Dxun Ra, at Kokushi’s most secure level. As the captain-commander released the seals on Shinsou’s body, the Telgradian remarked that he recognised the magic that Dxun had used to release him. Intrigued by how Shinsou was able to remember anything at all, Dxun Ra promised that they would meet again soon and left him in the hands of Kokushi’s guards and the lower Telgradian Council. Now restored to the name of Atlas Revaan and unaware as to his previous identity, Shinsou was summoned by councillor Flexton Ra for an important mission that the Council of Five wished him to undertake. After leading Atlas to believe he had been a heroic general who had fought Shinsou Vaan Osiris’s empire before being gravely injured and had been “healing” in Kokushi, Flexton told the man that, overnight, the Pillar artefact containing Shinsou’s original soul had been stolen and he wanted Atlas to retrieve it. Reluctantly, Atlas agreed to the mission, which lead him to once again, unknowingly, cross paths with his old friend Jaeger Keats (now a member of the Telgradian Royal Guard and still under Temperance’s influence).

After cryptic meetings with Keats, and with Atlas becoming more suspicious of his own identity, the mission proceeded as planned. Atlas Revaan and a prison guard that included Gnarloc within its ranks landed on Althanas, where the Pillar of Osiris had been tracked. It was then that Jaeger Keats appeared and revealed his true colours to Atlas, bringing with him both the head of Atlas’s murdered commanding officer General Osho and the Pillar of Osiris. In a flash, Keats used the pillar to restore Shinsou back to his “original self”.

With his memory somewhat restored, Shinsou initially appeared to be his old self. Recognising the fortress they were in as the one containing the legendary Cartographer (a building containing the seal of Temperance, who had lay dormant since Shinsou’s incarceration), the Telgradian revealed himself to be free of Temperance’s influence and now instead turned on Keats, who was attempting to convince Shinsou to help him revive Temperance and lay waste to Telgradia once again. Shinsou’s refusal led to the former allies duelling and, after intervention by Gnarloc, the Telgradian succeeded in killing his former right hand man. This chain of events helped to shape Shinsou to be something encompassing both of his identities and, with his business concluded and no further desire to return to his home planet, the Telgradian began to settle on Althanas, making the restoration of his mostly sealed power his top priority.
    Recent History

The following is a summary of key threads in Shinsou's journey since arriving on Althanas.

Awakening after a three year imprisonment in Telgradia's most secure prison, Atlas Revaan becomes entangled in a plot to obtain an artefact for the Council of Five that would prevent the return of the infamous Shinsou Vaan Osiris. After being led by Jaeger Keats to the Cartographer library on Althanas, Atlas discovers that he, in fact, is actually Shinsou Vaan Osiris and that his memories were stripped from him in an effort to convert him back to Telgradia's whims. Deciding to take his life into his own hands and refusing to rejoin Jaeger Keats or return to Telgradia, Shinsou kills Jaeger and leaves Telgradia for good.

Telos Soltair, Shinsou's father, and the rest of the Council of Five deliberate on Shinsou's recent defection to Althanas. Meanwhile, Shinsou finds himself rueing his lost powers and hires a former ranger called Bane for protection until they return to him. Bane's former guild, the Kinshara Assassin's Guild, send men to kill Bane after he dishonourably leaves the order and Shinsou is caught up in the battle, showing his prowess even despite his lost powers. Once the battle is done, Shinsou decides to re-forge his sword, Enpera, in an effort to regain some of his lost abilities.

    Just a few quick questions:

Does the Kadingar blade have any special abilities? You say it is like molten glass, but does this mean it burns when it touches others, or can melt through objects?

For your fireballs, could you suggest how powerful an explosion they might be? Say, they do a foot of damage etc.

Could I also get an idea of how hot the fire is? Does it cause major or minor burns?

The same sort of question please for Seraphim's light energy.

Hey Phi. Thanks for getting to this so quickly.

For simplicity, this is simply a prevailda strength sword that can cut through materials weaker than prevailda. Everything else is cosmetic.

For your fireballs, could you suggest how powerful an explosion they might be? Say, they do a foot of damage etc.
Sorry, I should have clarified this. At its fullest charge, one of the fireballs will be the size of a basketball and have the equivalent area of effect of around six foot, which is around that of a hand grenade. It's weakest charge produces no explosion at all.

Could I also get an idea of how hot the fire is? Does it cause major or minor burns?

The same sort of question please for Seraphim's light energy.
Ardor's Flame (weak charge) - Minor burn
Ardor's Flame (medium charge) - Moderate burn
Ardor's Flame (Full charge) - Moderate burn and concussion damage from explosion

Ardor's Rain - Same as weak charge Ardor's Flame as the indivudual projectiles are smaller.

Ardor's Pandemonium - Severe burns if direct contact is made.

Seraphim's Light - No burn as it is purely a concussion spell.

I'll make the appropriate edits if you agree the above is within my PL.
