The first round matchups were assigned by a truly random process, a process that can be affirmed as random by Sighter Tnailog. He assigned the teams random numbers, and then I read off numbers as they appeared in a string of randomly generated ones (the generator used was www.random.org). I told these numbers to Sighter, and he told me which teams corresponded to those numbers.
