Appearance: Gwywir appears every inch the soldier of fortune. When not expecting combat, he wears a black silk coat, decorated with scrollwork of thread of gold across the chest, sleeves, and lapels. The coat is done up by six gold buttons. The tail of his cloak flares slightly at the waist, and hangs to the knees. He wears trousers, also of black silk and decorated down the outside of each leg by thread of gold, tucked into knee-high black boots of soft leather. Atop his handsome head and shoulder-length black hair he wears a remarkably simple hat, whose wide brim is quite floppy.
When he does expect combat, he wears a suit of scale armor that protects his entire body. Each scale is shaped similarly to a dragon’s scale, but is much smaller in proportion. The armor covers torso, thighs, upper arm, and lower arm. Each piece of the armor is attached through a series of leather straps. His hands are protected by leather gloves, and upon his shoulders are full pauldrons. His helmet is an open-faced barbute. Over the pauldrons he wears an ankle-length cloak of wool.
Personality: At first impression, Gwywir appears an honorable man. The kind of man who would duel another to protect the honor of a slighted friend. He bears himself surely, chin held high, with long, fast strides, and speaks clearly and surely, holding eye contact with whoever is speaking. As you get to know him, he shows his ability to, guiltlessly, fight dirty, throwing elbows and kicks, to keep himself alive. With his skill in the arts martial and arcane comes a certain amount of cockiness, but it is not overbearing. He also considers himself handsome, with good reason. He has an appreciative eye for women, but will not stare or leer, and will not chase after them.
Skills and Abilities:
Skills: His senses are keened because of his magical ability, and from being a golem. Because of his origins, his strength and speed are augmented, making him about two times stronger and faster than a normal human.
Abilities: Weapons: Gwywir has trained with several different blades, including the longsword, shortsword, rapier, and claymore, but has the most skill with a backsword. His skill with the others varies slightly, but pale in comparison with the backsword. Gwywir is skilled in throwing knives, and fighting with daggers. He augments his fighting style by using a shield.
Magic: Gwywir was given the ability to cast by his creator. When he begins storing magic, his eyes glow. His spells are made and guided by simple thought, no use of elements, and are created through energy stored in his body, or elsewhere. Through physical contact, Gwywir can absorb energy from a person, a particularly hot rock, etc. However, the absorption process takes time, and leaves him vulnerable to attack. He also cannot cast a spell while absorbing energy because the process requires thought to draw the energy. To absorb a noticeable amount of energy from something that was not designed for such a process can take up to five minutes.
Spells: Gwywir's spells are created and guided by his own thought. There is no drawing upon materials in the ground or air, only energy he has within him. The spells he casts do what he wants, for as long as he wishes them, but as time goes on, the spell draws more and more energy, and weakens itself or him. Also, the magnitude of a spell determines its time in existence.
Equipment: Gwywir’s blade, Cruas, is an ornate backsword. The hilt is worked with silver, and wrapped with gold wire and strips of high quality leather. The basket guard is also worked in gold, and in its center is a large ruby. The blade, single-edged and slightly curved, is highly polished, and decorated with a slightly foggy-looking layer of scrollwork. On either side of the blade, near the hilt the blade’s name is inscribed into the steel. The blade has a vampirific property; it absorbs blood, and stores the energy of it into the ruby in the basket hilt. With Cruas, Gwywir uses a kite shield that protects him from eyes to ankles when held in his battle stance. Gwywir also carries several daggers, properly balanced for throwing, but also long enough to use in hand-to-hand combat.
Special Equipment: Gwywir carries several orbs of thick glass. When thrown, they explode, and a mix of chemicals in the orbs come into contact with the air, and creates either a bang and a flash, or a cloud of smoke.
