Personality: Aptly nicknamed "Kingmaker" by his rivals, Amdal is a ruthless killer for hire and has made his blood money off the murders of those at the height of power. Being well-practiced at his grim profession having done it for well over thirty years, Amdal is methodical in his killings and known quite well for his ability to have pulled off some of the most impossible jobs with only the necessary equipment. Foremost, Amdal is a sociopath and has little regard for human life so long as it earns him an extra crown. His entire personality is guarded and an air of mystery, and in fact his very name has become the very air of fear to anyone who knows his bloody history.

Amdal isn't cocky and he rarely overplays his hand by always performing a job well within his means. To know of this cold-blooded hitman and his extensive records in the annals of most major law enforcement agencies is one thing, but to be hunted by him is quite another. He is very intelligent and very aware of his presence as an assassin, nowadays using the psychology of his namesake and appearance to do most of the work for him.

Appearance: Nobody has ever seen Amdal's face and has either never known it or not lived to realize it. For the record, the man still looks to be well within his prime for somebody cresting the age of fifty. Outside of his mask he bears pale green eyes and a gray mane that frames much of his face. Amdal looks to be about ten years younger then he actually is and that is much to his credit for keeping up on maintaining his physical and mental edge. He has a broad, short build and it is often common for others to stand taller than he does but it is usually clear that he can hold his own.

Amdal is strangely of Skavian birth but maintains an almost perfect Coronian accent that indicates he must have spent much of his life outside of Salvar. He possess all the common features of that hardy race.

From the look of him, Amdal is formidable if you don't know who you're up against and down right deadly if you do. He usually changes his appearance by disguise depending on the location of his job, but he almost always wears the same thing to kill in. He wears a suit of treated and well-oiled leather that may look easily penetrable but has the structural strength of titanium. Along the ends of either forearm he has curved, black sword-catchers that are welded onto pieces of steel he can strap onto his arms at will. His clothes are very well-fit and kept up by a belt full of pouches. Over all of this he wears a jerkin that is so deep red that it is almost black to the naked eye. The substance it is made out of isn't known, but it is said that no man has ever been able to run Amdal through when he is wearing that jerkin. Well oiled and broken in leather boots complete the ensemble.

Hiding his face, Amdal wears a cowl and finally, his infamous mask. Made of a thick, specially-made porcelin it is white as bleached bone and ends towards the bottom of his nostrils. Red ribbons of what can only be guessed as war paint sometimes decorate the mask if Amdal is on a job within Salvar. His mask is his symbol and is something that is often recalled in historical texts as being the true source of his power and fear over others.

Amdal's weaponry usually varies depending on the job and he is known to improvise extensively depending on the kill. Typically he kills with long, curved daggers that is as sharp as a dragon's fang and can punch through plate armor as if the person were wearing lard. Otherwise, he'll rely on well kept pistols of unknown make.

History: Not really even sure if Svend Amdal is his actual name, many have called upon him to kill the prestigious and powerful. Whether they are a despotic dictator or an inspiring leader, Amdal has always been indifferent to his targets so long as the price is right. While much mystery surrounds this infamous assassin, Amdal has made a name for himself while continuing to do this brutal work for nearly thirty years. And that's just an estimate. His track record for jobs has attributed to some of the most pivotal and famous political assassinations across Althanas. His role as an assassin has given him a role in being a key part in the fall and rise of countries and it's leaders.

It still remains a fact that Amdal has never revealed his face to anyone under the assumed name of his alter ego and it is believed to be that his penchant for mystery and track record for some of the most brutal and efficient work has given him a very big reputation in the crime and political world. There is a feeling of icy fear attached to his namesake and while commonfolk often have to fear for their lives from every level of society, Svend Amdal has become the boogeyman for the rich and powerful.

Little is known about Amdal's upbringing and life outside of his work, other than he is strangely of Skavian birth and has frequented Corone given the rash of killings in the same fashion that is often his calling card for the last ten years. That is to say, those who die by his hand all have their faces painted white in the likeness of his mask, and if they are in Salvar, they bear the same scarlet tribal war paint he wears on his namesake while in the country. This has been occurring frequently within the last five years, which may be attributed to their Civil War.

Rumors have circulated of Amdal and his bloody legacy with such things like he keeps trophies to remind himself of his victims, he has never failed a job, and that there is a more supernatural mystique about him that he could be an incarnation of death himself. These claims are largely unsubstantiated, but have been used to promote the legendary fear that has followed him. The Kingmaker truly has become much more than a common assassin, and more like a symbol for coming change. A beginning or an end.

In all, Amdal is a master of unarmed combat, and even deadlier with a blade. He has learned fighting styles from all over the world and has seemed to have incorporated each of them into one of his own that allows him to take on ten or even twelve enemies at a time. It's assumed and been confirmed that he speaks many different languages given his need for travel, and that he is able to assume the identity of anyone that fits his need for the job. Truly, he possesses all the traits needed for a master assassin.

As a seasoned murderer-for-hire, Amdal has often done much of his work in Salvar by being contracted by the Church, Crown, and even the Noble Class to settle disputes amongst each other. His most frequent work comes from jobs on barons and eliminating their spheres of influence, but more often then not these are just the result of border wars between warring barons. He has made a fortune off of every side as they pick each other off, and has even been rumored to conduct high-profile kidnappings for triple his usual fee.

With all of this known, it's important to realize that Amdal has played a key role in Salvar's current civil war. Hired by the Clergy of the Church of the Ethereal Sway early on in the war, Amdal was contracted to kill the King of Salvar, King Iorlan Rathaxea I. While it is unknown what became of the King, it certainly explains his mysterious absence during the war while his legions of loyal nobles and soldiers fight on without him. Until the League's drastic turn of fortune after the Long Winter, it looked as if the Church was going to be able to take hold of the Crown's crumbling foothold on the country.

With that said, Amdal's presence in Salvar hasn't gone unnoticed. Having returned from his mission, whatever the outcome may have been, Amdal has steeped knee-deep back in the civil war where there are crowns to be made and blood to be spilled. As of now, Amdal has become a scourge of the League and has been picking off pivotal barons while they lead their armies across the steppes to the capital. While this was obviously under the employment of the Church, there have been rumors that the Vogruk-Stokes Trading Company has also been using him to rid them of coastal barons that are less sympathetic to their current projects along the Namirov Coast.

The Vagarand has now put a steep price on Amdal's head as they are under fire from every direction and it's clear that the assassin will strike at the very heart of their organization if given the means and the opportunity. For now, Amdal moves around the battlefield across Salvar and acts like an angel of death, killing indiscriminately and all in the name of money.

Known Equipment:

Amdal's Mask - The cornerstone to his reputation and namesake, this mask has become the assassin's very visage of a shadowy figure bearing a strangely bone-white mask. The mask extends to the end of the owner's nose and arches on either side down his jaw, framing much of his face. This mask is made of a peculiar mixture of porcelin and clay, and while seemingly fragile, it has the strength and durability of the densest of metal. While a work of craftsmanship, and seemingly without many otherworldly properties other than it conforms to the face to the one who wears it, this mask is sought after for it's psychogical power that almost borders on the supernatural.

When worn, the owner of this mask becames wrapped in aura of fear that strikes at the heart of his enemies. This fear will cause enemies to become far more likely to flee or fumble with their weapons when they are within line of sight of the person wearing this mask. While those of equal or greater level of the mask's wearer will be able to shake off it's affects more easily, the same cannot be said for those who are more than 3 levels below the wearer. They will become paralyzed with fear and unable to move for the duration this effect grips them.

Every post following the one in which an enemy has becoming snared by this fear, they will have a chance to fight it off. To do so, they must confront their deepest fears within their post and do so successful to break the chain. Afterwards, the enemy will become immune to the effects of the mask for the duration of the thread.

Morinand/Frejla - Both of Amdal's legendary blades. They are in fact elongated knives, each about 11'' in length and curving over the hilt like that of a dragon's claw. The metal it is made of is unknown, but either blade can punch through metal equivilant to prevalida in strength with ease. There are no magical properties to either blade.
