    Saint Denebriel

    Name: Saint Denebriel
Age: Roughly early thirties in appearance.
    Race: Human
    Hair Color: White
    Eye Color: Gold
    Height: 5'11''
    Weight: 142 lbs.
    Level 10

Personality: Having an obsession with her own divinity, Denebriel has bought completely into her own lie of being a God. Though her origins and intentions are a mystery, her mindset is not. Having a desire to be worshipped and revered by her followers, the Saint has spent much of her time trying to establish a cult of personality in order to create that ego for herself. With that in mind, she contains the entire God package. She has little tolerance for insolence, posesses a one-track mind and is completely self-centered. It is impossible to say which side of Denebriel you'll see when meeting her as she has developed a sort of cunning the famous and revered often do that allows herself to manipulate others by demogoguery.

While it is quite obviously a grim idea to be on her bad side, there isn't much to say for those who fall into her good graces other then they haven't been murdered yet. The only thing bigger then her ego is the Saint's unrelenting cruelty and with the power of a God, there is an infinite number of ways she can make those who displease her suffer.

Stepping outside of her immediate personality, Denebriel is both pompous and deliberate as a leader. She relies heavily on the Clergy to control the armies and to carry out her orders, but once she has made up her mind the world would have to end before she changed it. Interested more in her own power then that of her followers, Denebriel will not hesitate to throw those who worship her into the meat grinder if it were to benefit her. Truly, the only person who is safe from her wrath is Denebriel herself.

Appearance: Taller than most of her followers, Denebriel exudes a kind of radiance that inspires others to follow her, giving her the very appearance of someone of the utmost importance. Dressed in the finest of silks and wearing sandals of the best material, the Saint is scantily clad for a God. When looking at her, one will notice the ivory hue of her flesh and the aberrant gold colour of her eyes, distinguishing her from almost any living woman.

Her hair is oiled and her face looks to be emaculate for someone who looks to be cresting middle age, but as a god Denebriel is in sole control of how others perceive her. In the end, with cold eyes and a thin smile, the malevolent deity leaves a lasting impression on any who crosses her path.

History: Wrapped in a mysterious, bloody history, Denebriel has saw fit that much of her past be lost to the sands of time while she continues to rise to as a Godhead. Having obtained the visage of a God, the saint has sought to protect that image and there are few books that have been left unburned and those who possess an intimate knowledge of her that have not met a terrible ending. In it's place, however, Denebriel and her followers have established a sort of mythos about her and her rise to power, allowing the very name of the Saint to cow those who fall to her grace.

Aside from the propaganda, what is known about Denebriel has been collected by League spies over the course of the war. From what they've pieced together, this entire fight between the Crown and the Church has been engineered by Denebriel herself, and only since the start of the Long Winter has she finally come out in the open. Very few have gotten close enough to the would-be God to find out exactly what her plans for Salvar are, but the assumption has always been that her interests lied in dominion and power within the entire country. Which begs the question.

Why does a God need to control Salvar?

Truly, Denebriel must have darker, more sinister reasons for adopting this war and allowing it's countrymen to slaughter each other in her name. While many of the reasons have yet to be discovered and the yolk of which will have to be unearthed after the bloodshed. The fact remains, however, that unless stopped by someone whether it be the League or by the people of Salvar themselves, the country surely will fall into an age far darker and more bleak than anything they've experienced under the rule of tyrants.

    Skills:

    Traits:

Moment of Prescience - Whether her claims of communication with deific forces are true or not, one aspect of the Saint's power is quite apparent. She never seems to be surprised. She is possessed of perfect fore-knowledge of the first attack during an encounter that would cause her injury. This information comes to her with plenty of time to react or counter accordingly. Once battle is joined in earnest, this gift seems to abandon her.

Font of Life - The Saint fills the faithful around her with otherworldly vigor. Superficial wounds heal in mere seconds, while more serious ones knit themselves together in minutes. The Saint herself is not healed by this ability.

Reverence - Within a radius of 30 feet around the Saint is where her influence and will is at it's strongest and begins to manifest itself. For her followers, they all receive a 2.5x bonus to their attributes and possess an almost fanatical devotion towards her that they will actively sacrifice themselves to save her life. While those loyal to her get off easy with this grand form of manipulation, everybody else isn't so lucky. To everyone else who enters this radius, they are weighted down by an external force that could be construed as Denebriel's own will. Those caught in this snare will constantly struggle both mentally and physically if they continue to approach any closer. For those of weak mind and body, they will often be forced to their knees in supplication.

    Abilities:

Gripping Truth - Those who touch the Saint's uncovered flesh, willingly or unwillingly, receive a terrible revelation about themselves, their loved ones, or the world to come. The 'Truth' of these prophetic moments is subjective; their undeniable effect is to be paralyzingly horrible. She can actively attempt to inflict this pain on those who challenge her.

Forbiddance - The Saint may bind any one target in shackles of flickering light that hold the subject in place and prevent spellcasting. The shackles form slowly after a brief incantation by the Saint. Swift action to dispel them is necessary, including arduous physical or mental struggle or the casting of a darkness spell. If action is not taken, they can only be removed by the most powerful of magics or if the Saint chooses a new target for the effect.

One with Everything - Denebriel is able to transfer her very life essence into both friend and foe alike. Dispersing her very being quite literally through the battlefield, the Saint will be unable to die until everyone around her has perished. Those within a 200 yard radius of her once this ability is activated will be affected, allowing them to experience any wound inflicted upon the Saint upon themselves hereafter and will strangely share the remnants of some of her more powerful emotions. This ability comes at a high price, as the Saint must spread herself thin she can easily exhaust much of her power and energies while doing so, making this ability usable only once. This ability lasts for up to 4 posts.

Awakening - Tapping into the minds of up to three people, regardless of allegiance, Denebriel may take control of them both physically and mentally for 3 posts. With each person under her control, the need for concentration grows and thus the overall effect is watered down and becomes easier to fight off for those of fierce willpower. As a side effect, those touched by Denebriel's mind will have parts of their more primal and dormant parts of their body and mind unlocked while under her control. Because of this, those under Denebriel's control will receive a 2.0x bonus to their speed and strength as well as a deeper insight into their ancestors. When the connection between the God and her subjects break, however, these newly found powers will fall dormant once more.

NOTE: Those who are affected by Awakening will also fall under the positive effects of Reverence and Font of Life for as long as Denebriel retains control of them.

Of the Divine - As an ultimate display of her power, Denebriel possesses abnormal methods of persausion. As a God, she may shape reality to her will or so others would like to think. At the height of her power, anything the Saint says will be perceived as true by those who hear it, even if the mind of those affected have to make allowances for it. This gives the God an obscene amount of power and influence over her enemies, allowing her to essentially bend and manipulate reality for all but those of the strongest of will. This power is very potent but requires Denebriel to speak in order for it to work.

NOTE: An example. If Denebriel were to say that there was a pink elephant in the middle of the room and it fell in earshot of those around her, they would immediately see a pink elephant in the middle of the room as if it were there the entire time. It's a very confusing ability but dangerous if used correctly.

    Equipment:

Aegis - A gauntlet forged from an unknown metal with the strength of adamantine, it looks to be very old and an artifact found within the very depths of Berevar. It looks like polished silver in appearance and is etched with an archaic incantation along various parts of the guantlet. At the palm of the gauntlet is a large and oval orange gem that seems to glow when the artifact is activated. This gauntlet allows Denebriel to channel her supreme mental powers into physical force. This can be translated into telekinesis and a wide array of other abilities depending on how she chooses it to manifest.

Cthakal - An amulet of extraordinary and sinister power, it is an item often found in the pages of tomes concerning the occult and black magic making it all the more strange for it to be in the possession of a God. This amulet quite literally acts as a conduit of power for the wearer. The Cthakal will essentially link a person to whatever their source of power is and give them much deeper access to it. Typically, this was used by very powerful sorcerors in days of old when at the height of their reign, they'd transfer much of their power into a particular object and hide it after linking it to the Cthakal. While the practice has died out for thousands of years, it says a lot about Denebriel's age and hints at her past.

When wearing this pendant, Denebriel gains an almost inexhaustible access to power from whatever her true source may be. Whether she knows it or not, this untapped power is slowly but surely crippling her with it's potency, but in the mean time it makes her into a very powerful adversary. If removed, it certainly wouldn't remove her Godhood which must have been gained elsewhere, but would greatly diminish much of her influence and power as a Saint. The pendant is a stone of blackest colour and wrapped in a crude iron clasp. When staring at it, one feels a sudden sense of despair or loss as if they are staring into the abyss itself.
