I remember I made a guy with a bayonet that had a broken part. It would shoot with a wide range of inaccuracy. I think I did four of five quests that actually involved combat without ever hitting anyone with a single bullet.

I guess there's really no point nor any relevence behind this magical tale.

The rail gun incident was by far one of the funniest things that happened here.

Between Eric (hybrid), Madison (Sighter), and Frank (Leopold) they probably could have written a book on quantum physics with the argument that ensued.

Guns are important on Althanas, in moderation of course. One of the single most important character defining moments for Thoracis was getting shot in the head by Dirks in the LCC. I don't think that battle got to be a Judge's Choice without that moment.

I do enjoy watching people yearn for the good old days, which are always coated in a magical sheen of wonderfulness. I should start proposing that as a solution to all the forum's problems. Wait a few years. If anyone from now is still around, they'll wear it like a badge of honor and tell everyone that the forum used to be so fabulous.

[randomly tempting fate]In my RPs, it's basically been established that some of the orc city-states over in Kebiras have gotten all the way to repeating rifles more advanced than the firearms tech in Alerar, with (slightly clunky) magitech skyships to match. It'd be such an awful thing if they ever got unified enough to mount another attempted expedition to the western world of Althanas proper.[/randomly tempting fate]

Because we all know orcs can never outdo anyone at technological sophistication. Semiconstant warfare doesn't drive innovation at all!

I remember that way way way back when I first registered, I gave my character a gun and a sword. Everyone was way less anal retentive about that sort of shit back then; RevolverGate, which happened after mods made you choose between having a sword and a gun and guns were way more valuable and one dude chose a gun and then sold it to buy a Prevalida sword...Well, that was still years away. Anyway, back to my gun: I fucking forgot I had it until like three levels later.

I just want to point out, THIS is the main reason why guns were banned. Not because they're too powerful, just because they want starting packages to be roughly equivalent cost. After they were banned from level 0 profiles, mods eventually got to the point where they retroactively created the idea guns were too powerful.

I like the idea of guns in a fantasy setting, however if someone has a good gun and can shoot it accuracy and you have a sword, your pretty much screwed. I'd probably use some sort of deus ex machina to survive.

Maybe.... An NPC jumps out and asks for my autograph and gets hit in the back?
