    Anebrilith, Oldest City in Raiaera

Anebrilith is a seaport located on the easternmost edge of Raiaera. The city has at its back a system low foothills, across which lies Tel Moranfauglir, and on its forward-facing side is the sea. It is a sprawling city which spreads out from its walls in townships and hamlets that extend its furthest limits for miles. Within it is a palace, a replica of Velicë Arta, except that, in fact, the real grand palace was designed and built as a model on this palace. Although the one in Eluriand is larger and more ornate, it was inspired by this older structure in Anebrilith.

Anebrilith was the first city founded when the clan of elves known as Tel'Eldalië came from across the sea to settle. (Scholars will note that the proper name for Tel'Eldalië is Tel'Quessir, as Tel'Eldalië more aptly refers to all the elvish people living in all the known lands of Althanas. Tel'Quessir, on the other hand, refers to the elvish clan of Tel'Eldalië that first arrived in Althanas.) They stepped from their ship, Eledhwe, and claimed what they saw as the new elvish homeland.

And thus was Anebrilith born. Those first elven settlers were resilient and strong, and they had come prepared. They had brought livestock, grain, seeds, and all manner of necessities, and thus they were prepared to deal with most any trial. The milder climate in Raiaera also helped the elves in making a quick transition to their new home.

The city seemed to grow up from the countryside itself. In the small space between the beach and the foothills, arable soil enabled small farming endeavors and kept the budding township afloat. Fishing and mining formed the backdrop of this town, and for a time the town flourished.

Soon, however, the elves were forced to rediscover the ideas and weapons of war. These concepts had been left behind when they came, for they had no need of swords due to the peaceful climate they thought they had entered. But the Durklan people, who were men dwelling in and around the Red Forest, had become increasingly worried that the elves posed a threat to their livelihood. When the Elves made the mistake of sending a search party into the Great Forest, a sacred space for the Durklans. Without warning, the Durklans began to besiege the Elvish cities. For a few years, the Elves were on the brink of starvation.

The full story of this conflict can be found in the "History of Raiaera," a recent work by the chief historian of Raiaera. It is located in almost any bookstore.

And thus time passed, the elves spreading even further over the continent. In time, after the effort to build a new, centralized capital city of Eluriand, Anebrilith lost its status as the chief city of Eluriand...but it is assuredly the most historic.
