“Skargo is every axe swing, every torch set, and every transgression against our kind.”

    Alias: Shaman
    Gender: Male
    Race: Innari
    Height: 4’5”
    Weight: 90lbs
    Eye Colour: Brown
    Hair Colour: Black
    Religion: Shamanism
    Alignment: Chaotic
    Occupation: Shaman
    Intelligence: Average
    Literacy: Below Average

History: The Innari are an elusive race, born into the world of the primordial essences of nature itself, yet shying from life. Long have the people of Scara Brae scorned the devilish kin of Starr, and long have they misconstrued the primary concerns of the ‘goblin’ race. When their enemies consume the Thayne Skargo rages, against a misdeed on its heartland or people, the Innari’s urges, and they beat their war drums to the rhythm of Skargo’s heart, and wage war to vent his rage.

In contrast, when summer is high, harmony reigns, and the shamans of the Innari create great art, revel in song, and dance endlessly. In such a time, we find young Starr, a mere acorn compared to the venerable oaks of the Great Shamans. Born to the she-shaman Morelia over a century ago, he has spent his life under her tutelage and has witnessed war, wrath, and ruin. With her death, he has become Kaleen tribe’s Shaman, its wisent, its focus, in all matters asides war. That title belongs to Starr’s brother, the Warlord Kiwanis. The Kaleen dwell in the Brokenthorn around the foot of a poplar oak so tall it tower above all the others, and is thick enough to hollow out to live in. The tree stands at the centre of a wide meadow, with blossom and honeysuckle wrapped around its lower levels, and various semi-subterranean huts and enclaves scattered about it.

Starr’s chamber rests halfway up the trunk, and from his balcony and suspended wicker pods, he can survey his entire ‘domain’. In a swathe of incense and narcotic stupor, Starr has begun to see the same vision all Shamans are seeing. It is a simple dream, a wide meadow, and a cliff beyond separating land from sea. On the waves are great ships, wrought of pine and iron emblazoned with a red hand. On the land, the last hope of the island stands. A lone shaman cries with nothing more than a staff and a mushroom to stem the tide of war. This vision is nothing more than a portent of the next goblin ‘wilding,’ a period of turmoil in Innari culture when Skargo awakens – they must deliver a simple message with drumbeat and rage.

“Leave the woods, and the mountains, for they belong to Skargo and his children.”

Personality: Starr is young, and the vibrancy of his youth pours out like sunshine. The Kaleen love Starr, and he constantly looks for ways to improve his own ability to lead, and gain influence to further the tribe’s influence in the forest. He has never experienced love, as such trivial things often boil down to rampant mating during spring amongst the vast majority of the Innari. Love is no more than a bond to a soon dead corpse, or so the goblins perceive.

In times of trouble he is headstrong but often encapsulated by his own self-importance, delivering poignant speeches in equal measure to cumbersome and stupid decisions – hot-headed is more than just a pun in Starr’s case – his passion is his boon and curse, but his humour and enthusiasm are utterly contagious to all others. He is tentative and somewhat shy around non-Innari.

    Skills:

Healer: Starr can heal light wounds, all natural poisons, and most diseases found on Scara Brae if enough time and warning is given. He can use his knowledge of local flora to gather appropriate materials and turn them into medicines.

Tracker: Starr possesses an above average ability to track game, goblin, and ghost alike. He can determine how old tracks are, the direction, size, and species of the maker, and lay basic traps to catch food.

Knowledge (Flora): Starr is intimately acquainted with which flowers grow in the forest, and which are edible or poisonous. He can find, grow, and tend any variety of flora found on the island, and knows how to deal with the more carnivorous kinds.

Pacifist: Unlike his wild kin, Starr cannot take a life in anger. This does not stop him telling other people to do it for him, though. He can wield his dagger to a below average level, but it is purely for self-defence, and a feeble defence at that.

Abilities: Shamanistic magic does not work on the same principles as sorcery. In order to operate shamanic magic, one must be gifted with the focus to perceive the ‘other,’ the realm not entirely Fae and not entirely real. It is through drawing on the latent energies of both worlds that an Innari Shaman can create ‘spells,’ and through this dedication and unfaltering loyalty to Skargo, that he controls the Wilding.

Each shaman has a kith, a focus, and a drive. The kith is always an element. The focus is the primary manner in which the kith manifests, such as destruction, summoning, and illusion. The drive is usually the main method the magic forms with, such as vocally, or semantically, or with sacrifice. Starr does not have a drive, and thus gains no benefit in performing spells in a particular way (with consequence, detailed later).

Focus (Destruction): Shamans who possess the destruction focus typically like to blow things up, to vent their rage and anger in the form of fire, lightning or geomancy. As Starr’s drive is fire, his destruction skills develop in the typically manner of a pyromancer.

Conflagrate: Starr can create a flickering flame about his body. Anyone who touches it suffers minor burns. A wind/water spell or using ability extinguishes it. Once per thread, Starr can transfer the flame to an area he touches, covering one square foot with magical flame.

Devastate: Starr can project his kith as a projectile. He can create up to three fist-sized fireballs, which have moderate speed, no detection ability, and explode in a one-foot ball of flame with X1.5 strength per thread.

Focus (Divination): Abjuration bends reality to formulate a new tactical device in a shaman’s repertoire. At present, the focus of Starr’s Abjuration is to create illusory visions, and to protect or intimidate the Innari around him.

Precognition: Starr can create a pallid sphere around himself once per thread. The outer shell shows the past, the inside, and a probable future. It does not impede movement or protect Starr, and is a dangerous spell that can damage a shaman’s sanity.

Inspiration: By showing someone a prosperous future, Starr may compel another Ito complete a simple task. The target will receive an upgrade of one grade (adept to expert) to all associated skills. Player permission is required.

Outcast: Starr’s kith, focus and drive (the three core tenets that underpin a Shaman’s skills) are odd for an Innari. He possesses two focuses instead of a focus and a drive. The other shamans view this as inadequacy, but in fact, it is a gift. His shaman abilities are 10% harder to dispel. In return for this strength, all magic that strikes him in return has double the effect, and receives 25% damage boost.

Inventory: Starr possesses various trinkets, herb lore items, and domestic paraphernalia in his hut and observatory. He has everything he needs to imbue trances, heal light wounds, and operate in his religious functions as the tribe’s shaman. Items of note outlined below:

Iron Athame: Starr carries an iron ore athame with him at all times. It is masterwork by comparison to the crude tools scavenged and carved from the land by the rest of the Innari. He uses it in ritual, healing, and moments of survival. It carries the bloodstains of hundreds of goblins, and their respective rages and memories. It can cause blood poisoning if wounds fester.

Gnarled Staff: Each shaman of each tribe carries a gnarled staff. Each shaman decorates their staff with a variety of fetishes and trinkets, emblems unique to their culture and their own unique outlook on shamanism. Starr’s has black feathers, bones, and twigs, and is enchanted to heal any damage done to it in battle. He can also channel the forest’s energy with it, allowing him to slowly recover stamina and sustain his energy and hunger levels as long as it is touching the ground, and he meditates.

First, to clarify. This cannot be a level one profile, since you're not yet level one. I know the bar under EXP says that you're level 1, but it's an issue we have with the EXP bar which cannot display level 0. So you are still a little under 1500EXP away from level one.

Now, since this is a level zero profile, I need you to trim some abilities, as I can allow three at most. And while I will consider both Conflagrate and Devastate as a single ability because they can be bunched up as different uses of fire magic, Outcast, Inspiration and Precognition are all separate abilities. So you'll have to lose one.

Also, I don't like the utter invincibility of Precognition, even if it's for just one post. Can you change it to be able to resist a couple of reasonably strong attacks?

Lastly, I can't allow the complete irresistibly of his shamnistic abilities. You can get some greater potency to your abilities to penetrate resistances, let's say some 20% for now.

    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity."

    Hi Letho.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Apologies for the error, of course this is level one - didn't mean to mislead!

Would you allow the abilities to remain if I dropped the resistance to 10%, the damage modifier became 25% increase to anything that hit him, and I removed the protection part of Precognition altogether?

    That would suffice.
