The Irilien
Originally christened The Emperors Daughter this brig rigged schooner was never a work horse but a beautiful and noble ship that was a jewel of a Radasanth elvish merchant fleet. She was built to embody the elvish ideas of grace and speed, with a 57 foot long keel made of one solid piece of Rywan and ribbed and hulled Akashima redwood. She has a deep draft and a hull that is sharp below the water giving her as much grace as an antelope or a deer. Her main and mizzen masts both single spars the mizzen is one hundred fifteen feet tall with the main mast being ninety five feet. The main masts sail plan is a simple spar running the entire length of the mast with the top spar being half as long as the bottom the mizzen sail plan is similar with the spar sail running 3/4 of the length of the mizzen with a set of raffee topsails. The Irilien's sail plan is further rigged with jib and stay sails coming off of the bowsprit, main and mizzen masts. Each sail is made by an intricate weave of canvas and silk.
With all of her grace it is easy to assume that the Irilien has no teeth. Nothing could be further from the truth and any pirate that has such an idea as to try and take her as a prize will find out just how much of a fight she has. For the purpose of classification she is a twenty gun sloop of war armed with twenty, six pound cannonades with two long four pound stern chasers. With four one pound swivel guns mounted fore and aft port and starboard. To take advantage of the kind of speed and maneuverability a twelve foot long bow ram has been installed any ship looking to rake the Irilien's bow at pistol shot are gambling.
Of special note is the elvish enchantments on the entire ship. While like any other sailing vessel she needs wind to make her move it only takes the very slightest of breezes to get her to kick up a bow wake, and heel to the lee chains. In any kind of wind other ships will be very hard pressed to match her speed. In light airs she sails just as handsomely as if she was sailing with a full press of sails in a good strong wind.
