Sinovera had gone to bed that night thinking that it was just like any other typical night on her parent's farm. She would go to bed, and awake the next morning to the sound of the roosters call, and do her chores. What she hadn't known was that her life was going to tumble into chaos with no hope of being regained.

She had gone through that day, knowing that something was a bit off, but she all chalked it up to meeting a suitor that her parents had hand-picked for her. Her fifteenth birthday had been just a few days prior, and she was at the prime age now to be married off. He was one of the three sons of the Mayor that ruled the near-by town. Her parents hoped that the union would help their farm prosper even more than it already had. Being Drow farm-owners was not the safest thing to be, since many people hold resentment for their kind.

Throughout the day her nerves had been shot from the apprehension of meeting the man that would, most assuredly, be her future husband. There was to be a dinner at the Mayor's large estate, which would give her enough time to do her daily chores, then get cleaned up. She had been so nervous that she didn't think she would get a wink of sleep. Though when she fell into her feather-stuffed bed, and rested her head on the freshly laundered pillow, every single stress fell away from her and she fell into a deep and dreamless sleep.

As the night progressed, and she softly snored in her warm and comfortable room, she was dead to all noise. Surely not even the morning call of the rooster would wake her. She didn't wake as the back door creaked to their large farm, nor did the soft footsteps of leather boots walking on the stairs and down the hallway wake her. She didn't even wake to the sound of struggling just a few rooms away from where she slept.

What finally stirred her was a strange feeling of being watched that pierced through the veil of sleep. She sleepily opened her drowsy eyes to find dark brown ones staring into her own silver eyes. She stared at them for a moment, thinking nothing of it from the throes of sleep, but soon her entire body lit up with fear and she jumped back, nearly falling out of her bed.

Adrenaline rushed through her body as she stared at the dark man before her, still bent over to be eye level with her. His face held no emotion except for the glint of something feral behind his eyes. She had been transfixed to see what lay behind them until she heard muffled cries coming from the foot of her bed. Her head snapped towards the foot of her bed, only to find that her parents had been bound and gagged, and were being forced to kneel at the foot of her bed. They stared at her with worried expressions.

Then she noticed the men in the room, and counted seven of them. Two of them stepped forward to bring a stinging slap across her parents faces to shut them up and they both nearly toppled over with the sheer force.

“Mom! Dad!” She cried as she attempted to jump from her bed to run to them. Her efforts were quickly abolished by the dark man who threw her back on the bed and jumped on top of her. He held her arms down and pressed his body against her own, staring into her eyes calmly.

“If you attempt to go to them again, little one, I swear that I will deflower you right here.” His face was just bare inches away from her, and his hot breath was in her ear, making goosebumps raise on her skin. He pulled away to look her in the eye again, and Sinovera could swear that they were now green, and something was almost moving behind them. Like a wolf in a cage, just waiting for the moment to tear the throat out of its captors.

She laid there, her body frozen in fear, and her eyes locked with his. She was transfixed and she couldn't look away. As she stared into his eyes she felt something within herself that she had never felt before, and she watched as his nostrils flared and he took in a deep breath. His face cracked in a feral grin for a moment.

“You're perfect.” He said, staying there for a few more moments, looking as if he wanted to do something. Though before he acted upon it he pushed himself from the bed and took a few steps away. He put a hand up to his head as he shook it. Then the calm expression came back with a vengeance. He stood up straight and straightened the studded leather shirt he wore before taking a few steps towards Sinovera's parents.

Sinovera watched as they flinched away from him, fear very prominent in their crimson eyes. Their faces were just beginning to bruise, and she noticed that blood was pouring from her father's nose. The man let out a chuckle as they flinched away.

“Just like the Drow. They always think that they are so high and mighty. That is, until they are put in their place.” He carried himself like a confident leader as he came to a stop just a foot or two away from her parents. Her father glared at the leader of the group looking as if he would like very much to put a knife in his throat, where her mother kept her eyes on their daughter. Concern, tears, and fear all in her eyes. Sinovera knew that this wasn't good, and all she wanted to do was to run to her parents and hug them, for she feared that they would not survive the night.

“What are you going to do to us?” Sinovera asked, her voice just as shaky as her body was. The man turned to her, a blank expression upon his face.

“To you? We are going to do nothing. To them; well that's a much different story.” He said as he began walking to her bedside again. Sinovera looked away from him to stare at her parents again, meeting their eyes. Only this time she noticed something odd. Both of her parents eyes were crimson red, where both of her parents had silver eyes like her. The dark man looked at her for a moment, before looking towards where her eyes were transfixed and his eyes widened for a moment.

“Little one, say good-bye to your parents.” He said this quickly then nodded to his men. Two of them stepped forward and grabbed her parents by their hair to wrench their heads back. Both of the men brought out serrated daggers and placed them to her parents neck, and she let out a scream of horror as those daggers were stabbed into her parents neck and dragged across them. Their crimson blood spurted from their throat and they made gurgling screams through their gags.

Sinovera watched in horror, unable to look away, as their parents spasmed and gurgled as blood filled their lungs. They were drowning in their own blood. It was nearly a relief when they finally slumped forward, the dark embrace of death finally accepting them. The men simply wiped their daggers on her parents clothes and released their holds on their hair so that their bodies could thump onto the worn wooden floor.

Sinovera sat there, quietly for a while. Just staring at her parents as their crimson life-blood pooled on her bedroom floor, and finally she couldn't take it any longer. She put her hands to her mouth and let out a sobbing scream of rage and agony. Her life had gone from pleasant and comfortable, to cruel and menacing within just the span of a night.

When she heard the sound of boots to her left her head snapped to the side as anger filled her face. She found the dark man staring at her once again. He looked her up and down before attempting to speak to her again, but her anger grew to be too much and she jumped from her bed to lunge at him. Though before she could even connect with him she felt a sharp pain in the front of her forehead, then the world went dark.

The last thing she heard was “Good-night.” Then all went silent.
